Work Text:
Dazai once got upset by Ranpo. Ranpo revealed a secret that Dazai didn’t want others knowing about, and he wanted revenge.
Dazai started off by acting normal. He told Ranpo that he came up with a note for him to decode for fun. Ranpo was already aware that Dazai was upset, and attempting to take revenge. He decided he’d decode the message, and avoid wherever the message told him to go.
When he decoded the message after a minute, the message said as read: “Next part of the note is next to the bridge I met Atsushi at, go or you won’t see your snacks again.”
Ranpo took that threat with a grain of salt. He didn’t go, but the note followed through. The food he always kept near his desk was gone. Even his secret stashes that he was sure no one knew about weren’t there. To make matters worse, he couldn’t get others to but any for him. It didn’t matter what plan he came up with, he could never get his hands on the snacks he asked for.
He asked Yosano to get some when she was heading to the store. She came back, but his snacks were no where to be seen. “Dazai told me on my way out that Kunikida had gotten you some, so I didn’t get you any.”
He tried Atsushi this time. When he came back, Atsushi had a nervous expression on his face, “When I got to the store, they didn’t have any.”
“What do you mean they didn’t have any? No chips? Soda? Cookies? Crackers?” Ranpo interrogated. Atsushi shook his head.
“I’ve never seen the store so empty before,” Atsushi told him. “I tried to go to others, but all of the local stores seemed to have been sold out on any snack items”
Dazai managed to make the local stores sold out of snacks? It was only three weeks later when he finally thought back on it, and realized Dazai asked Akutagawa to buy all of the snacks. The Port Mafia was no where near running low on snacks for a while after.
Ranpo finally went to the bridge. He was reluctant, but it was for the sake of getting his food back. It had to be done. The bridge had a note taped to it. He decoded that message.
“Never going to give you up, never going to let you down, never going to run around and desert you”
Ranpo hated the song before Rickrolling became a big thing. He hated it even more after it became thing. It never happened to him because he was careful. It never happened until today at least.
The next day, his desk had all of the snacks he had lost. It was as though they were never gone in the first place.
