Work Text:

Hermione didn’t know why she did it— she didn’t know why she ran but here she was sitting in small town Stars Hollow in a sweet little diner.

The owner of the diner Luke was running around serving everyone without really even thinking. He was good; he didn't even need to write down the orders.

He was an impressive man and she was glad she got to sit in his diner for even a day to watch him work.

Being here was relaxing— as soon as she entered the small town it all floated away. All of her problems from the war. All the memories. All the people who had died. All just gone.

“What can I get you?” Luke asked.

“You want the coffee. It’s the best coffee in the world,” a brunette woman said to her, “Lorelai by the way, Lorelai Gilmore at your service.”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Hermione Granger, and I’ll have the coffee and some bacon and eggs please,” Hermione said.

“Odd name,” the other woman drifted off, “Odd but I like it. I think we will be great friends.”

Hermione smiled at her and read while she waited for her food to arrive.

“You’d get along with my daughter. She’s always reading,” Lorelai said.

When her food arrived she scoffed it down and left for the Dragonfly Inn.

It was a nice bed and breakfast and from what she heard the owners were quirky. She needed the distractions to keep going.

It was close to midday when the knock on the door startled Hermione awake. She had been in Stars Hollow for a few months now and had made friends with Lorelai, Rory and Luke.

They were great people. It was still a great escape for her.

Climbing out of bed, she went to the door and answered it to see Rory standing on the other side with a bunch of daisies in hand.

“These were left at the front desk for you,” the girl said.

“Thank you,” Hermione said.

Shutting the door, she read the card and smiled.

Written on the card was “ don’t think about anything. Just tell me that you love me and hold me tighter,”

Hermione quickly got dressed and ran out of the Inn. Driving into town and parked herself out of the diner and sprinted in.

“Why?” She shouted.

“Because you’re the only person I can talk to and show the true me. And when you said that to me I felt alive for the first time in years,” Luke said.

Pushing through the crowd, Hermione pulled him down to her and connected their lips.

She was glad she ran. She was glad she found this quaint little town and the diner.

She had found her home.
