Chapter Text

Randy has always had an off sense with Billy, he gave him the creeps and he was betting on the guy being an actual psycho. It was a little different with the tag along best friend, Stu, Stu was well… Stu to say the least, he always gave an off kilter vibe as well but it wasn’t like he wasn’t pleasant to be around. He seemed to take a hint too late or not read the room and something nags at me every time, how could he be so oblivious to the setting he’s creating despite being able to talk down banshee's practically.
It’s not like Stu wasn’t smart, he ruled that out with the way he always said something calculating about horror movies but with a joy that doesn’t even reveal he’s trying to analyze it. So he didn’t rule out that Stu had some smarts, I mean it is a horror movie right? After Casey’s death no one could ease up, but the tension always seemed to dissipate with the dirty blonde, some people may say otherwise but Randy thought it to be common knowledge that no really disliked Stu.
Today was one of those contemplative days where working in the video store gave him something to do but also a back of the mind reminder, this is all one big scary movie. The door chiming suddenly felt like it could plummet his stomach, he gave the door a glance, Billy Loomis is walking in like he doesn’t have prison for life taped to his back with the title of killer. He narrowed his eyes at Billy as he casually browsed the horror movie section making him tsk, he tried to turn his attention away but the sudden wrist grab and shout made him lose his shit.
He was embarrassed to admit he jumped and gave a gasp that sounded like he could faint, wild eyes searched the face of his perpetrator. Stu had a shit eating grin that said “Gotcha” and oozed of victory. “Jumpy chick flick?” Randy huffed looking around as he slightly yanked his wrist from the others surprisingly strong grip. It was odd the way relief washer over him as he rubbed his wrist with an absent mind, he glanced back Billy’s way, “Dude I know he’s your friend and all but c’mon?!” He practically hissed “The horror section really? Poor tastes man I’m telling you-“.
He felt his hand more than his presence taking him from his suspicion on Billy, “Poor tastes?? Randy, you and I both know it’s the prime horror movie time!!”. He raised a brow at the taller, looking quickly back at his murder suspect before returning his gaze, he hated saying it but Loomis kinda freaked him out. “C’mon man you’re like the biggest horror movie enthusiast, you know how this goes” Randy rolled his eyes “Exactly that’s what I’m saying never EVER trust the love interest!”
He felt his ears grow hot as his voice unintentionally raised an octave, Stu raised up his hands in surrender “No need to burst a blood vessel dude, all I’m saying is… you have nothing to worry about”. That….. that wasn’t half bad comforting on Stu’s part, surprisingly, he felt that familiar wave of relief run by, Stu punched his shoulder softly. He rolled his eyes letting out a short half laugh, elbowing Stu back, and then a shudder ran through his spine despite Stu’s comfort he still could feel something cold.
Randy was about to open his mouth as if to speak but a small puff of air near his ear made him jump slightly, spinning fast on his heel to face the perpetrator only to find he would have rather kept looking forward. Billy Loomis never bothered with him often but the fact he just so openly accused him of murder made the interaction horrifying, it sped up his breath but slowed down the experience, tripping back he could feel a hand holding him up by the arm. He felt like he could’ve twisted an ankle and if he was in a true life or death situation he would’ve been the next chop off the block for sure.
He felt the smooth slide of a sturdy hand leading up his arm and reaching his fingers pulling him against the momentum and setting him up straight in such a quick movement he felt verdugo take a full affect. “Hey woah man, didn’t mean to spook you” he held a hand to his chest and took a steadying breath, he could hear other people in the store silently chuckle at his little dramatic scene. His face completely heated with embarrassment, he could still feel Stu’s hand holding his. He inhaled long and tried to casually slip his hand from the tallers.
Billy seemed to be scrutinizing me, for what I couldn’t get a hint from his practically far off and cold stare. It was like he was searching for something other than complete embarrassment, Randy cleared his throat and stood slightly straiter but avoided direct eye contact. “You think I’m spooky Randy??” His brows knitted as his eyes flickered over, it seemed like more of oddly enough a genuine question. Finally he turned his head to face the other, he searched the other slightly, he knew his intimidation was low but he could try and find some emotion in who he assumed was a person.
Without even really second guessing what he would say he opened his mouth and responded with “No, you just… you can be intense” it seemed an honest enough answer. Billy paused at that, and surprisingly he just gives a firm nod and stands up. “You aren’t half bad Meeks, keep it that way”. As if on cue Stu leans on him casually with one arm, he’s always been a grounding type of person. Stu nods his head at Billy and he looks like he is speaking with telepathy that only they know, and as soon as Billy’s brows knit Stu speaks up “You know, I bet you have a decent collection of horror movies in your arsenal, why don’t we make it a movie night?! At Billy’s obviously” he wriggled his brows at the both of them, mischievous glint in his eyes.
Billy presented it as a challenge looking at Randy with a raised brow expression “Unless you’re, too frightened, scared, horrified?” His voice kept even but he talked faster, intense was the perfect word. But for some reason, Stu initiating the invite did put him at more ease, he still wouldn’t trust it but… “Okay! Fine, date and time, I’ll be there” Billy hummed, slightly backing off after his offer was accepted.
“Tonight, before 5:00 and curfew, make it a sleep over if you will, we can party all night” Randy gave a firm nod as the other sent a finger gun “Don’t forget the movies” and with that Billy was heading out, Randy felt his stomach drop. He whipped around “Stu what the fuck man!!” He threw his hand up in exasperation “Why would you invite me to- weirdest of all- HIS HOUSE?!”

Now people were looking at him like he was really wigging out, but he’s not!! Randy just hushes his voice “I’m going to trust you on this but… if I die I told you so”. Stu just rolled his eyes “You’ll see, he’s not that bad man!! He’s shy” Randy snorted “Yeah shy” he picked up some tapes that had been dropped due to his near heart attack and set up the display. “C’mon dude, it’ll be fun!! Lighten up will you? Three of us!! And if it comes to it, at least it’ll be two against one!” Randy sighed “Yeah whatever just… no one goes alone okay?” Stu smiled wide “whatever you say!! You’re the best director!!”
Randy shook his head, it was good to know he was at least promoted from chick flick to director before death.
