Chilly Reception

Summary:

Komari just wanted to sit in the shade and read a book during her forced beach vacation, but Sakuna uses the opportunity to get closer, literally, to her idol.

Work Text:

"This sun will be the death of me." Groaning, Komari trudged underneath the beach parasol, trying to wrap the cloying darkness around her body. "Whose idea was it to go to the beach, anyway? In all the books I've read, vampires always get killed by the sun! Was that just some racist drivel?!" Pinching her arm, she checked to see if her body was turning to ash. Not yet, at least. She flopped down onto the towel, which was just as hot as the sand underneath it. I feel like I'm being grilled alive.

"Um, Ms. Komari, do you not enjoy the summer?" Nearly silently, Sakuna approached Komari as if gliding across the sand. "Are you bothered by the bright sun?"

Damn, even her bare feet are cute, Komari thought, wiggling sideways across the towel like a crab to try and get underneath Sakuna's shadow. But I can't let her think I'm weak against the sun! "Oh, well, I just meant that the sun is trying its best during the summer, and if it saw such a powerful being such as myself out and about all the time, it might get scared and not want to come up again, and then no one could enjoy the beach, so I'm just doing everyone a favor by staying underneath this parasol as much as possible!" Komari laughed awkwardly. I hope she bought that load of bull.

Sakuna nodded sagely. "Of course. Ms. Komari is so mighty that even the heavens tremble at her strength."

Wow, she believed me! Clearing her throat, Komari wiped the sweat from her forehead. "Um, what about you? You're half-Sapphire, right? Are you going to melt or something?"

"Surely you jest." Looking down at Komari, her face shaded by her silver hair, Sakuna wore a troubled look. "No Crimson Lord worth their salt would ever be bothered by the elements, no matter how hot or cold. You're so silly, Ms. Komari." A drop of sweat rolled off her forehead and landed on Komari's lips. Salty!

"Well, yeah, duh! I was kidding, of course!" Trying to laugh it off once again, Komari tried to erase that scary look from Sakuna's face. "You know, instead of going to the hot springs, I bathe in a volcano."

Sakuna gasped, holding onto the parasol's stand for support. "A volcano! That's amazing, Ms. Komari! I can only walk ten kilometers over hot coals before it gets too much for me. You certainly are the strongest Crimson Lord."

I should shut my mouth before anyone asks me to actually demonstrate any of this nonsense, Komari thought. As much as she loved a hot bath, jumping into lava would certainly turn her into deep-fried Komaristicks for all to enjoy. "I used to run laps on hot coals myself, but they asked me to stop so they could use the coals for… coal stuff." Wiping the sand off her hands, Komari rubbed her fingers over the top of Sakuna's bare foot. "Ah, your skin is nice and cool."

"Eep!" Apparently ticklish, Sakuna let out a girlish giggle. "Is this-hehe-your legendary Komari Tickle Attack? The one you used to bring your Mizuchi to heel?"

"Er, what?" What kind of weird rumors are they spreading about me now? Deciding to go along with it, Komari began tickling Sakuna's feet with all the strength she could muster while still lying down, which wasn’t much. "I mean, yeah! But, since we're friends, I'll only give you the half-strength version."

Clutching her belly, Sakuna was nearly bent over with laughter. Her knees buckling, she fell to the ground, straddling Komari with her thighs. Surprised, Komari grabbed Sakuna by the hips in order to not end up squashed completely flat like a bug. Their eyes met as the shadow cast by Sakuna's taller body completely covered Komari's prone form. "My apologies, Ms. Komari," Sakuna said, scrunching up the blanket with her clenched hands. "I'll stop defiling your divine figure with my lowly body."

Like witnessing a solar eclipse, Komari was bathed in cool darkness. Actually, the more she thought about it, she realized that Sakuna's body was releasing waves of chilled air, probably a result of her Sapphire heritage. "No, it's fine! It's actually quite nice!" The wind blew a refreshing breeze across Komari's body, which smelled like Sakuna's floral scent. "You can defile me as much as you like!"

"Then, if it will please you, Ms. Komari, I can cool you down with my skin." Lowering herself, Sakuna laid on top of Komari, pressing their cheeks together. Sakuna's taller body meant that Komari was entirely underneath her form, with only their swimsuits preventing… things… from coming into contact. "Would you like me to take off my swimsuit, for maximum comfort?"

Despite the cold air, Komari felt her cheeks heat up. "Nope! Clothing is fine! Wouldn't want to get too chilly and catch a cold!" She rubbed her hands over Sakuna's back, enjoying the cool feeling on her palms.

Lifting her head up, Sakuna narrowed her eyes. "Ms. Komari, certainly you never get sick, right?" Her warm breath brushed against Komari's cheeks.

Komari shook her head rapidly. "No, of course not! My powerful aura eliminates germs right on the spot, I just don't want to kill them unnecessarily, you know. I am, you know, mig-magnanimous, after all."

"Mmm." Apparently satisfied with that explanation, Sakuna nodded. "Yes, mercy is one of your many virtues. You could've requested the Empress to execute me for my crimes, but you brought me along with you on this wonderful trip."

You invited yourself, Komari thought, but decided not to ruin the mood. "Yep, and once Vill gets back with the popsicles, we can really get this party started!"

"Ms. Komari, is your mouth too hot?" Licking her lips, Sakuna looked at Komari with a hungry expression. "I can cool it down for you. You drank my blood, after all, so sharing my saliva with you is a trivial matter." Komari opened her mouth to protest that she didn’t remember drinking anyone’s blood, but Sakuna must've taken it as a sign of assent, as she quickly closed the gap between their faces and pressed their lips together. Remembering the kiss scenes from the novels she's written, Komari remembered to close her eyes, focusing her senses on the warmth and sweet berry taste of Sakuna's lips. Something wet touched Komari's front teeth before licking her tongue, and she realized, somewhat belatedly, that Sakuna was Frenching her. It was far from the first time that another woman's tongue had been in her mouth; after all, she had become somewhat dulled to the sensation from Vill's daily "dental checkups". Komari had the sudden mental image of a bloody tongue bursting through the back of her head the same way Sakuna's fist punched through Flöte's stomach and shuddered. To Komari's surprise, Sakuna's tongue wasn't like a cold, wriggling popsicle as she expected. Rather, it was as warm and spongy as a regular tongue. I'll file that knowledge away for future book material about Sapphires, Komari thought, as Sakuna ran her tongue all along Komari's teeth before withdrawing. "Was that enough, Ms. Komari?"

Komari had to swallow Sakuna's warm, sticky spit before replying. "S-Sure, that tasted great! What a good girl you are!" Licking her lips, she savored Sakuna's sweet berry taste. I… don't even think that's lip gloss, she thought, running her tongue across the roof of her mouth. I think Sakuna just normally tastes nice.

"Hehe. I'm glad." Shifting her body around, Sakuna rubbed up against Komari like an affectionate cat. "Are you sure I'm not too heavy?"

"Nope!" Wrapping her arms around Sakuna, Komari pressed their bodies even closer. "It's like… putting my dolphin pillow in the fridge and then hugging it!" Actually, Sakuna's hard, metallic-feeling skin made it feel like a cold steel beam fell on top of her, but Komari didn't want to make her feel bad.

Sakuna had a glazed, faraway look in her eyes. "So, I'm like your hug pillow. Hehe. I'm Ms. Komari's hug pillow…" Suddenly, she grabbed Komari in a tight embrace while giggling like a small child and began to roll around with her on the blanket.

"Whoa! Hang on, Sakuna! I'm getting dizzy…" Komari tried to keep her breakfast from escaping while the sky and sea kept switching places.

"Tsk." The sound of a familiar clicking tongue grabbed Komari's attention. She looked up as Sakuna brought them to a halt, only to see Vill looking down at her, lips smashed shut as if she just bit into a lemon. "I guess a tiger can't change its stripes, and a terrorist can't stop trying to assassinate her target." She dropped the bag of popsicles at her feet and produced a kunai from… somewhere.

"No, it's not that!" Komari waved her hands around, trying to defuse the tension. "Sakuna was just trying to cool me down, that's all!"

Picking herself up off of Komari's body and standing up, Sakuna's lips curled into an uncharacteristically smug smile. "That's right, Ms. Villhaze. Since you were negligent in your duties, it fell to me to attend to Ms. Komari's needs, as her junior."

"Bullshit! I was just going to get popsicles to cool her down!" Throwing her kunai to the sand in a rage, Vill grabbed a popsicle from the bag and pointed it at Sakuna as if it was a sword. "And as Lady Komari's wife, it's my duty to attend to her nightly needs!"

Standing up on wobbly legs, Komari brushed the sand off her belly. "Don't listen to her, Sakuna! We're not married!"

Sakuna looked relieved. “Oh, so you’re single?” She nodded to herself, seemingly lost in thought. “So that means I have a chance… good…”

“The only chance you have, Lady Sakuna, is playing second fiddle,” Vill said. She expertly unwrapped the popsicle in a blur of motion. “Because Lady Komari will always love me the most!” With a straight thrust of her arm, she shoved the popsicle into Komari’s mouth. “Taste my affection, Lady Komari!”

“Vill?!” With a mouthful of icy popsicle, Komari could barely speak. A freezing chill went from the roof of her mouth directly to her brain. Vill kept moving the treat back and forth in a lewd fashion, rubbing it across Komari’s tongue.

“I am sure Ms. Komari prefers my tongue the most!” Grabbing Komari by the shoulders, Sakuna jammed her tongue into Komari’s overstuffed mouth. Warm flesh met cold, melting sugar in a whirlwind of flavors. Komari felt herself start to choke, her sensitive gag reflex going haywire from the popsicle repeatedly bumping against the back of her throat.

“Oh.” Standing up a bit straighter, Vill looked as if she had just remembered something important. “I ran into Lady Cunningham’s maid on the way over. She said Lady Cunningham is ready to receive your divine presence, Lady Komari.”

Backing away from the oral assault, Komari wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “Well, I can’t keep her waiting!” After running off a few steps, she looked back at Vill and Sakuna, who were glaring daggers at each other, while Sakuna continued to lick Komari’s saliva off the popsicle held in Vill’s hand. “And ladies, please, no fighting in the Dark Core Zone!”
