Are You Free?

Summary:

Tomioka Giyuu was an anomaly, Shinobu decides. But it seems that things weren't really as what it appears to be.

Notes:

This Oneshot deals with student au giyushino! Giyuu is a gullible guy who has a hard time displaying emotions, which could lead to many misunderstandings. Shinobu thinks he's hateful towards her since he does and say many questionable things when in truth he actually cares for her alot. He's just a lil shy lol.

Chapter Text

Tomioka Giyuu was an anomaly. Unfortunately Kocho Shinobu found that out the hard way.

It was now spring. All are alive and well in spring and both life and hope blossoms–which is why it's Shinobu's favorite season. She stretched her arms and leaned back to her chair, relieved at the sound of the bell ringing. "Finally, schools over for the week!"

The pink haired girl next to her tapped her shoulder before enthusiastically exclaiming. "Neh Shinobu, do you have plans for this weekend?"

She smiled, assuring her friend that her hopes have already been answered. "Nope! My schedules all clear this weekend!"

Misturi stood up excitedly. "Nice! Then do you wanna go out to the mall with me?" She pouted and gave Shinobu her best puppy eyes. "Prettyyyy pleaseee?"

Shinobu chuckled. "Y'know I can't say no to you."

"Yes!" Misturi gave her a crushing hug. Her eyes slightly wander behind her when she felt an aura prickle her back. She sweatdropped at Iguro, who's eyes widened intimidatingly at her. Literally everyone except the girl in question knows about his obsessive crush. 'Haah, Misturi please notice him already..'

Breaking free of their hug, Misturi scrambled through her stuff and packed them all in her backpack that reeked of many types of food. "Ok then, I'll see you tomorrow!" Shinobu sweatdropped again as Misturi swiftly rushed–and slammed a couple of students along the way–in the halfway. She loves her friend very much but sometimes she can't help but wonder what's going on inside her head.

'Well it's about time I leave too.' With notebooks and textbooks in her hand that she gently–unlike her friend–placed in her purple bag, she hummed quietly to herself.

"Kocho." She halted. She knew who that voice belonged to and as much as she hated him, she still held human decency.

She faked a smile. "Ara-ara, do you need something Tomioka-San?"

Tomioka Giyuu stood next to her with his dark blue eyes coldly calculating her entire being.

"..." Though she kept her smile, an angry tick mark appeared on the top of her head. "Are you just gonna stand there after grabbing my precious attention and not talk like you've been doing these past few days, Tomioka-san?"

Tomioka has been really weird lately. Well she thought he was weird enough, but recently he's been weirder. Sometimes she'd catch him gazing at her all dazed and chilly. Most guys who stare at her in such ways were usually one of admiration and love, but Tomioka was different.

For one he was the Tomioka Giyuu who's always hated her guts from their first meeting and second; She might've held a little more understanding for his weird behaviours had it not been that his eyes had always disregarded her.

Whenever he beats her in something, his icy gaze would meet her purple ones mockingly.

Every time he shoots a goal in the basketball hoop he'd stare at her.

Everytime he beats her in endurance tests he'd stare at her.

Everytime he gets a higher score on a test or quiz–which rarely happens since no one beats the Shinobu Kocho in academics–he'd stare at her.

It really gets on her nerves. She knows well enough that she's physically weak dammit, there was no need to add salt to the wound!

Not to mention his constant verbal blows to her confidence..

When someone compliments her for example on her marks, all of a sudden he'd say stuff like, "She's Kocho, ofcourse she'd do good."

Or when another student publicly confesses to her, "Kocho doesn't need anyone."

Who does he think he is that he can ridicule her like that?! Does he think she doesn't work hard, or that unlike him–who's the schools loner–could be content to live alone?!

He really was insufferable.

Lately he's been calling out her name when it was just the two of them, then to her annoyance he would just.. Stand there and stare her down without a word. She's been patient as it is with him already, however as of now she's just about had enough.

"Listen here mr. ice, just tell me what you need from me and we'll go on our separate ways, yeh?" She said with her smile still intact but her tone says otherwise.

Tomioka peeped out a noise of confusion that was unusual to his public image. His eyes trembled and she swore she saw sweats forming on his skin.

He looked.. Flustered? She tilted her head slightly. 'Why was he getting flustered?'

"I.. I uh.." He swallowed.

Shinobu's lips formed a line, now serious at the matters in front of her. Now why tf would the Tomioka Giyuu–probably the only guy who hates her–be nervous? What was there for him to be nervous about?

She just noticed now that it was only the two of them left in the classroom and sighed. He looked like a complete idiot gawking with his mouth opening and closing as he rethinks each time.

She sling her bag over her shoulders. "If there's nothing you want to say then so be it. Please stop wasting my time."

Though her words were harsh, she couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. She'd never say it but a part of her yearns for his approval.

He was the only guy who treated her indifferently, and her competitive nature took that as a match. 'Well I guess some people are just not meant to clash.'

Without looking at his idiotic face, she walked to the door.

Her eyes opened wide when all of a sudden she felt a large cold hand grip her wrist. Her head jerked to see his face and her breath stopped at the sight of his brows furrowed and his lips bitten. Her checks slightly reddened.

It kinda looked sexy..

'HUH?! What are you thinking Shinobu?! Have you gone insane?!' She mentally slapped herself. No way was she thinking her nemesis was 'hot' all of a sudden.

"Kocho.."

She's sure he's said her name hundreds of times but the way he was calling her right now felt different some how.. For some reason he sounded desperate.

She swallowed the lump that began to form in her throat. "What.."

"Kocho I.."

He slapped his face like he was reassuring himself. She heard him mumble something but couldn't quite comprehend his muffled words.

Her ears perked. She hates to admit it but his recent behaviours has certainly peaked her interest. "What was it?"

"...weekend.."

"Huh?"

"Are you...Weekend.."

Her eyebrows twitched. " Y'know I don't speak in codes."

His hands slipped of his-admittedly good looking-face. His skin was tinted crimson red. She's never seen her fellow classmates so.. Well she's never seen him show this much emotions. Granted there were a couple of time she'd catch him smiling by accident but she's never seen him show these kinds of emotions willingly.

She's also pretty sure he's never shown this to anyone but her as well. Her heart unknowingly fluttered at the idea.

He took a deep breath and opened his fierce eyes that poked holes on hers. "Are you free this weekend?"

Her jaw dropped. "Huh?" She was definitely not expecting that.

She flushed. Wait was he.. Was he asking her out?!

'No. Don't jumped into conclusions, Shinobu. There's no way he likes you. You guys basically hate each other!' She tried to calm herself to no avail. Her heart started pounding crazily even though she shushed it multiple times.

She's been confessed of love from many throughout her short life and each time she rejects it perfectly. She doesn't know why she feels different when she's with him.

"I uh.."

Her common sense wanted to blurt out no strongly but for some reason she couldn't utter them out. Not when he's looking at her with such hope.

"Uhm.. Yes?"

'DAMMIT SHINOBU YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SAY NO!!' Her inner self yelled at her.

She wanted to beat herself over and over for saying such things but he suddenly beamed in a way that she's never seen.

His open mouth curved up as he let out a sigh of relief. "Really?"

Shinobu was doomed. How could she refuse him now and admit her careless mistake when he showed her such face? She was even more doomed when she realized she just found him adorable just now.

"Yeah.."

Well it was too late to go back now. She has no choice but to comply.

His hold on her wrists loosened and his head laid low to look at her petite fingers in his hand.

"Then perhaps are you ok accompanying me maybe at the park tomorrow?" He said so innocently.

She exhaled. How could a cold-hearted man's heart suddenly melt so quickly? "Oh uh sure?"

He smiled. "Then I will await for you tomorrow at the parks entrance that's nearby school at 12."

She nodded, her mouth unable to find the strength left to speak any further. Her insides swirled with emotions she's never felt and her common sense was left dumbfounded at her stupidity.

'This is bad. This is really bad.'

Hastily she flicked her hands away from his–which weirdly enough a part of her couldn't help but be saddened by–and stumbled her way to the door. Before she could leave she looked at him one more time and gave him a weak smile.

"T-Then I'll see you tomorrow!"

Her heart tumbled when he returned her smile with his hand that once tenderly held hers waving goodbye. "I'll see you tomorrow, Kocho."

Her small legs sprinted in uneven patterns all over the empty hallways. Her destination brought her to the girls washroom.

The moment she stepped a foot in she sank to the floor with her back leaning on the wall for support. One palm planted harshly on her face while the other clenched her chest tightly. She was flushed pink all over her body and if someone were to touch her right now she's sure they'd back off at the sudden overwhelming heat. She promised to hang out with Misturi but it seems that has to be rescheduled for a certain airhead.

Why she's acting like this she has no idea, but somehow it didn't feel bad. Actually she sorta liked it. That was why her heart pounded excitedly much to her common senses dismay.

No.. She can't feel this way. She needs to stop such emotions from bubbling in her heart.

But she can't help it. Her heart had it's own mind and for the first time in her life it naughtily disobeyed her wishes.

Her relationship with him wasn't like the rest to begin with.

She knows it deep down.

She knows as to why her heart was like that.

She bit her lips. "Shit, what am I gonna do now?"
