Museum Tragedies

“Octavius, Octavius, where are you?” Jedediah called out hoping for a response.

He couldn't hear anything over the sound of scattered footsteps and Larry's constant yelling, panic creeping into his mind. What if Octavius is lost or hurt? What if he doesn't make it back in time before the museum opens? What will happen to him? Lost in his anxious thoughts, his concern only grew until he heard a familiar voice shout in response. His head shot up, frantically looking around, eyes narrowing in on Octavius mixed in a crowd of people. Tears welled in his eye as he ran towards Octavius, all fear and worry he had felt washed away. Each step closer to him filled him with warmth and comfort. As he approached, he noticed the way Octavius’s armor was broken and contorted in horrible ways, and his once sparkling red cape was now tattered and dirty, clumped beneath him. The previous feelings of worth and comfort were crushed as a suffocating sense of dread washed over once him again.

“Octavius!” Jedediah yelled out as he held the now-broken man.

“Jedediah,” Octavius uttered with a broken, somber voice.

“Who did this to you? Are you ok?” Jedediah questioned, anger appearing in his eyes.

“I'm okay, but I don't know who did it.”

“We need to go, can you walk?”

“No.”

With that answer, Jedediah picked up the injured warrior and started making his way toward the exhibits.

“You need to leave me and go,” Octavius pleaded.

“I'm not leaving you,” Jedediah declared, determination filling his voice.

“Listen to me, you won't get there in time if you carry me,” Octavius said, pain lacing his voice.

“I don't care! I can't leave you behind,” Jedediah said with tears flowing down his face.

Without muttering any more words, Jedediah heaved Octavius onto his back, holding him tight as he began the long trek back to the exhibit.
