Work Text:
Akutagawa stared at himself in the mirror. His eyes narrow as they focus on one feature on his face. My eyebrows are too thick , he thought to himself.
He went to the nearest store, and bought some scissors. When he got back, he trimmed each eyebrow to the perfect thickness he wanted. The only issue was that one eyebrow was slightly longer than the other. He trimmed the other one to match it.
Now the other one is longer , he realized. He trimmed the other to match. He trimmed and trimmed, but he could never get each side to match the other. Eventually an hour passed, and he was left with no eyebrows.
Well this isn’t good , he sighed. What do I do now? I cut off my eyebrows on accident. He decided to draw some on. At first, he tried with a pen. He didn’t like the look of it. Isn’t there a pen that people use to draw eyebrows?
After a quick search on the internet, he found that there was in fact an eyebrow pencil and pen. To start off, he asked Gin if she had an eyebrow pen or pencil. She didn’t. He had to make another trip to the store. He was surprised by the reaction of the cashier; Their eyes were wide open after seeing him.
“Was it the scissors?” The cashier asked. Akutagawa’s forehead crinkled. He had a look of anger on his face, but he was really trying to express confusion. It was hard without eyebrows to knit together. “I’m sorry sir, I don’t mean to pry! You checked out earlier, and you still had eyebrows. But you were buying scissors”
“Oh,” Akutagawa responds passively. “Then yes, it was the scissors”
When he got back, he made an attempt to draw on eyebrows. Gin watched; Asking if he needed help, “Are you sure you don’t want me to try drawing them?”
“I can do it myself!” Akutagawa grumbles; Immediately messing up the eyebrow he drew, “Fuck!”
All sorts of profanities were yelled that night. It took 4 hours of drawing, messing up, washing it off, and redrawing before Akutagawa finally gave up. His skin was red from all the rubbing on the wash cloth. Of course, the skin was rubbed raw so it was irritated. He went to his sister.
“Could you draw on my eyebrows?” Akutagawa asks.
“Yep!” Gin smiles.
When she was finished, the eyebrows looked better. Even so, he felt it just wasn’t right, and ended up having to wash it off before bed anyway. The outcome he went with was to just leave it.
After waking up and looking in the mirror everyday, Akutagawa got used to his eyebrows not being there. He was so used to it that when his eyebrows started to grow back, he’d just shave them off again. Gin will never be able to forget when she came home to her brother with a razor and shaving cream to his just sprouted eyebrows.
