Summary
He parked the car in New Bedford and always tried his hardest to not go and board the ferry to Nantucket. It never worked. It was all muscle memory by now. In these five years since the war, he'd done this a dozen times. Whenever he couldn't take it anymore. Whenever the liquor wasn't keeping the memories down, the memories of leading his men into the crossfire, with only Utivich coming out alive. But the kid had never been the same either. This time, he took the time to visit Donny's empty grave, hoping it would keep him from going. But even that wasn't working. It was his fault that Donny was dead. And there was only one person he could now take it out on without ending up behind bars. Hans Landa.
