Chapter Text
A strong pain takes over my body. Someone is yelling at me, but I don’t listen. The person is still yelling at me, asking questions that I can’t hear or answer. She kicks me hard in the stomach still expecting an answer. I cough up blood and start laughing. Blood continues to drip from my mouth as my hysterical laughs flood the room. She stops interrogating me and starts to kick and hit me.
This goes on for a long time. Minutes, Hours, days I don’t know, time flies fast when you only have a shred of sanity.
After however long she leaves. I can get a good look at her. This girl has dark hair the shade of night, her face does not show a sign of red. ‘Not a pilot’ I think to myself, but her right arm has a blue glow and a bump. Before she leaves, I take a close look at the bump on her arm, it looks like the shape of a computer chip. ‘What was she saying’ I think I try to remember but nothing comes to mind. ‘Wow good job Sona, can’t even listen to your captor, you just too busy being insane.’
This goes through my head a few times before I can realise what I’m doing. ‘Pull yourself together Sona’ ‘who are you’ I try to keep my thoughts to myself, but my mind keeps going to the girl and what she was yelling at me. ‘I’m Sona Steelcrest, gearbreaker and I’m currently incarcerated.’
I try to think of what got me here. ‘There were’ I start to search my memory ‘-mechas’ ‘my crew got rid of one of them, but we got overpowered and I told them to leave. I started fighting the last mecha But-’ I search my memory again ‘I got captured.’

I’m left there rotting in a cell. Victoria always said my life would come to an end like this. “If they even bother to corrupt you, you won’t survive the first second” she’d always say things like that. Sometimes I thought it was because she wanted to be captain of the crew other times, I thought she just hated me.
My hands are cuffed behind me, they are connected to the wall by about a meter of chain. The floor of the room is not damp or covered in rat droppings like the gearbreaker’s bedtime stories would say, but the room is far from inviting. The place is pitch black, dark enough to block out anything other than its void. I end up closing my eyes and go back to my thoughts.

My time in godolia has not a been a fun one. Sometimes someone would interrupt my solitude and ask questions. Sometimes that person is the one who has the chip in her arm. The girl would continue to yell at me. As much as I try to listen, I can never remember what she is saying so I look at her right arm. The chip is starting to take over her arm. It looks like an infection spreading across the body. Suddenly I remember something about it.
(Flashback)
“Get the pilot” I scream at my crew; Rose gives me a nod and runs away from the fight and to the grounded mecha. After a while I hear shooting.
“BANG.” I look out the window and realise its coming from the immobilized mecha.
“Cover me.” I tell Enyo he nods and reloads his gun. I ran to where Rose left, I saw rose on the floor, blood pouring down her mouth. I run to her.
“rose, rose stay with me “in my voice there are hints of desperation. Rose doesn’t move. ‘sheisdeadsheisdeadsheisdead’ my head screams at me. I am in a state of panic until I see rose move her hand she points across the room.
I turn my head to see a mechanic on her knees with blood pouring down her arm. She looks long gone but suddenly fire springs to her face, she tries to stand and fails. She falls back to unconsciousness. Normally you don’t see mechanics on mechas unless the mecha needs repair. But this Valkyrie seems to be in a good condition, well, until my crew got here.
Loud noises come from the head of the mecha. I remember my mission; I leave the mechanic thinking that whatever Rose did to her is worse than what the twin hells can offer. Rose is always nice to everyone and has never held a grudge, but she has no mercy for you if you’re on the wrong side.
I go back to rose, she has regained conciseness.
“Get the crew out of here, I’ll get the pilot.” She nods and slowly limps out of the mecha.
I climb up to the head and see a pilot. The pilot looks too young to be on an official mission, but she was operating a mecha, so she passed the academy. Before I can think any further, I go and fight the wirefucker.
The girl I am about to fight is very short, so short I could rest my head on hers while she’s standing without having to go on my toes but what she lacks in height she makes up in skill. She was a hard mecha to kill but now since we did, it is time to kill her.
The pilot looks at me and charges. despite everything being a gearbreaker has taught me I can’t help but find this pilot attractive. She looks suspiciously like the mechanic half dead on the floor.
Before the sword she is holding hits me, I hold the handle of my sword and I look at what weapons she has. The girl is holding a sword and has a gun in her belt but not enough weapons to kill a gearbreaker, this was her practise run.
Isn’t the world great?
(End of flash back)
So, the person who has been yelling at me is the mechanic. My mind is blurry, but she does look like the mechanic. What did rose put in her arm? This question goes around in my head until the mechanic comes back.
When she opens the door, the room is filled with light. The mechanic comes into the room and closes the door leaving the room in its regular dark. She starts to speak, this time I listen to her. “What did you do to me!” she yells. I don’t respond, I don’t know what Rose did to her. She kicks me hard in my stomach, I wince. “Tell me!” she spits at me. Even if I did want to answer, I seem to have forgotten how to speak. She punches me straight in the face.
I’m knocked off my usual miserable position to a worse one. As my face hits the floor my head is spinning but I can faintly see the mechanic fall to the floor clutching the hand she punched me with to her chest, it is the one with the chip. She looks to be in pain. Before I blackout, I see the mechanic getting pulled out of the room by my prison guards.
