Turning in his wings, he thanked his friend for saving him, and now he is packing his things to leave.
"Cougar, what are you doing?" Without looking at his RIO, he sighed and keep on packing.
"I'm leaving Merlin, I turn in my wings"
"What? Why? Cougar, what am I gonna do without you?" Turning around to look at Merlin, "Sam, I orphan my son and my wife is pregnant with my second kid. That MiG screwed me up and if my children grew up without a father, I will never forgive myself. I'm sorry but I have to leave you."
"But, Bill-"
"Sam, you're gonna find someone and you'll do good without me" and with that, Bill Cortell left the Navy and went back to Missouri.
"Farewell Bill Cortell. You'll always be Cougar to me" Merlin doesn't know what the Navy is gonna do with him now. But he's just nobody in the Navy.
Bill went back to Missouri, it felt strange to be home as a civilian now.
He hesitated at first before knocking the door and his wife opens it. She hug him with joy and he hug her back before he rub her belly then walking inside to find his son playing with some toys.
Bill watches his son play but his mind focus on what's his friends will be like now that he's gone.
