This time, Giyu doesn’t respond at all. He stares straight ahead, his expression as unreadable as ever.
Sanemi exhales sharply through his nose, forcing himself to look away before his frustration gets the better of him. He doesn’t want to draw attention to himself, but he can feel the heat of jealousy simmering just beneath the surface. If Shinobu doesn’t back off soon, he’s not sure how much longer he can keep his composure.

Giyu hesitates. The night has been unexpectedly nice—a brief reprieve from the storm of his emotions—but this is something he hasn’t even brought himself to tell his sister yet. He should brush it off, but the weight in his chest feels unbearable, and the alcohol coursing through him makes it harder to keep his guard up.
Before he can stop himself, the words spill out: “Sabito is cheating on me.”
Sanemi freezes. His eyes widen, shock and disbelief flashing across his face. He doesn’t say anything at first, his mouth pressing into a thin line as a mixture of emotions flickers in his expression—surprise, sadness, and a spark of anger.
“That bastard.”

OR: Giyu's world comes crashing down with he finds out Sabito is cheating on him. Luckily, Sanemi is there to help pick up the pieces.

Sanemi hesitates, debating whether to say anything, then sighs, “I, uh…made this reservation. Four months ago.” He scowls, picking at his food, “Stupid, fancy place. But now…well, you know.”
Giyuu hums, nodding in understanding.
There’s another stretch of silence, and Sanemi finds himself stabbing at his food once again. Then, just when he’s about to give up on eating entirely, Giyuu speaks up.
“We could go.”

Giyu flinches at the whisper-shout, his exhaustion making him slow to process the sudden intensity. “I’m a Hashira,” he murmurs, his tone even, though the words come out softer than he intends, “I can handle it.”
“Clearly not!” Sanemi snaps back, his voice rising slightly before he reins it in, casting a glance toward the door as if to make sure no one heard, “You almost died, Giyu! You should never have gone on this mission alone, especially after Rengoku just—”
Sanemi cuts himself off abruptly, his jaw clenching as he turns his head away. His hands curl into tight fists at his sides, the knuckles pale. The unfinished sentence lingers in the air, heavy and suffocating.

OR: Giyu is always reckless on missions, getting himself hurt and throwing himself into unnecessary danger. He never thinks much of it—it’s not like anyone would care much if he did die. Sanemi decides to show him just how wrong he is.
