Let's Go Back

Summary:

Harvey and Donna find out they don't really like Seattle after all....

Notes:

this is a satire story as I have lived in Seattle my whole life and still do and I hate it. Funny because I want to leave for NYC

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Ladies and Gentleman, we will begin our descent in half an hour. Weather is cloudy with rain and temperature is currently 40 degrees. If you’re on the right side of the plane you’ll be able to see the space needle and Pike Place Market. Welcome to Seattle.”

“Are you nervous?” Donna looks to Harvey who is messing around with cufflinks and gazing out the window.

“It’s so dreary here, and I get Mike and Rachel are here, but still- everyone else is on the East Coast. We’re on the other end of the continent.”

“We’re making the best of it.”

They share a quick kiss.

The plane lands and Harvey groans at how long it’s taking for for the few people in front of them to get moving. Unlike the east coast, the west coast is just a family of snails. People don’t hustle. Harvey wanted to smack them but maybe it’s the fact that he was just exhausted.

When he entered the baggage claim, the bags took an hour to come which made no sense but there was visibly no staff around. Kids screaming and riding suitcases was a nightmare. JUST HUSTLE. On top of that, his bag had to be the last one to come out on the conveyer belt. He hid his dissatisfaction for Donna because she seemed to like Seattle more than him.

When they got in the private car, Harvey couldn’t help but notice how everyone dresses like a grungy slob. He scoffed. This wouldn’t do. Even people who went to work just dressed like Sasquatches in their plaid pajamas and man buns and beards. What was this? Harvey felt like No one cares about their appearance? All these Microsoft techies and their gross man buns and pajamas. Yikes. Why do employers allow this? They can work from home in their bed which Harvey was just appalled at when reading a magazine about Seattle culture.

The rain just wouldn’t stop and everything was green and icky. Harvey envisioned going to the pier with Donna at sunset but it’s like the color was washed away from everything. It was all shades of green and grey.

Harvey sucked in breath and sighed in relief when they got to his new apartment building. He honestly did not like the area but at least he had the highest penthouse.

They got in and it was all perfect but just dreary.

“Let’s go see Mike,” Harvey said to Donna as soon as he washed up.

“So soon?”

“What else do we do in this miserable city besides eat fish and see homeless tents.”

“Are you really that rude?” She smacked his shoulder.

“No…. I guess I just will have to get used to this place…. of extreme liberal hippies.”

“At least we aren’t in Portland.”

One month later:

“Donna.”

“Harvey.”

“I have an idea.”

“What is it?”

“Let’s go back to NYC.”

Notes:

Just don't ever choose Seattle over NYC..... take it from my experience. I've been to NYC. MUch much better
