Alpha & Omega AU
- A smell caught my attention first as I entered the auditorium where choir would take place. It was another wolf for sure. The intoxicating scent stirring something inside me; making my wolf howl in exciting pleasure. This feeling is one I've never felt before. Chapter 1: 1. New Beginnings

Chapter Text

Jeon Jungkook, a 17-year-old boy, was the next in line Alpha to his family’s pack, The Kooks. The pack consisted of 153 wolves who recently had to move upstate due to a devastating forest fire. The move wasn’t much of a hassle as The Kooks Pack was one of the wealthiest in western America. Making Jungkook’s future decisions as he gets older increasingly important, being he’s an only child destined to run his father’s ever-growing pack. The move brought the Kooks close to the neighboring pack, The Granards Pack, standing with 74 members. Despite The Granards Pack being less than 2/3’s the size of the Kooks it holds precedent value in the Wolve Conclave (a meeting that happens yearly amount all of the sanctioned packs in the United States to discuss important worldly matters and decisions that could affect their species etc.) The Granards are one of the originating packs who first formed the conclave, making them one amount the Commanding Five. The pack is full of pure breeds and are very picky when it comes to allowing others to join as their image is often looked at and held with a higher regard. Despite this, their numbers or lack of causes problems in being seen among the five themselves.

The move aligning The Kooks next to The Granards would be more of a problem due to territorial reasons, but the Kooks and Granards had made a compromise to marry Jungkook to one of the leaders’ daughters. This being beneficial for The Kooks making their way up in the social latter, while additionally being an extreme benefit for the Granards by strengthening their territory, giving them more backing at the Conclave and some economic gain. Uniting the two by blood was a flourishing idea, but not for Jungkook himself. Jungkook dreaded the thought of potentially marrying someone for the benefit of others. He wanted to find his mate on his own and not feel forced into picking someone just because it was expected of him. Even though he hated It, he knew that the packs future was on his shoulders, and he had no say or option in the arrangement. Sacrificing his own search for love turned out to not be as easy as he thought it would be; especially when he meets Park Jimin.

First days are always the worst, but even more when it’s at a new school. The only thing making it bearable was Jungkook’s pack members who joined him at the new school, Rivergate High School. The High School was composed of locals, The Granards Pack, and now The Kooks Pack.

To say Jungkook was nervous was an understatement. Being thrown into a small town, high school with a population of 287 students and not even being introduced to any of the Granards pack members who he would soon embrace as his own is nerve racking almost to the point of being scary. Not only that but he’s soon to be engaged to a girl he doesn’t even know, and the pressure is astronomically killing! He feels like he’s going to vomit and faint all at once.

“Namjoon, can you smell my nerves?” Jungkook asked with a grim pout on his face as they sat in his car staring at the eye-catching high school that was flooding with students entering. Namjoon looked at Jungkook chuckling lightly, “Not at all, your big alpha scent is all any wolf is going to be able to notice as you go in…. which may actually be worse now that I think about it. And well you’re one of the best-looking guys I know JK all the lame norms are gunna be in love with you” Namjoon said patting Jungkook on the shoulder with an endearing smile. “Thanks for the pep-talk,” Jungkook gulped deeply feeling even more petrified at Namjoon’s attempted encouragement. With a deep sigh out Jungkook opened his door to get out of the car. He’s never been the most into school so that prospect on top of the many others leaves him with a swelling bad feeling.

“we’ve got this!” Namjoon whispers as they made it to one of the double set doors at the front entrance leading into Jungkook’s expected demise. Jungkook nods as Namjoon holds the door open for him as he enters their new school for senior year. Heads turn within’ seconds of Jungkook being in the building, which is startling to him, considering the population is mostly humans and to add on to that there’s actually so many people within’ the halls Jungkook didn’t really believe anyone would notice his new presence. How wonderful it would have been if no one did, but that was for sure not the case as whispers were erupting while Jungkook worriedly started his march towards finding his locker. The commotion is making Jungkook second guess his fit for the first day, he should have dressed down more. Jungkook was wearing a white muscle shirt paired with black skinny jeans and a white bomber jacket; topped with some of his favorite chains. It wasn’t close to anything eye-catching Jungkook had in his closet so he can’t fathom how he went so wrong.

Jungkook wouldn’t describe himself as the quiet shy type, but consistent attention made him that way. He would sink into his own thoughts from nerves that made him scared, and he’d swim in them until they were unbearable. He would cover his ears or face to pull himself out. Just when he was about to cecum to such behavior, Hoseok his best friend would always take his mind off of his problems as if he could sense when Jungkook felt off. Almost as if on cue; Jungkook spotted him leaning against a locker smiling from ear to ear at the sight of Jungkook and Namjoon. “Took you guys long enough, I feel like I’ve been waiting at your locker for forever!” He gleamed while taking Jungkook into a hug instantly. His nerves faded with that hug, letting him know that he’s not the only one going through so much change, they all were, his whole pack. “J-hope what’s your schedule like?” Namjoon perks up in hope. J-hope released his hold on Jungkook looking for his schedule. Let’s just say that Namjoon was one of the smartest people Jungkook knew and that meant that they didn’t have any classes together whatsoever. Jungkook tried to not think too much about it because he should at least have one pack member or more in each class, right? With that said J-hope was luckily in 2 of Jungkook’s 5 classes: Calculus and Environmental Science. That just means he needs to find a friend in English 12, Choir, and Fine Art. Not so bad; especially based on the whispers Jungkook had to endure hearing on his way to his locker. The students seem to want to get to know him already. With that said the first bell rings signaling them to head to their designated first classes; Jungkook’s being Calculus with J-hope. “Bye JK and J-hope see you during Lunch?” Namjoon prompted receiving a nod of agreement from the two.

“Have you met or talked to anyone?” Jungkook asked J-hope curiously as they headed to their first class. J-hope was the type of person who was friends with everyone and was easy to talk to and be around. Jungkook wouldn’t be surprised if he was friends with half the school already. J-hope laughed and nodded, “Yeah I decided to walk to school and tagged along with three wolves from The Granards Pack; one of them I think you’d be interested to know about.” J-hope said raising his eyebrow to Jungkook. Jungkook’s attention intensified at the mention of the other pack, “Who?” he asked with a worried but curious expression, his big doe eyes glistening. Did he already meet one of Kim Byung-ho’s daughters? Jungkook wondered. “One of them was Kim Byung-ho’s son! His name is Kim Taehyung and he’s our year. I honestly think you guys would be such great friends, he's super nice and interesting!” J-hope shared in an excited whisper, putting his hand on Jungkook’s shoulder as they entered their first class of the day. Jungkook gulped at the thought of meeting his future brother-in-law and at the tension he knows will be there between them due to the circumstances. There teacher didn’t let him dwell on this idea as she greeted both of them as they entered, “Hi, you two must be part of the new students! One of your fellow friends is also in this class, “She gestured towards Shin Ji-a, one of our pack’s most petite members. Ji-a waved with a tiny smile. J-hope and Jungkook returned the gesture. “My names Hwang Seo-Yeon, you can address me as Mrs. Hwang. You two can go find some seats and we’ll do introductions during attendance!” she said, ending with a clap. Jungkook and J-hope both bowed with smiles and headed towards where Ji-a was sitting. “Hi Ji-a,” Jungkook greeted her casually as he and J-hope sat down in the two seats behind her. She blushed as he said her name, bowing while greeting, “Hi Alpha Jungkook-ah” She whispered. Jungkook grinned at her cute politeness. J-hope and Ji-a got to talking as Jungkook started zoning out and taking in the people filing into the classroom. Most were humans but he could pick up on the scent of a couple of wolves that entered and ones who were already in the room. It was evident that they picked up on his scent as well when all of them gave him curious scared glances throughout the couple of minutes of being in his presence followed by quick tiny head bows of greeting. The second bell rang signaling the beginning of class.

With that Mrs. Hwang started with attendance and when it came to Jungkook’s turn he was prompted to stand up and say a little about himself. “Hi I’m Jeon Jungkook, I’m an only child and ahh….my favorite hobby is singing,” he said shyly with some small bows towards his classmates. He heard Oo’s at the mention of him singing and felt the warmth of a blush tinting his cheeks. “Oo are you going to be apart of our Choir?” Mrs. Hwang asked for her and the other students who were curious. Jungkook nodded with a “yes, yes I’m excited for that class.” With that Mrs. Hwang nodded and smiled, moving on to the next student. When it was Ji-a and J-hope’s turn they answered similarly saying their favorite hobbies. J-hopes being dancing and Ji-as was writing. The class went on without any bumps, just normal first day activities of going over the syllabus for the year and students sharing what they did over the summer. Mrs. Hwang didn’t ask about the forest fire that they had to endure, which was considerate but honestly surprising. The bell rang, erupting a chatter within’ the class as everyone packed up to head to their next class. Jungkook did the same chatting with Ji-a and J-hope as he did. “Jungkook-ah I think we have art together last period!” Ji-a smiled happily. Jungkook returned the smile with a happy sigh, “Ah thank God, I’m honestly so nervous of not knowing anyone in a class.” “Me too me too, but the others should be friendly towards us, right? Since we’ll become one pack sooner or later anyways ya’know?” she asked with slight concern. “Stop it you two, we’ll be just fine; everyone’s super nice if you’ll just stop being so shy guys.” J-hope said with a slight eye roll and an endearing smile. Ji-a and Jungkook both huffed at the same time, causing them to giggle cutely as they finally headed out the room into the now crowded halls. “I’m going to head to my English class, see you in Environmental Science J-hope and Lunch Ji-a?” J-hope responded with a yep and Ji-a with a shy nod. All of them splitting up to head towards their next class.

Jungkook’s nerves kicked in again as he walked the hall alone, people staring at him as they passed and the wolves giving small head bows in respect; some doing so unknowingly when picking up his scent. Jungkook knows he should act more dominant as the future alpha of his pack, but he can’t help but be the timid person he is. That is until he comes face to face with Kim Taehyung when he enters his English 12 class.
