Chapter Text
Zoro wasn’t entirely sure why he agreed to this. Luffy had told him about a new restaurant that had opened a couple weeks ago, and now was practically being dragged to the place. Sure, Zoro was a little hungry though he easily could’ve gone across the street from the gym. But now here he was, almost two blocks away with his gymnast friend dragging him like dead weight.
“Luffy can you slow down?! The restaurant isn’t going anywhere.”
“But Zoroooo! I’m hungryyyyy! And Sanji’s restaurant and food are really good!!”
Guess he couldn’t argue with that. Roronoa had only heard about this restaurant from people passing and of course the slightly feral boy tugging him along. The All Blue or something, well whatever Zoro just hoped that it had some good alcohol to go with the meal. As he looked around while they walked, he tried taking in any landmarks he could. It was a nicer part of town that’s for sure, made him think this oh so great restaurant was for rich snobs. Then again Luffy had been there so maybe the prices are good, the guy was never good with saving money. Zoro was sure that Luffy’s brother Sabo handled most of the finances of the family.
“We’re heeeere!!”
Luffy yelled, opening the door with such excitement and force that it might’ve flown off the hinges. Zoro rolled his eyes before looking around, immediately noticing a couple familiar faces. Nami and Robin, museum curators, and Robin’s pseudo son Chopper who was studying historical medicine. Nami immediately noticed Luffy and Zoro enter, then she proceeded to hug the green haired one in her signature bone crushing hug. One that Luffy managed to avoid.
“Hi Zoro!!!”
“Ow- geez woman how do you hug like this. But hi Nami… where’s Usopp.”
Zoro said, catching his breath after Nami let him go. The redhead sat back down next to Robin while Luffy sat in what was deemed “Strawhat’s Seat.”
“Usopp? He had to finish up something. We got a new exhibit in today that’s part of his field.”
Nami hummed, patting the empty seat next to her. Zoro sighed before sitting down and lightly kicking Luffy to tell him to stop bouncing. Then the chef of the hour, or that’s what Roronoa assumed, came out from the kitchen and approached the group at the bar. Immediately Zoro noticed a few things. Tall, blonde, calloused hands, and… weird eyebrows.
“Hi Sanji!!! Can we eat?”
Luffy exclaimed, jumping out of his seat and leaning over the bar counter with a grin. Thankfully Nami was there to save the day and she hit the back of his head with her palm.
“Be patient you idiot. You’ll make Nami and Robin’s meal taste weird if you keep shouting. Who did you bring with you?” The blonde, Sanji said with a scowl as he placed down a glass of soda, and two glasses of iced tea for the girls and Chopper.
“Uh Roronoa Zoro… nice to meet you I guess.”
Zoro said, shrugging a little and looking at the menu. Just as Zoro immediately noticed things about Sanji, Sanji immediately noticed things about Zoro. Musclehead, quiet, green hair…
“Alright then. What do you want Mosshead?”
Mosshead? Zoro’s eyebrow twitched and he grinned a bit before looking Sanji in the eyes. He just met the chef and he’s already been given a nickname? Two can play at that game.
“For a drink, some good sake if you have it. Surprise me on the food… Curly.”
Sanji was silent after that. But he only scowled and nodded, slipping into the kitchen. The group was silent before Chopper spoke up, the teenager having been enjoying his soda this whole time.
“Zoro do you know Sanji?”
“No. We just met today. Why?”
Zoro said in response, peeking around Robin to look at Chopper. Then it was Robin’s turn to speak on the events that just took place.
“You nicknamed him when you just met him. Surely you see there’s something… odd about that.”
Roronoa paused before thinking about what just happened. In his defense Sanji was the one who started it by calling him Mosshead. The personal trainer blinked before standing up with his hands down on the bar counter. He was going to defend himself even if it kills him.
“He started it! He called me Mosshead.”
Nami started laughing, before almost falling off the stool. Then Robin joined in with Chopper also giving his laugh as input. Luffy noticed, before laughing along as well.. though he probably didn’t know what’s going on and just wanted to be included.
“What’s so funny?”
Zoro asked, raising an eyebrow before looking back and forth between the other four. As he did, Nami slowly calmed down and pretended to wipe tears from her eyes. Her green haired friend didn’t find any of it funny. The opposite actually, only adding to his confusion.
“Zoro. You two just met but you’re going to argue like an old married couple!”
Roronoa raised an eyebrow, even tilted his head a little. Old…married…couple…? He blinked a few times before finally catching on and understanding what Nami was saying. His eyes widened and he stood again, looking at the redhead. What was she on about?? Zoro frowned before slowly sitting back down, resorting to staying silent and pouting a little.
Nami laughed again before looking up as Sanji returned with their food. It’s as if the blonde had their orders memorized, and he did. Robin got a plate of sandwiches. Nami got some seafood with an orange sauce. Chopper got a vegan burger. Luffy got a whole plate of just meat, which he was a little too excited about.
Then came Zoro’s meal. The scent of seafood and freshly cooked rice, and the sake that Zoro requested filled his nose. His favorites. He had only just met Sanji, the cook that his friend had raved about for the entire 15 minute walk, and yet… there was a plate of his favorite food in front of him. White rice, seafood, and a glass of sake. Roronoa felt his mouth water and he looked up at the blonde.
“I’m impressed, I told you to surprise me and you somehow got my favorites. Good job… Dart brow.”
Zoro said, spinning a fork between his fingers and starting to dig in. He hummed and kept eating, a small smile on his face. Sanji stared at him with a sigh before giving out napkins to them all.
“You could at least say thank you, walking moss ball. But on that note. It was just a guess, it’s my job as a chef to know what people like when they come in here.”
Sanji said, putting a hand on his hip before stepping back and looking at the group. Of course at the time, he didn’t know that his restaurant the All Blue would become a certain someone’s new favorite place. He would find out tomorrow at least.
