"Tourette's Syndrome" the doctor said and everyone in the room stilled, except for Vincent, of course.
"I don't understand" Robert said, shaking his head. "Is there, like, a cure for that?"
"There are therapies and medications that you can try to help him manage his tics better" the doctor explained. "But there is no cure for Tourette's Syndrome"
"Fuck off!" Vincent yelped, his neck jerking as he did so. His parents looked over at him. Robert frowned. His mother smiled weakly.
"Okay" his mother nodded, turning back to the doctor. "Thank you, doctor"
"No" Robert shook his head. "No. I don't want my kid to have this... Thing"
"Robert, there's nothing we can do" his mother tried to calm the man. Vincent's tics were worsening where he sat, but no one really noticed.
"Fuck! Fuck off! Haha! Cunt! Can't- Can't- Haha!"
Robert stood up and left the room, leaving his ticcing son, his wife, and the doctor to contemplate by themselves.
"Thank you, doctor, for giving us answers" his mother smiled weakly at the doctor, who just nodded. "Come on, Vincent" she said, standing up. "Let's go home"
"Does dad- Fuck! Haha!- Not love me any- Cunt!- Anymore?"
"No, Vincent" his mother shook her head. "He still loves you. He's just processing"
"Okay..."
"Come along" his mom gestured for him to follow her out. "We'll get you some ice cream. How does that sound?"
Vincent brightened at that and lept up, excited for ice cream.
