Work Text:

March 7th groaned internally, “okay yeah. I get you, Dan Heng, first again for the top scorer right?” Stelle giggled softly as she patted March 7th’s back. Dan Heng merely kept quiet, it was indeed known to everyone that he is the smartest in the cohort — he is always the first in placing.

“Dan Heng, hold up! I don’t think you would want to see the.. the leaderboard.” Asta huffed, blocking him out with her hands.

Dan Heng arched an eyebrow, “why is that?” Asta gulped, not wanting to dampen his mood and hopes. March 7th and Stelle took the chance to squeeze in to look at the leaderboard.

“Ah? Dan Heng you’re second in placement.” Stelle mumbled, although audible enough for Dan Heng to hear. He arched his eyebrow, it was quite a shock for him as well.

Dan Heng took a peek on the leaderboard, on the top placement, it says — Blade.

Hold up, Blade? Who the hell what that?

A sudden deep voice floated across the hall, “Dan Heng, 2nd in place. Nice to meet you, I’m Blade.” Dan Heng turned around and there was a guy with dark blue hair with red tips, standing in front of him. He held out his hands with a smirk, waiting for Dan Heng to respond.

“Hey! Aren’t you—” March 7th interjected but was stopped by Dan Heng who firmly held her hand. There was an unsolved tension popping out in the atmosphere while silence filled up the hall.

Dan Heng turned back to Blade, “yes. Nice to meet you.” He returned the handshake, locking their eyes.

Blade took the chance to pull Dan Heng in and whispered in his ears, “I look forward to bringing you down.” With that he pulled him away with a smile and walked away.

Oh, he was surely a competitive one. Dan Heng thought.

“That Blade guys is so.. ugh!” March 7th shuddered, pulling Dan Heng and Stelle along with her.

[]

Kafka sighed nonchalantly, “if I’m being honest right now, you’re just obsessing over that.. What's his name? Dan..”

“Dan Heng.” Blade corrected and continued humming his tune.

Kafka scrolled through her phone and sighed, “yea. That’s a sign of obsession, Blade.”

Blade shook his head as he let out a small chuckle, “it’s not. I was merely beating him in the subjects.” Kafka rolled her eyes as she threw her phone on the bed.

“Being overly obsessed with beating him in everything?” Kafka explained, hoping that Blade would finally realise it but he merely shrugged.

Kafka scoffed, crossing her arms. “I’m betting my whole assets that you have hots for that Dan guy.”

Blade stopped writing and pursed his lips. “Well, I bet my whole house that I have no hots for Dan Heng.”

“Oh, we are so on.” Kafka laughed and walked away.

[]

“Okay and you know I—” March 7th stopped as she bumped into someone who was twice her height.

“Ugh, do you not know how to look?” She rubbed her head, looking up to see who it was.

Oh, Blade.

Stelle coughed lightly as she tugged March 7th’s uniform to go behind her, she quickly understood and went behind Stelle.

“We meet again,” Blade said, his gaze only on Dan Heng.

“What a pleasant surprise.” Dan Heng merely replied, not wanting to continue this conversation any longer.

Blade smiled innocently, “you know. I have some questions to ask, are you possible to meet after school today? My dorm.”

Dan Heng pursed his lips. He obviously didn’t want to entertain such a man by going to his dorm but knowing Blade’s personality, he was probably going to look down on him if he didn’t accept his offer.

“Sure, 3pm.” March 7th wanted to intervene but was once stopped again by Dan Heng. Blade gave a small wave and walked away.

March 7th crossed her arms, “are you mad? Why the hell would you want to meet with such a guy!”

“I have my reasons.” He tried to calm the situation but she just wouldn’t listen.

Stelle sighed, being in this trio is such a hassle to always be the one fixing their friendship problems. “Come on March, we’ll solve this.” With that she dragged a furious March 7th away from Dan Heng.

[]

Dan Heng gingerly combed his hair, he didn’t want to lose any face to that Blade guy, or maybe he was just a person who couldn’t handle the thought of losing to anyone.

Before he was about to knock on the door, Blade opened it. Their eyes met instantly which sparked a connection.

Blade smiled as he tore his gaze away, looking at his watch. “Just as I estimated, come in.” He gestured for Dan Heng to walk in, which he did.

“You’re cooking curry?” Dan Heng asked as he smelt the spices of the curry enveloping the room.

Blade turned around to look at him, “well I heard that curry is your favourite food, so this treat is on me.”

“Oh.” Dan Heng murmured in a small voice, he suddenly felt as if his voice dried out.

Blade let out a small chuckle, “oh. Indeed.” With that he went into the kitchen.

[]

Both of them ate in silence, only staring at the plate in front of their tables. Neither of them wanted to ruin the atmosphere as of now.

Dan Heng put down the chopsticks, “so. What do you need help with?”

Blade held up the cup of wine and his lips curved up into an innocent grin, “I need help with kissing.”

“What?”

“I said, I need help with kissing.”

Dan Heng gave him a glare and stood up abruptly, “this is harassment. No, I’m going.” With that he walked towards the door but Blade grabbed his wrist before he could walk any further.

“Hey, it’s just once. And I promise it is no further than that.” Blade explained.

Dan Heng gave him a side glance, “why me?”

“Because I feel like you’re the only one worth my lips.” Dan Heng felt his cheeks heat up upon hearing that.

Dan Heng sighed, “well.. okay. I guess, this is my first kiss though.”

“Heh. Same.” Blade released his wrist, laying back on the chair.

“So.. how do we.. kiss?” Dan Heng mumbled.

Blade stood up from his seat and pushed him towards a wall, “it’s easy. Just follow me.” He lifted Dan Heng’s cheeks with one finger and leaned in.

Oh, fuck.

Dan Heng was once tricked again.

[]

“Blade..” Dan Heng faltered softly when he heard the door unlocked. They were both in bed, naked.

“Round 2, hm?” Blade whispered into his hair, readjusting himself to hold Dan Heng’s waist.

Dan Heng huffed, “no. There’s someone who came in.”

“Kafka, come in.” Blade lazily called out.

A girl with purple-ish hair strutted in while showing him the contract for the house inheritance.

“Awh, I thought we were joking.” He chuckled out.

Kafka rolled her eyes, “well. I wasn’t.” Her tone was cold and sarcastic.

Blade sighed, “the house is yours then.” Kafka nodded and slammed the door on the couple.

Dan Heng pinched his arms, “I’m actually breaking up with you if we are staying in a stupid dormitory next time.” Blade laughed and kissed the tip of his nose.

“You won’t regret being with me, trust me.”

Dan Heng smiled softly, “I’m just joking. Till death do us apart.”

Blade hummed. “Of course.”

“I still hate you for seducing me though.” Dan Heng stated.

“And I love you too.”
