Work Text:
First finished texting his relatives for the night; wishing them all a happy new year. The time zones were different in Japan, but he could still feel their happiness and their love through the screen.
Khaotung was already by the window of their hotel room. First got up from the bed to join his best friend.
Both of them stared out at the sight of Japan's city lights and decorations for the new year.
"It's stunning," Khaotung remarked. The city lights reflected back onto his eyes, capturing First's attention.
"It is."
Khaotung looked at him, that same loving smile hanging from his lips. "I'm so glad that we finally were able to travel here together. "
First nodded his head, they'd been waiting for so long so being here felt like a dream. The fans, the food, the environment; it's everything he wanted and more.
First looked to Khaotung again. And most importantly, he got to be here with his best friend, the main person he wanted to do this with. His thinking was interrupted when Khaotung shook his arm, shaking him out of his train of thought.
"First, they're going to do the countdown to midnight!" Khaotung said with excitement. First looked to the big screen in front of him, seeing the number already reach "9."
He started to count along with Khaotung, their voices being the only ones echoing in the room. His mind drifted to the one act associated with the new year, the kiss people shared the moment the new year began.
First felt himself get distracted by Khaotung's lips, he was still saying the numbers but his eyes were staring at Khaotung's mouth.
Maybe it was due to the intensity of the gaze, or Khaotung thinking the same thing he turned his sights over to First again. Only to see where First's gaze stuck on his lips.
A thought flashed in Khaotung's head, and in the next moment he acted.
In the final "3,2,1," Khaotung reached out and held First's face. Their lips connected as the fireworks went off. There was silence in the background, as the soft exchange was shared in private.
First's eyes widened in surprise when Khaotung kissed him, but he melted into the kiss. It wasn't a mere peck of the lips, it was more than that.
Something felt so right about this moment, that the seconds they were conjoined together felt like an eternity.
Khaotung pulled away, slightly licking his lips, tasting the sweetness. After his very impulsive decision did he realize that he just kissed First without any warning.
He snuck a glance at First to try to gauge his reaction, but First's focus was still on his lips, which caused his action in the first place.
"First," He called out.
First finally met his eyes.
"Happy New Year, friend. "
"Happy New Year…friend."
