Work Header

That one time at a band competition, there was two love confessions.

Summary:

Langa finally gains the courage to asks Reki out, what's more Romanic then being asked out via a band-a-gram? well it would have been amazing if Langa would have remembered to sign his name. But lucky for Langa the boy he shares a brain cell with also asks him out via Band-a-gram. Wait, he also forgot to sign it.

or

Two morons forget to sign their names after asking the other out, via band-a-grams......

Notes:

Langa - clarinet

Reki- trombone

Miya- saxophone- middle school marcher

Cherry- color guard instructor

Joe- the band director, ( hes only doing it bc cherry works there)

shadow - He fell for a 'single' band mom.

Adam- reads the announcements

if you're not a band kid, a band-A-gram is basically people can write notes to the band or members in the band while they're marching out onto the field in competition.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Langa waited nervously, as they watched the band before them. His heart pounded into his chest, he's never been more nervous in his life.

"So you're doing it?" Miya asked Langa.

"Yes, you watched me do it." Langa sighed.

"Hey, watch it, you're going to break your reed." Miya scolded.

"What if he says no? What do I do then?" Langa asked, looking down.

"Pray you forgot to sign it." Miya shrugged.

"Langa! Bro, Zip me." Reki yelled, running over.

"You slime, your helmet isn't on right, Dumbass." Miya sighed, as Langa zipped Reki's uniform, and fixed his helmet.

"Your one to talk, Your plume is on backward, hun." Reki smiled.

"No, it's not! Upperclassmen use that to fuck with the underclass!" Miya shouted.

"Now that you mentioned it, Reki. It looks like Miya got a girl plume." Langa looked over.

"Yeah, it has too much color on the tips." Reki looked over.

"No! I won't fall for your tricks." Miya shouted, kicking Reki in the leg.

"Hey, tuck your laces dumbass." Reki half shouted at Miya.

Langa stood in his line as he waited for the director to signal them to move on to the field. We started to move forward in our four lines,

"Welcome to the field, The Okinawa West Marching Band, they will be performing their 2022 marching show titled, Orpheus in the underworld." Adam Spoke into the mic.

"We have some messages to the band." Tadashi said. "First to Reki Kyan, Will you go to Homecoming with me? Fro- Huh? It's blank." The band erupted with aws. "To Langa Hasegawa, Will you go to Homecoming with me? From it's blank again." Tadashi sighed.

"To Dumb and Dumber, Your morons. From Miya Chinen."

"To Reki Kyan and Langa Hasegawa, make sure Langa has the brain cell for his solo, From the whole band." The band laughed quietly as they started to march onto the field.

"Drum majors, is your band ready?" Adam asked, the director's went around to make sure the mics were working and the props were in the correct place.

After the show had ended Langa was putting his Clarinet away. After he changed out of his uniform, Reki came over.

"So, want to go to Homecoming with me?" Reki smiled, and Langa smiled.

"Yes, I would love to." Langa smiled, Reki smiled back.

"Wanna go eat Pizza and skate?" Reki smiled, Langa nodded. The two idiots skated around before finding a nice area to hang out. Langa laid his head against Rekis shoulder smiling.

"Langa? When do you think I should tell Joe, I broke my slide again?" Reki half laughed.

"What, how'd you break it again?" Langa looked over.

"I ran into the mountain. It's not my fault, Old Man Shadow put it in the wrong place again." Reki put his hands up to defend himself.

"Considering we might be doing finals, I would tell him. You're kinda important in the beginning of the show." Langa scolded.

"Yeah, but I'd have to get up." Reki looked over.

"Reki, he'll kill you if you tell him right before we're going to perform." Langa stared at him. "You can't go to homecoming with me if you're dead."

"Well you come with me? I'll buy you a milkshake?"

"Reki, you never drink a milk shake before or after a performance." Langa sighed, standing up. "But I'll go with you." Langa pulled Reki to stand.

"Thanks, Langa." Reki smiled, Langa blushed a bit. "Wanna hold hands?" Reki asked, holding out his hand to Langa.

"Yeah, I'd love that." Langa took Rekis hand after grabbing his skateboard. They walked to where Joe and Cherry were. Reki let go of Langas hand when they got over there.

"Jo-"

"Outside of S my names Mr. Nanjo. You know this." Joe hit Rekis head.

"Can you fix my slide again? It broke when I hit the mountain." Reki put his hand behind his head.

"Reki, this is the eighth time this week." Joe sighed "I see you six days a week." Joe looked like he was about to beat an idiot.

"Okay Miya broke it last time." Reki tried to defend himself.

"You dropped it on your own, Slime." Miya passed by Joe walking over to Cherry. "Mom, I'm hungry." Cherry gave him an angry glare.

"Don't you have money?" Cherry asked, and Miya looked away.

"I did, but one of the seniors took it from me again." Miya sighed, Cherry placed his hand on Miya's back leading him over to get some food.

"Reki, Langa. Legally I'm not allowed to hit a kid. So can you two fight them?" Joe asked

"You do realize you can get them suspended for bullying a middle schooler." Langa said.

"Before you fight a teen, can you fix my trombone?" Reki asked, Joe pointed over to the instruments and Reki ran over and got his.

After a few hours Langa sat on the bleachers with his head on Reki's shoulder. They had a couple of hours till they performed in finals, they cleaned house along with getting first in their class.

"Hey before we put our helmets on later, can we take a pitcher?"Reki asked, laying his head on Langas.

"Yeah, want to go to the bus and cuddle till we have to get up?" Langa asked and Reki nodded.

Reki and Langa woke up and changed into their uniforms, and left the bus before putting on their helmets.

"Miya! Take a photo of us please?" Reki smiled over at Miya.

"Fine." Miya took a photo as they looked awkward but cute. Miya gave the phone back. They parted ways to get fully ready before their warm ups.

"Reki, I swear, if you break my silver trombone I'll kill you." Joe threatened Reki.

"Don't worry! I swear!" Reki smiled, hoping Joe wouldn't hurt him.

"Joe, My keys are sticking." Langa said, Handing him his clarinet. "And my reed is chipped."

"Alright." Joe easily fixed the keys with a dollar and a screwdriver. Joe pulled a new reed out of his pocket and Handed both to Langa. "There."

"He doesn't get threatened?"

"He doesn't break his instrument three times a week, Reki." Joe gave Reki a look. As Reki pouted, Joe walked away done with this kid's bullshit. Langa took this opportunity to kiss Reki's cheek.

"You look cute when you pout." Langa smiled as REki went red. "Come on, we need to get with our sections." Langa smiled walking away from Reki, his face now going a light pink.

After an outstanding performance, Reki and Langa sat in the bleachers with a blanket covering them as the home band performed their show. Reki locked hands with Langa, laying his head on Langa's shoulder.

"Hey Reki?"

"Hum?"

"Do you want to be more than friends?"

"I wouldn't have asked you to homecoming if I didn't." Reki sassed.

"Do you want to be my Boyfriend?" Langa asked softly.

"Do you want to be mine?" Reki asked.

"Fuck yes." Langa laughed.

"Wanna kiss if we get into the top three?" Reki raised an eyebrow.

"I want to kiss even if we get last." Langa laughed, placing his lips on Rekis forehead.

They got down to the final two bands, their school still hasn't been called.

"Ready for our first kiss?" Reki asked Langa.

"Yep." Langa smiled at Reki. Langa cupped Rekis face after the second place was about to be called, Reki placed his hand over Langas kissing his hand. Langa pulled Reki in and Reki leaned over, Langa hesitated and REki pressed his lips against Langa's, he kissed him back. They pulled away and Langa put his head in Reki's chest, blushing hard.

"You're a good kisser." Reki laughed, hugging Langa.

"So are you." Langa blushed harder, feeling Rekis unsteady heartbeat. The boys parted when the band got up to go back to the buses.

"Langa, how does it feel to get the best solo award?" Shadow asked.

"I got an award?" Langa looked at Shadow confused. Shadow shook his head and Langa got onto the bus. Reki was waiting for him in the seat across from him.

"Wanna cuddle when the lights go out?" Reki whispered.

"We can't fall asleep, or Joe will kill us." Langa whispered back. After a head count, the lights went out and the buses started to move. Reki and Langa chose to sit near the back so Langa's tall ass could lay down in his seat. He fixed his pillow and gave Reki a look. Reki smiled and flopped onto Langa, bringing his blanket with him. Reki moved in front of Langa onto his side and Langa did the same since he's taller than Reki. He wrapped his arm around Reki's front pulling him closer.

"Goodnight Reki, my love." Langa kissed his head.

"Good Night Langa." Reki grabbed hold of Langa.
