Summary
The days and nights were monotonous in the city of a thousand lights, especially when those lights gave no warmth to those who stepped under them. They served only to show, unveil, betray and spy; that was what the neon lights in the main streets did, the one and only function of the jagged streetlights in the back alleys that always threatened to go out. They bared all who roamed the city and smiled at them with crooked fangs, waiting for them to fall in the hands of those who were born to punish. The cold city lights knew everyone, for better or worse.
