Work Text:
The rain was pouring heavily for a while. The stone paves were shimmering the grey mighty sky, rumbling down the cold weather for a whole week now. It didn't cancelled the planned convocation of every Stellaron Hunters. With umbrellas at their hands, they gathered on the plaza of a ghost town, on a lost planet. Grand buildings of broken windows were towering them. Not even the faint taint of their living presence could wreck the liveless town clogged in silence, in the soft rolling of rain drops.
It was supposed to be a rapid meeting. Yet an important one. Elio needed to gather everyone to inform them of the next mission.
Of course, Kafka has to be there. Silver Wolf, Blade and Sam were also present. Under the little flock of black panels, Blade was the one holding the umbrella for Elio.
" In advance, I am terribly sorry to all for having a meeting in these conditions. The current situation doesn't really give us the best time and place to reunite."
Kafka was the only one standing out, close enough to hear Elio. The others hunters were standing quietly behind her, forming a sort of circle.
" I needed everyone to come, but I am not going to lie that the matter I am going to discuss will majorily concern you, Kafka"
" Go on and tell me, before the rain gets heavier and I miss out eventually your precious orders " said Kafka.
Elio nodded in respect. He finally pronounced his urgent words.
" The next mission will greatly affect the future's course. And I need you, Kafka, as I strongly think that you're the one to fit the best for this"
" You flatter me"
Elio turned around to walk a little, while Blade had to follow him to keep holding the umbrella above him.
" I demand you to infiltrate in all discretion on Herta's Space Station to catch a Stellaron she has sealed and preserved in high security, among her others Curios. but the Stellaron is sealed in an hidden room. With the help of Silver Wolf's skills, we were finally able to track another cancer of all worlds"
" Is that it ?"
" Not only you will have to get your hands on it, but you must be also the one to place that same Stellaron in the body of our vessel..."
Kafka held her umbrella tighter.
" I see... It's finally time, isn't it ?"
" Clever girl you are. It is the case. But I need you and you only to execute this special task. When you will be done with the vessel, you have to leave the station"
" So I have to leave the vessel behind as well ?"
" Exactly" affirmed Elio, with an assertive voice.
Kafka understood quickly his words and didn't questionned more about it. She raised her head to look at the sky. She could see the heavy rain drops falling from the clouds, like dots of inks, due to backlighting. For an instant, she felt a shiver running on her shoulders, going down her spine.
Finally, they will be one step close to their goal.
" You can pick up to two partners for this mission, my visions tells me that you might encounter some minor problems. Nothing should be blocking your way" completed Elio.
" I'll go with the usual then. Silver Wolf for my security pass and Bladie to look out for us"
" Wise choice"
Elio turned back at his Stellaron Hunters, still followed by Blade.
" When shall we depart then ?"
" When you three will be ready"
Kafka nodded and she pivoted to Silver Wolf.
" Are you ready to fly outter space ?"
Silver Wolf grinned.
" Ready to game "
Elio joined the shelter of another umbrella so Blade could rejoin Kafka and Silver Wolf.
" I am ready likewise" added Blade.
" Let's get going then, we shall not hold the future in waiting any longer"
Kafka walked past the Stellarons Hunters, followed by Silver Wolf and Blade. As they were parting away, Elio shouted.
" Wait Kafka ! You shouldn't walk any meters more, or else you will..."
" Sorry ? What were you- Yikes !"
Kafka only heard a glimpse of Elio's sentence before she sensed the ground lifting off from her feet. She didn't had a second to see it coming. Her balance was quickly lost and Kafka slipped backward on the smooth wet floor.
" I also predicted that you will slip..." finished Elio. " My bad"
Silver Wolf tried so hard to not burst a laugh. By falling, Kafka almost hitted her head on the ground. Her hands were fast enough to minimize some injuries, and land on her behind. Blade rushed to her and held out his hand for her.
" Are you alright-"
At the moment she was about to reach Blade's hand and thank him, the latter's feet parted in opposite directions at the last second and it was Blade's turn to lose his balance.
" Ouch" said Kafka at the sight of Blade hitting the ground.
Silver Wolf couldn't hold it any longer and bursted a loud scream. All of that happening right in front of the eyes of the others Stellaron Hunters. It was already embarassing enough for one to join Silver Wolf's uncontrollable laughing. Then, the grey haired girl had no choice but to be the one to help Kafka stand up. But in her contagious laughing, Silver Wolf wasn't concentrated enough to clench her legs to lift Kafka with her hand, and also ended slipping on the flooded stone pavements.
" Ouch !! Ow !"
The three of them has fallen inelegantly on the ground, losing grip on their umbrella, and soaked in rain. Finally, Sam was the only one to detach from the group to help them get up, as the three were having ridiculously a hard time to get up on the very slippery ground.
After being back on both of their feet, regaining their umbrellas in hands, and drenched clothes, Kafka thanked Sam and looked back at her two companions. Silver Wolf was rubbing her hurted butt from falling brutally and Blade tried to brush it off by acting like it never happened. The two were waiting Kafka to say some words.
" Well, I guess we will go after we change our clothes"
