Ocean Hesitated
That was it, or in more specific words, that was the undoing of death.
After 6 teenagers, the Saint Cassian Choir, all perished in a horrible roller coaster accident. A roller coaster accident that decapitated one of them, rendering her a Jane Doe. They all sang their Laments and Ballads, their songs about cat orgys, and heart shattering belts about lost love, it all led up to this moment.
Ocean was selected as the one to have to choose who will return to life to live on after the accident.
She was scared, shitless.
As much as she wanted to choose herself, she couldn't. Ocean hated herself in that moment and knew out of everyone there, she deserved to go back the least as she treated the people she called her friends like garbage. Like, she bearly even got to know her best friend, Constance Blackwood.
As she looked at all of her 'acquaintances', as she felt was a better name, she suddenly locked eyes with the one of them, Jane Doe. The unidentified body of the accident, apparently she lost her head and SOMEHOW, it was never found. strange warmth filt the gingers chest, it's been like that the entire time. Every time Ocean would lock eyes with Jane, she would get a strange feeling in her chest. She wouldn't get the feeling with anyone else, not even Constance, and it confused her. Why does she feel so safe and comforted by the strange girl? Why has she felt drawn to her?
Ocean knows she's forgetting something-someone, and it makes her mad. She always hated forgetting stuff.
Ocean tries her best to recall the girl, seemingly lost in thought as she completely ignores Karnaks shoutings. She tries to remember who Jane is to make Ocean feel so safe, but there's nothing. She can't remember at all.
As a loud boom thunders overhead, Ocean is whipped out of thought as she turns to face the old novelty machine, Karnak, shouting that she needs to hurry and choose as there isn't much time.
"I- Uh..." Ocean stammers out, realizing that she can't hold off this decision as much as she wanted to.
"I choose.. I choose. Uhm.."
Ocean glances between all her choirmates. She can't decide.
Suddenly, she locks eyes AGAIN with the teenage doll and the warmth reappears. Ocean can't help but stare into the deep black eyes of Jane.
Ocean Hesitates
BOOM.
Loud sparks start flying over the kids head as Karnak begins to speak, but the crashing noises drown him out.
All the choir can hear are the sparks of broken wires, loud slams from god knows where in that warehouse, and each others screams.
"We need to go, NOW!" Someone, presumably Noel, screams over everyone as the choir seem to all notice at the same time that the curtain that covered the 'portal' back to life was still uncovered.
One by one, the kids start sprinting out. First Mischa, who was dragging Constance and Ricky by their hands, then Noel. Ocean starts booking it to the portal till she turns and realizes, Jane is just, standing there.
"Jane! We need to leave!" she shouts. As she begins rushing over to Jane
"I can't.." The doll starts but Ocean doesn't listen. She grabs Jane by the hand and drags her with her towards the portal.
"C'mon dollhead! Move!"
A white light envelopes the two girls.
Ocean suddenly wakes up. She's on the ground, specifically gravel ground. Which is strange because they were just in a warehouse, which had a concrete floor.
Ocean tries to sit up but can't, she feels weak. The groans of her choir members and screams of people she can't recognize suddenly overcome the ringing that was in her ears. The brightness of the sun forces her to close her eyes. As Ocean slowly regains more senses, she realizes...
She was in a lot of pain.
Chapter 2: The (not so pleasant) Return
Summary:
Breaking the rules of the game comes with its own consequences. None of them left the purgatory they were trapped in scratch free. At least they all came back, or at least they think all of them. They can look later, they all got some grueling injuries they gotta take care of first.
Notes:
Heyy quick warning, I describe some injuries in detail so like itty bitty gore warning. Nothing to serious just throwing the warning out there in case...

Chapter Text
Pure Pain.
That's the only way it could be described. Pure, agonizing, pains. Slowly coming to your senses after feeling like you just got hit with a flash bang only to be met with the worst pain ever experienced is not the best thing. And Ocean knew this.
Slowly regaining her senses she slowly became aware of how much everything hurt. Trying to move her legs only to be met with a burning sensation. that same sensation was imbedded in her arms and even her face. The sounds of her Choirmates all coming to their senses and, definitely also having similar injuries, all started to realize the agonizing pain they were in as well.
Ocean could hear Mischa, she think it was Mischa at least, she couldn't tell, start to scream. The voices of the 5 other kids began to all blur into one in Oceans ears as they all began to cry, scream, or groan.
She reached her hand up to the left side of her face and gently touch it. Only to be met with a feeling akin to a burn wound, Ocean whipped her hand away as fast as her body would allow her and inspected her hand, it was hard as the vision on the left side of her face was EXTREMELY blurry, no matter how much she squinted. Her hand was coated in blood and another weird, clear liquid. Ocean would've normally be able to identify it but her brain was so fuzzed right now she can't even tell if the blood came from the left or right side of her face.
Ocean wanted to sit up, to see her choirmates. She had to. She felt like she couldn't see or talk but all Ocean wanted to do was to make sure her friends were alright. It was the most she could do in the moment, anyways.
Putting her absolutely ripped to shreds elbows down, she could feel the gravel dig into her raw skin and probably cause more bleeding than there already was, but the pain didn't bother the determined ginger, she HAD to see her friends. Putting all the pressure in her elbows to attempt to boost herself up was more work than Ocean expected. She had to grudge through the horrific feeling of her raw flesh being cut more than it already was as the small rocks dug deeper and deeper into her as she put more pressure on her elbows. Trying to scrunch her eyebrows out of frustration, Ocean was met with even more burning pain, she couldn't even tell where the pain was at this point as all she knew was that it hurts. She was struggling definitely, but it wasn't going to stop her.
After what felt like days of pushing just to sit up, feeling her flesh tear, the blood drip off her eyebrow, the blood slowly soaking her clothes, and the fading vision due to the pain of the rocks digging into her raw flesh, Ocean finally sat up the best she could. Looking around, her choirmates were all in spots of their own, each with their own injuries. Ocean could see Constance, who was sitting in the cart next to her, laying face down with her arm bent in a shape it definitely shouldn't be in, it looking like it was put on backwards with a extra elbow in it.
Mischa and Noel who, presumably, rode in the same cart must have been hanging on to each other as they only seem to have injuries on either their left or right side, though, Noel's leg was bent a weird way, it was most likely broken. And Mischa, who was still in cart, was pushed up against the handrail, dangling over it. Ocean couldn't see well but she swears she saw a piece of the handrail precariously close to Mischa's torso, as if it was IN his torso...
Oceans didn't dwell on the thought to much as her eyes fluttered over to Ricky, who was laying absolutely twisted on the ground. He was unconscious, the pain must have been too much for him. The ginger tried to inspect Ricky's body as much as she could, her eyes gliding over his much-more-pale than usual face till she slowly led her own eyes down to his.. leg..?
His ONE leg.....
Ricky has lost a leg.
Ocean felt panic rise in her chest seeing the stump where her friends knee should have been. The other leg was nowhere to be seen and blood was pooling fast at the end of the mangled, twisted, flesh that Ricky's leg should've been at.
Ocean had to look away as the panic turned into sickness. She looked down at her own leg and didn't even realize but, her leg did NOT look right. It was twisted in such a way that would've been completely impossible. Ocean attempted to move it only to be met with a weak shake of it and a groan of pain leaving her lips.
She reached her hand over to attempt to feel it and the second she rested her hand on it, she knew. Her leg was completely shattered. Twisted around and round, completely broken like a mirror being thrown at a wall.
Focusing her eyes the best she could on her leg. She could see red liquid slowly pooling around the bottom of her leg, the skin there was completely gone. Ocean was guessing it was all ripped off from friction as she has similar injuries all over her left side. She couldn't see it yea, but she could definitely feel it. Her clothes sticking to her dead and raw skin, creating a sense of claustrophobia in her own clothes and making her feel like she's being pricked by millions of tiny needles. Her elbows still being pierced by the unnecessarily sharp gravel of the fairs ground and the blood on her face only growing with the passing minute.
Ocean tried to look away from her own sickening injuries, back at her choirmates, it wasn't much different as if she was looking at herself, as they all had injuries that made the pit in her stomach find its way to her throat. Trying to find somewhere, ANYwhere else to look, Oceans eyes began darting around as she could hear sirens approaching. eyes darting between Mischa, Noel, Constance, Ricky.
Mischa, Noel, Constance, Ricky.
Mischa, Noel...Constance....Ricky...?
Constance.. Ricky......Mischa..?
....Jane?
Jane.
Where was Jane? She wasn't there. Ocean began to panic again, worse than before. Where was the girl she felt oh so drawn to? Did she not make it out? Did Oceans grip on her hand slip? But, that was impossible.. Ocean was holding on so tightly as if Janes hand was the last thing she would ever hold.
Ocean began to sputter out as the approaching sirens of an ambulance got louder and louder.
"W-wheres Jane.." sputtering out every word with a bit of blood flying off her lips as she said it.
"Janes missing.. Where is she.." Ocean said again. She heard a low groan come from Constance, who was still lying face down, the pain hitting Constance worse than it hit Ocean.
"Please... Someone.. Where is Jane, she's not here!" Ocean began to scream, the panic feeling turned into anger as Ocean started to shout more and more for the doll.
"Jane! Please! Somebody find Jane!"
"She's missing! She's not here! Where is Jane!" Ocean screamed, screamed into what felt like nothing. Tears of anger and pain escapes her eyes and rushed down her face as she continues shouting. She wanted Jane. Jane made her feel safe, she wanted that feeling to come back, she NEEDED Jane.
The sirens became so unbearably loud as footsteps rapidly approached, the ambulance arrived after what felt like ages. Ocean felt hands on her shoulders and was suddenly filt with a strong sense of fear, pain, and anger, as she began to scream more and more. Screaming out of pain and fear, and screaming for her lost friend that she couldn't find in the wreckage.
As Ocean began to scream, she felt her vision begin to blacken. She tried to hold on to the sight on her remaining friends as long as she could, fighting it with all her might, but she just couldn't. She wanted to close her eyes and let the darkness envelope her, the pain was too much. But she had to try to stay awake till Jane was found.
As Ocean screamed and the darkness encapsulated her, she slowly gave out. The pain being too much. She couldn't fight anymore.
Ocean gave way and fell into the darkness..

Chapter Text
Nothingness. That's all Ocean felt.
Pure, dark, comforting, nothingness. Ocean relished in it, taking it all in as it brought her comfort. After experiencing what she did all she needed was the comfort of darkness.
It didn't last long though, it never did.
Voices started permeating Oceans mind. Voices she recognized but she couldn't make out the words they were saying, it was all garbled nonsense to her. After a few minutes of trying to make out the words, the voices grew louder and suddenly a bright, blinding light, seeped into Oceans eyes, causing her to peel them open, or at least one of them. One of her eyes was being held shut.
The smell of medicine and beeping of strange machinery flooded Oceans senses. The brightness of the light further pronounced with how white every wall and floor of the room was.
She was in a hospital room.
Sitting up, this time with much less pain, Ocean tried to pinpoint where the voices were coming from. Her eyes were still adjusting to the suddenly intake of bright light but she could begin to make out the conversation being held next to her.
"What do you MEAN there was only 5 of us?"
"I don't know! Do you see Jane in here at all, smart guy?"
Ocean found the source to be none other than Mischa and Noel, bickering like some old couple. They laid resting on their own hospital beds with Constance and Ricky listening in.
Noel's leg was hung up in a cast while Mischa was wrapped tightly in bandages all over his torso. Everyone had their own injuries but they all shared the fact they have random bandages covering over deep gashes that would surely scar.
And as if on cue, Noel turns and locks eyes with the ginger.
"Oh uh.. good morning, Ocean." He says while clearing his throat.
Ocean attempts to speak, but realizes how much more difficult it is now after only a slight rasp comes out. Noel notices and raises his hand as if to stop her.
"As much as we all know you love to talk, Keep it to yourself."
Ocean felt angered by it and tried to say something to rebuke his words but is interrupted once again by the young man
"I mean like, you hurt your throat. Lost your voice you know, it'll probably feel better later but you were screaming so loudly that the doctor said you partially damaged your throat."
Ocean was taken aback. She was screaming? She doesn't remember much from when they first woke up after the accident, all she remembers is seeing her shattered leg, feeling rocks in her elbows and.. Jane..
Ocean opened her mouth to speak again
"Where's.. Jane." she said in short bursts, it all came out as a small, hoarse whisper.
"Ah.. Well, we were just discussing that. We didn't know if you wanted to hear it right now.." Noel replies, scratching the back of his head.
"What?" Ocean says, her voice quaking.
The ginger looks around the room trying to see any sign of the freakishly tall girl. But there was nothing. There were only 5 beds in the room to..
Noel noticed the rising panic in the short girl. As much as he despised her guts, he felt a warmth towards her now. I guess being in a freakish accident where you all died but SUDDENLY come back really forces you to bond with people.
"We don't know where Jane is.. the doctor said there was only the 5 of us." Noel says "We know Janes out there though, somewhere." He adds on, attempting to sooth the increasing panic in his friends mind.
it doesn't work though, as Oceans eyes keep darting between everyone in the room, noting everything new with them. Constances arm wrapped in a purple cast, Ricky with his missing leg wrapped tightly with bandages, Noel with his leg propped up and held in place, Mischa with his torso wrapped snug in bandages and covered in smaller bandages along his arm and face.
"Jane did make it out, right?" A small, quiet voice interrupted Oceans racing mind. it was Constance. Ocean turned to lock eyes with her best friend before sputtering out.
"I dragged her out with me, she definitely made it.."
Ocean said between deep breaths.
"You're 100- no- 200% sure?" another voice added, this time it was Mischa. "As much as they creeped me the fuck out, I hope doll girl made it out as well.." he added on, his voice softening at the addition of the second sentence.
"I remember grabbing her hand and running. I was holding on to tightly there's no way I would've accidentally let go.." Ocean replied to the both.
"How do you know?" Mischa said.
Those words, the thought of accidentally letting go and leaving Jane behind filt Oceans mind. Did she? Did she accidentally let go of Janes hand and leave her there, scared and alone in the crumbling warehouse?
"Mischa, please. Ocean obviously isn't feeling well can we please discuss it later." Noel said, his voice raising.
"Well SORRY that I'm curious! What if Little Ginger over there did let go of Janes hand!"
"Mischa! Why are you assuming that! We both know how Ocean felt! There's no way in HELL that she would leave Jane behind!"
As the two began to argue again, Oceans mind raced. She thought about Jane and how she potentially left Jane behind in the warehouse. The thoughts of leaving her scared and alone flooded into her eyes, filling them with tears.
As Ocean thought about it, the voices all blurred into one loud mess. The lights were to bright for Oceans sensitive eye, her bandages felt to tight, she felt like she couldn't breath. Her breath quickened, Ocean couldn't do anything to stop it. She felt like she couldn't breathe.
The room began to swirl and everything was deafening loud, the lights were flooding her brain and making it hard to think. Everything hurt and Ocean couldn't do anything about it, she was trapped.
She couldn't breathe, she couldn't think, she couldn't hear but could hear everything at the same time. The voices surrounding her began to call out her name but Ocean didn't want to hear it, she covered her ears. Ocean couldn't do anything and she felt helpless, she was scared.
The gingers hands reached her ears and tried to cover them but it didn't help at all. Everything was still to loud. Her breathing only came in short bursts and left as fast as they came, she wasn't getting enough air, she couldn't.
The voices and noise all became louder and louder until Ocean felt two hands rest on top of hers on the sides of her head. She opened her tear stained eye and saw none other than Noel Gruber, sitting in front of her.
Noel somehow got out of his bed just to come over and comfort Ocean, even with his broken leg. He kept his hands over Oceans ears for what felt like eternity. Ocean took the time to slowly calm her breathing and realize that yes, she can in fact breathe in her bandages. Noel watched Ocean carefully until she gave him a Okay sign. As he slowly removed his hands he said quietly
"You were having a breakdown, Ocean."
"I know, I was the one experiencing it." Ocean replied, a small smile creeping though.
Noel chuckled slightly, relieved she was okay.
"You know, I'm pretty certain Janes okay. We just need to give it time because we obviously can't do anything from in here." he said, motioning towards his broken leg.
"She has to be, I was holding her hand so tightly i think I broke one of her fingers..." Ocean replied, following Noel's motion towards his leg with her eyes.
Noel sighs and grumbles something under his breath while looking down. Ocean couldn't hear it.
"Yea probably.." he said raising an eyebrow towards Ocean.
Oh god, he definitely knows somethings up.. Ocean realized.
"I need to like, get back over to my bed. I'm literally not suppose to be moving at all sooo..." Noel grumbles as he struggles to get back up. Ocean watches closely just to make he can actually make it and after he does plop back down into his bed Ocean suddenly realizes, she hasn't looked at her own injuries yet..
Ocean lifts her blanket and begins scanning her body, tons of bandages lining every inch of her left side. She must of had the skin ripped off when she was thrown out of the cart. trailing up from her torso she looked at her arms, her right one was tightly wrapped in bandages at the elbow but her left one was completely wrapped from her wrist up to her shoulder.
Ocean lifted her hand up to her face to find the left side covered in bandages with her eye being covered by a thick, puffy, cloth. That's why she couldn't see out that eye..
Oceans eyes flutter down to her leg, as last time she remembers it was shattered like glass. She lifts her blanket more and sees it wrapped tightly in a cast, it looks more like 3 casts actually, Ocean wonders how that's even possible.
After inspecting all her own injuries, Ocean looks over all her choirmates. She notes down mentally where every scratch and bruise they have is.
After awhile of marking every injury of herself and her friends, a doctor with a few nurses walk in and begin to tend to each kid. The doctor, a balding middle aged man who Ocean has seen a few times at the Blackwood Cafe, is speaking but Oceans to focused on the nurse tending to her. The nurse is asking Ocean questions that Ocean is somehow able to awnser even with her lost voice. The doctor keeps talking and talking and it eventually begins to irritate Ocean.
After what felt like forever of the nurses tending to all the kids. The doctor speaks with the full attention of the choir.
"Remarkably, you are all healing very quickly! None of your injuries were TO server-" He says while glancing at Ricky "-BUT, Some of you will need some extra help. Otherwise all of you should be out of here within the next month." He says, finishing some notes on his clipboard.
The doctor walks over to fill the space between Noel and Oceans beds, he glanced between them before starting.
"You two suffered some serious leg injuries, especially you, Ocean." he says looking at the gingers leg. "My bad news is that you two will most likely need to use a handicap for the rest of your life."
Ocean and Noel look at each other, Ocean feeling slight fear while Noel shows an emotion she can't quite read. Noel looks back up at the doctor with a more neutral expression.
"Could you doctors be any more specific Jesus. Do you mean like we have to use a crutch or something." He says, obviously annoyed at how vague the doctor is being.
"Exactly that, Noel. You two will need to use something along the lines of a crutch, cane, or wheelchair. Your legs were damaged so severely we don't think they will heal right showing how badly broken they were." The doctor says, trying to smooth his nonexistent hair.
"Okay that's.. not as bad as I thought, to be honest." Noel sighed while turning back to Ocean. The doctor left to go tend to the other kids.
"So, we come back after singing for our life's, and now we have to use canes, huh.." Ocean mumbles out.
"Yea, at least we didn't lose a le- nevermind." Noel says, stopping himself as he looks towards Ricky. Ocean snickers at the comment before settling back down into her bed.
"Looks like we're cane buddies now." She says quietly, so quietly that Noel almost doesn't hear her.
"Cane Buddies with THE most successful girl in town huh. That's interesting." He replies, a strange warmth emitting from his words.
Ocean chuckles before continuing, "I really wish I got to know you guys more, I was such a bad person.." She says, her voice breaking a bit towards the end.
"Hey, you got all the time in the world now, showing how we all came back. I mean we're quite literally all trapped in the same hospital room together right now." Noel says, with a sarcastically but friendly tone to his voice.
Ocean feels safe again, she feels happy and content knowing she wasn't going to let this second chance go to waste. Jane may not be there with them but that won't stop Ocean.
She was going to have a good time.

Chapter Text
Over the next few weeks, the choir began to be discharged from the hospital. First it was Constance as her most major injury was just a broken arm with some deep gashes, nothing too serious. Then it was Mischa, who was impaled by the handrail but was lucky enough that it didn't pierce any organs.
Surprisingly, Ricky got discharged before Noel and Ocean. His only major injury being his missing leg, which healed up quickly with the help of the doctors.
Noel and Ocean were left, showing how they both broke their leg completely. They both assumed Noel was being kept there longer than needed just so they can get him and Ocean a cane at the same time so the two didn't take up more time than needed.
Ocean needed more care than the young boy and her left leg was shattered and the left side of her body being completely torn up from friction and her parents refusing to get skin graphs due to not fitting their hippie lifestyle.
She had two surgery's to attempt to fix her leg but it didn't really help the fact her leg was useless now.
After a few more surgeries and days of just the two teenagers in the room, the doctor entered the room for hopefully the last time, as Noel despised the way the man talked.
"Well, we think it's time to let you two go."
Ocean and Noel shared a glance before looking back up at the doctor.
"We're finally free to leave?" Ocean said, she was anxious, ready to leave. Being cooped up in the bright room didn't help her as the lights bothered her so much she had to beg a nurse to turn them off.
"Yea. We just need to do one more checkup to make sure you're both fully ready to head home. Noel, your mother has been contacted and Ocean." He said locking eyes with the ginger girl, "The Blackwood's offered to pick you up as your parents currently aren't home."
Ocean gave a small sigh of relief. Her parents were never home. They were always off on some trip, literally and figuratively. And Ocean didn't have the mental capacity to handle them right now.
As Ocean was lost in thought, thinking about her parents, a man's voice dragged her out of her thoughts..
"Didn't you say something about us needing crutches or canes?" Noel spoke up.
The doctor looked at him, then suddenly his eyes lit up "Oh! Yes!" He said turning to grab something.
"The Potts brought these as donations for you two, they heard you two would be needing them."
As the doctor turned back around he was holding a pair of crutches in one arm and two canes in the other.
"You'll both start out with crutches, try them out for a few weeks. Let your leg heal more. Once you feel more confident and feel no pain on your leg when you apply pressure, try out the cane." He said placing a pair of crutches at the end of the kids beds.
"If you still feel pain within a few months, contact us again and we'll set up another appointment."
After the check up and removal of some bandages, Ocean and Noel got to try out their new crutches.
Noel caught on quickly to the use of his but Ocean struggled a bit more, she always lacked balance.
Around 30 minutes later, the two kids were still getting the hang of the crutches.
"It's like using a swing almost." Noel said, attempting to help the short girl get use to the use of her new crutches.
"Yea Yea. You're not the one whose leg got folded!" Ocean rebuked, getting slightly irritated at her inability to use the crutches as fast as her friend.
"Actually, my leg DID get folded! Thank you very much!" Noel responded with a lighthearted tone.
Ocean was struggling even more due to her left eye still being covered, she was told there was a large gash going over it. She was hoping the bandage would be removed already, she needed to ask the doctor about that..
Learning how to walk with crutches was not easy for her. It took her around 30 minutes to get use to them while it took Noel only 10.
"Looks like I am better than something at you." the taller boy said, walking around Ocean on his crutches.
"To be fair, I can't even see out of one of my eyes right now, so, give me a break, Noel." Ocean spat out.
"Yea you're right.. I wonder if they'll take the bandages off before we leave. It feels weird that they would leave them on." Noel replies, moving to sit back down on his bed.
"Same, I want to ask that doctor if they'll take it off because it's irritating me SO BAD" Ocean mumbles as she slowly gets the hang of moving on the crutches.
After a few more minutes of the two moving around their crutches, the doctor renters. Holding his clipboard he watched the two kids scramble back to their beds before clearing his throat.
"So we got it all sorted out, you two are going to be leaving. There's one more thing that just needs to be done."
Walking over to Oceans bed he stares at her left eye, or where it would be.
"We're going to remove these, just to see how it looks." He said.
Ocean tensed up, she was relieved so she didn't know why the thought of the doctors hands being near the left side of her face brought her so much worry.
"If it looks healed up enough, it should be fine to let you leave without the bandages, just some medicine to help ease the pain and fight off infection." he added, finishing with a slight cough.
Ocean sat perfectly still, watching closely as the man's hand reached up to slowly peel the bandage over her eye. Ocean never realized how the bandages completely covered the left side of her cheek and genuinely thought it was only her eye.
As the doctor peeled, Ocean shut her eyes tight as the sensation of the bandage peeling off of her scarred skin was unbearable. It felt like sandpaper almost.
It felt like eternity until Ocean realized the peeling sensation was gone and the doctor took a step back, as if to give the young girl space.
Ocean opened her eyes, or at least she thought she did. It looked like she was still squinting her left eye, but no matter how much she tried to open it, it stayed blurry.
Noel was watching her closely and noticed her confusion.
"Can you see out of it?" He asked.
"It's like, super blurry.. It looks like i'm squinting." She replies.
The doctor spoke up, causing Ocean to quit attempting to open her eye more.
"Yea uh- When you were thrown out of the cart you attempted to cover your face but the force of it caused your face to be dragged along the ground at a fast speed. Landed on a sharp rock which partially cut your eye. May cause some vision lost."
Ocean narrowed her eyes "may cause vision lost? You're very smart, you know that?" she said sarcastically.
Noel giggled to her side as Ocean went to rub her eye, she regret that shortly after as she was met with a searing pain suddenly rocketing through her head, the scar still slightly raw. Ocean put her hand back on her face after the pain faded. She dragged her fingers along her cheek, feeling the new, rough skin, that covered her cheek and a partial bit of her nose. it even went over her lip slightly. The skin felt both rough and soft at the same time. She dragged her scarred fingers down slowly from her cheek to trace the outline of her jawline, it was also scarred with new skin.
Following her jawline down to her neck, the left side was also somehow scarred, which was weird because how did she even drag her neck along the ground?
It was strange, for sure, feeling new, rough, skin where it shouldn't be, but Ocean knew it wouldn't bother her much, as she didn't even realize the entire left side of her face was torn up in the first place.
After a few more minutes of inspecting her new scars, such as her arms and elbows and even her hands, Ocean let out a deep, long sigh. She was exhausted, she slept so much while in the hospital but it felt like she never rested once, she couldn't.
Ocean just wanted to be home.
The doctor sighed as well, and turned towards Noel.
"Well, your mother should arrive soon." He said then he turned to face Ocean. "The Blackwoods should be here soon as well. Both of you have a change of clothes at the ends of your beds, close the curtains and go ahead and change into them." he finished with another sigh and turned to leave.
Waiting for the door to shut, Noel got up first, he shared a look with Ocean before closing the curtain that surrounded his bed and beginning to change. Ocean followed suit, closing her curtain and grabbing her new clothes.
It was just silence between the two kids until Noel broke it.
"What're you going to do when you get home?" he asked, sounding as if he expected a certain awnser
Ocean was quiet, thinking about the question.
"Ocean?" Noel asked again.
"Hm.. probably just going to go to bed." She finally responded
"Huh, okay.." Noel mumbled.
Ocean raised a eyebrow, even if Noel couldn't see it. "What do you mean by that?"
"I don't know, you've just seemed...sadder... The last few days." the tall boy said, pausing as he was thinking of that to say. "I'm assuming it has something to do with Jane, yes?"
Ocean froze, she tried not to think about Jane much while at the hospital, she didn't want to risk another meltdown at all.
"I.. tried not think about her much."
"There isn't even much to think about her in general, Ocean."
"But I know there is! There was something about her!" the ginger said, voice raising slightly.
"I noticed it to. There was obviously something between you two."
"See! Even you noticed it! There's something more there.. I just..." Ocean began to stammer "I.. I just need.. to see her again.."
"Calm down, I believe you, you need to calm down okay? We're gonna find her someday, we just like, literally can't right now." Noel replied, slightly tapping his crutches on the ground as a example.
Ocean used the moment to calm down, breathing in and out slowly, taking the time to consider what Noel said. He was right, they couldn't do anything about that right now and all she needed to worry about was getting home.
Almost as on cue, the doctor open the door and the Blackwood's and Noel's mother all rushed in. Ocean knew the Blackwoods, everyone did. they were the sweetest family in town. They cared for Ocean a lot when her parents were out of town and treated her as their own kids sometimes.
They enveloped her in a hug and Ocean melted into it, she hasn't felt the touch of anyone else in what felt like ages. Noel was dealing with his own mother, allowing her to fess over him and make him swear he's okay.
Ocean wishes she could stay in that hug forever, the warmth was something she needed. She never realized how cold she was until the two Blackwoods, Constance's mother and father, pulled away.
"You ready to go home, sweetie?"
Ocean stared at them for a second before her mind comprehended what they asked.
"Oh, yes. I'm ready, i'm exHAUSTED." She said, dramatizing the 'hausted' part at the end. feeling the tiredness in her eyes slowly form, Ocean grabbed her crutches and began to stand up on them.
After struggling to balance for a second, Ocean began to waddle away from her bed until a hand quickly grabbed hers. Ocean whipped her head around to see who's hand grabbed hers, It was Noel's.
Noel locked eyes with Ocean as he cleared his throat. "Ocean, uh-" he started before looking towards the floor "Please text me when you get home.." he mumbled out.
Oceans jaw dropped slightly, before quickly closing it. "You got it, emo queer." Ocean chuckled, slightly squeezing Noel's hand.
Noel looked up, a shocked look spreading across his face before a smile overtook it "Oh look who's talking! I know what you are!" He responded, laughing at the same time.
Ocean dropped Noel's hand and began to leave with the Blackwoods, stopping to give one more wave to Noel and his mother before exiting the room.
The Blackwoods helped Ocean walk out to their family van, putting her up in the front seat while Mrs. Blackwood moved to the backseat. Mr. Blackwood moved to the drivers seat to and glanced at Ocean before starting the car and setting it to drive.
No words were spoken and Ocean assumed it was because her appearance just reeked of exhaustion, and she was glad they didn't ask her anything. She just rested her head against the window and watched the lights go by her window.
After the long, calming car ride, Ocean realized they were pulling up to her empty house. A wave of relief flooding into the girls body knowing that after a month or two, she was finally home. Pulling into the empty driveway, Mr. Blackwood turned towards Ocean as he set the car into park
"You sure you want to be home alone right now, honey?" He asked, his voice low and soothing.
Ocean slowly turned towards him "I'll be fine, thank you for picking me up" She said quietly.
"Ok but, if you ever need anything, don't be afraid to call us. Your phone is on your table." He finished before unlocking the car doors so Ocean and Mrs. Blackwood could get out.
Ocean only let out a low mumble as a response, she just wanted to get inside. Mrs. Blackwood helped Ocean get her stuff and unlock her door to get inside. After one more tight hug, the Blackwoods left, the sounds of their van slowly getting quieter as the distance between them and Oceans house increased.
Ocean waddled into the kitchen where hee phone sat charging, somehow the Blackwoods got ahold of it and left it in her house for her. She picked it up and inspected it, it had a few cracks but somehow wasn't as damaged as she expected.
Ocean turned it on and quickly swiped through all her notifications of people wishing her well and hoping she gets well soon. After a few minutes of just swiping and reading, Ocean finally reached the end where she finally opened her messaging app. She had to do what Noel asked or she knew she would never hear the end of it.
OceanOCR: Made it home, to exhausted to text, i'll message you in the morning 11:34 P.M.
NoelGruber<3: Thank god you actually texted me. Go to sleep, I'll call you in the morning, darling. <3 11:35 P.M.
Ocean read the text before plopping her phone in her pocket and grabbing her crutches to head to her room.
Her room was on the second floor, which definitely irritated her a bit with how she had to climb the stairs with her crutches. After a short bit of struggling, Ocean found a good way to maneuver safely up the stairs and made it up after a few minutes. Situating herself to make sure she won't fall, Ocean made clear shot for her room. Swinging on her crutches she pushed open her door into her room, the comforting and familiar aura of it filled her senses and suddenly Ocean felt very heavy.
She was tired, and she was happy to be home. Sitting down on her bed and balancing her crutches on her nightstand, Ocean plugged her phone into her bedside charger and rested her head against her pillow and almost instantly fell asleep.
BAM
BAM
BAM
Ocean whipped her head up.
Fear filt her body hearing the bang at her front door. She grabbed her phone and checked the time, 2:57 A.M...? Who would be at her house at almost 3 in the morning..?
Hearing another bam, Ocean grabbed her crutches and quickly scrambled up, slapping her lights on at the as she left the room. Moving as fast as she can without risking her falling, Ocean made her way down the stairs before freezing...
Who WOULD be at her house so late?
The concern and fear began bubbling in her gut, no matter how hard she tried to think of who it could be, no one came to mind..
Ocean started inching backwards, planning to head back up to her room to ignore who was at the door, but another bam caused her to tense up. A few more bams ran out until Ocean came to a conclusion at what she would do.
Inching towards the door, trying to make as little noise as possible, Ocean shuffled quietly on her crutches. As she got closer, she began to raise one of her crutches over her head. She was prepared to swing it.
Unlocking the door, Ocean quickly hobbled backwards, the crutch still raised over her head. She would let whoever was on the other end open it.
Hearing a slight click of the doorknob being turned, Ocean tensed up even more. Fear beginning to overtake her body as she struggled to fight it off.
The door began to open slowly, Ocean was frozen, the fear overtaking her. Anyone could be at the door and that thought terrified her.
As the door began to open more and more, Oceans body began to loose some tension. Something felt off about whoever was opening the door, a familiar feeling almost.
The door finished opened and Oceans eyes adjusted to the darkness outside.
Whoever was at the door was tall, freakishly so. Ocean could bearly see their face as it was shrouded in darkness. All of the tension in Oceans body faded, she began to feel weak. She lowered the crutch as tears began pricking at her eyes.
She knew who it was.
It was Jane doe.

Chapter Text
There she was, Jane Doe.
THE Jane Doe.
The exact same Jane Doe they all thought was missing. Standing right at Oceans doorstep, at the ass crack of dawn. Ocean looked up to stare at her, bewildered.
Ocean must have been staring for awhile as Jane suddenly opened her mouth to speak.
"May I come in?" She asked, her typical sing songy voice echoing through Oceans skull, realizing she was staring.
"Y-Yes.." She mumbled, stepping out of the way to allow the doll to enter her house, shutting the door behind her as she entered.
Ocean continued staring at the doll, no matter much she didn't want to.
"Where.. have you been..?" She questioned, noting the cracks that appeared on Janes porcelain face.
Janes right eye was closed slightly, a large crack missing going over it. Ocean wonders if Jane can see out of it, sorta like her own own eye.
She appeared to have similar cracks over her arms, even thought her arms were actual skin. Ocean just inspected the doll, she took note of how much more rugged she look, dirt staining her shoes and bottom of her skirt.
"Did... you walk here?" Ocean asked, her eyes slowly trailing up Jane, noticing the small tears in her clothes and random dirt stains.
Jane turned to face Ocean, her body moving unnaturally, as it looked like it was still getting use to existing.
"Yes, I did." they said bluntly, tilting their head slightly.
"Where even WERE you? We all thought you got left behind.." Ocean said, feeling slight anger raise in her voice before dropping it. "I'm just glad you're back, Jane" she finished, sighing as she rubbed her temple.
Jane watched Ocean, her black eyes blinking unevenly. Ocean had to clue what to, Jane just suddenly appeared back in her house after they all thought she was gone forever.
Ocean came to conclusion she should probably call Noel about it, she would wait to tell the rest of the choir, as they were all probably asleep.
"I... I need to go grab my phone.."
Ocean started, quickly turning on her heel to go grab her phone as she left it in her room.
It felt weird, Jane was suddenly back and Ocean had a sense of... comfort?... relief? Not dwelling on the thought to much, Ocean began heading up to her room to quickly call Noel, struggling on the stairs slightly.
Getting up there and plopping down on the bed, Ocean opened her contacts and found Noel's number, she would call and if he didn't pick up, leave a message. She left Jane downstairs and was somewhat nervous about leaving her there.
Holding the phone up to her ear as it rang, Ocean waited, It was definitely late, being around 3 AM, so Ocean didn't really expect the boy to pick up till suddenly she heard a groggy "Hello..?" on the other end.
Jumping up, Ocean suddenly froze, how was she gonna explain that Jane just appeared at her door and was standing in her kitchen..?
"Uhh-" She started before being cut off.
"Girl it is.... like 3 in the morning. You better have a good reason for calling me!" Noel started, slight irritation in her voice.
"I- I do! I swear! I just wanted to tell you that-"
"I was sleeping so peacefully too. Ugh, cant have SHIT in Uranium! I couldn't even have death!" Noel interrupted once more, Ocean was getting annoyed.
"Noel- let me speak-"
"Always the gingers. Calling people at 3 in the morning-"
"NOEL!" Ocean shouted, trying to get the boy to stop interrupting her. "JANE. IS. IN. MY. KITCHEN." she shouted into the phone.
Hearing a slightly pause, Ocean waited for a response.
"What?" Noel started, the confusion obvious on his voice.
"I was sleeping, of course, till I heard banging on my door and when I opened it, Jane was just.. standing there.." She began, sighing as paused, still tired from her sudden awakening. "I let her in of course, I just had to come get my phone to tell you.."
"Why did they come to your house..?" Noel asked, his curiosity was piqued. He was somehow able to sense something between the girls, sending they were somewhat drawn to each other.
"I.. I dunno, Noel. But she's here and she has like.. cracks..? She's covered in small cracks."
"Cracks? I mean.. I guess it makes sense, pretty sure her heads porcelain, but it's just so strange.." Noel asked, yawning.
"I don't know.. it's all strange. We literally came back to life." Ocesn said, laughing at her own joke. "I'm probably gonna tell the others in the morning, I just wanted to tell you right now- Uh- let me go.. let me go check on Jane.."
Taking that as a goodbye, Noel bid Ocean farewell good luck as he hung up. Returning to the kitchen, Ocean saw Jane was standing over the sink.
"What're.. what are you doing?" Ocean began, curiously approaching the tall girl.
"Washing my hands, they're quite filthy."
"Oookaayyy....." Ocean was confused. Jane was blunt, like insanely so, and her straight up awnsers confused Ocean. She hobbled towards Jane on her crutches, wanting to see what her hands were dirty with.
"How did you even... where were you?" She asked, seeing the dirt on Janes hands.
Jane was dirty in general, there were small tears in her skirt and she was caked in dirt and mud.
"I do not know, I apologize. I woke up and decided to walk here."
Pausing, Ocean looked up at Jane. How did she know where Ocean lived? Did she feel almost drawn to the gingers house? Why her?
Getting lost in thought, trying to remember anything about the taller girl, Ocean failed to notice Jane looking back at her.
"Is something wrong?" The doll asked, her eyebrow furrowing slightly before returning to its natural position.
"Oh-! No- i'm sorry I was just- I was just thinking, slightly confused is all.." Ocean responded snapping back to reality, she rubbed her temple again as she tried to think of why Jane was drawn to her house.
"It is okay. I am confused as well.." the doll admitted. "I feel.. strange.. as if there is more to me than I thought. I somehow returned to life as well." she continued
More to her than she thought..?
Ocean was shocked as she listened to Jane explain how she felt slightly. Her heart ached for some reason. Why did Ocean feel so much for the tall girl? There has to be more than they both know...
Jane was... strange.. to say the least. She returned to life but still was a Jane Doe, somehow. But yet she seemed more, emotional? In the warehouse, Jane was frozen most the time, not showing any emotion and yet here, in Oceans house, Ocean could sense the confusion radiating off the doll girl.
Ocean assumed Jane WAS confused, returning to life as a body with no soul, not knowing who she is or who she was. thinking about that, Ocean felt a pang in her heart, she wanted to hug Jane, to tell her it was alright, but she stopped herself.
Clearing her throat, Ocean tried to think of what to do.
"Well uh... are you tired.. do you even feel tired?" She asked "I could get you some clean clothes, they'll be small definitely but like, it's probably better than THAT." Ocean finished, motioning towards a large dirt stain on Janes torn dress.
Jane looked where Ocean was motioning before she looked back up, smiling slightly before her face went back to a neutral, unreadable expression.
"I would like that. And yes, I do feel tired." she responded
Ocean smiled slightly as she turned towards the stairs "Well uh- I have some clothes in my room if you want to sleep in my parents room.. they aren't home they won't be for awhile so it's fine-" She added on, assuring Jane it was fine.
She began walking towards the stairs, glancing back to make sure Jane was following her as she led the two up into Oceans room.
"So.. what kind of clothes do you prefer to sleep in?" Ocean asked as she began digging through her drawers, trying to find something that would fit the taller girl more comfortably.
"I prefer sweats, thank you" Jane responded.
The response causing Ocean to freeze slightly. Hearing Janes preference, it made Ocean think.. Could Jane remember stuff? Does she have any idea at all who she could have been? ..
Shaking the thought out of her head, Ocean focused on finding her largest pair of Sweats before grabbing a random oversized shirt. Leading Jane to her parents empty room, she gently handed the tall girl the clothes.
"Uh.. let me know if you need anything.. good night, Jane" Ocean said as she slowly left the room. Ocean wanted to stay for some reason, stay with Jane.
She shook the thought away, she was going to talk to Noel about this later, definitely.
Returning to her room, Ocean set her crutches back next to her dresser as she plopped down on the bed, exhausted from her late night interaction. Questions buzzed though her head as she thought about how she would explain this to the rest of the choir in the morning.
Letting the thoughts go away, Ocean drifted off to sleep. She would deal with that in the morning.

Chapter Text
Ocean woke up, she felt well rested after her strange dream that had Jane Doe in it as she got up and stretched, popping her back and scratching at the scar on her torso. She was going to be home alone today, so might as well just spend the day resting up.
She got up and grabbed her crutches, stretching out her good leg and taking her time to slowly stretch out her bad leg. Grabbing two socks to put on so her feet wouldn't be cold. She knew she would have to take it slow for awhile, even if she hated to take stuff slowly.
Ocean slowly made her way into the bathroom outside her bedroom, taking her sweet time brushing her teeth as her breath felt disgusting in her mouth, her eyes were still groggy and she couldn't see all to well into the mirror as she brushed, eventually finishing and spitting all the gunk into the sink. smiling into the mirror before realizing her vision was still blurry from a mix of her grogginess and of her damages left eye.
Splashing her face with cold water, Ocean looked back up after drying off to smile into her reflection again, only hesitating when she saw the scars that now coated the lower half of the left cheek on her face.
Ocean eventually did smile though, flashing her reflection one last glance as she hobbled out of the bathroom on her crutches, preparing to head downstairs for some breakfast. She had to go slow on the stairs, nearly slipping cause she wanted to try to go faster than she could but thankfully catching herself as she breathed a heavy sigh that was a mix of irritation and relief.
Making her way into the kitchen, Ocean opened her pantry and inspected the choices of cereal, deciding on some basic brand and grabbing a bowl as well. Ocean felt like she physically couldn't cook so she would just settle for some random box foods for awhile. Grabbing the milk out of the fridge as well as she poured her milk first then her cereal, like a freak.
Finally getting a spoon and making her way to the living room after eating a few bites with her bowl in hand, Ocean could swear she felt her heart drop, screaming with a mouthful of cereal which resulted in her choking slightly.
Jane Doe, the Ever Elusive Jane Doe, standing idly in her living room, dead silent, and staring at her with her big, black eyes.
Ocean began choking on her cereal out of fear and Jane looked at her with a look of...concern..? Ocean couldn't dwell on thought though as she violently hacked up a piece of cereal, a piece of it hitting Janes porcelain cheek as Ocean finally finished coughing up the cereal.
"W-What are you DOING?!" Ocean asked, a sore sound on her voice due to her choking as Jane wiped the cereal of her cheek with a small 'Ew.' noise before looking back at Ocean.
"I woke up before you. I didn't know what to do, I apologize." Jane said as she fidgeting with the hem of the shirt Ocean let her borrow the previous night. Ocean knew there was something up with her, she seemed more... alive..
"Nono it's- it's ok you just surprised me." Ocean said quickly, rubbing her temple before continuing. "Jane you- you can't just like... stand there.. you scared me because you're so quiet." She finished
Jane continued fidgeting with the shirt as she looked at the ground, Ocean raising a eyebrow at her as she watched Jane.
"Jane are you alrighty..?" She asked slowly. She watched Jane perk up slightly at being asked a question, opening her porcelain mouth to speak.
"Y-Yes, thank you for asking but I am fine, Rosenberg." She responding, stopping herself from messing with the shirt and resting her hands at her sides.
Ocean and Jane stood there for a second in awkward silence before Ocean cleared her throat as she set her bowl of cereal down. "Well uh... How'd you sleep..? You slept right?"
Jane paused before speaking, as if thinking of how to word her sentences. "I slept very good. I appreciate your hospitality." She said after squinting her eyes gently.
"That's nice, that's good to hear.." Ocean responded, she didn't want to push Jane on asking any questions of where she's been because something is clearly up with her, but Ocean couldn't resist. "So.. Can I ask where you've been?"
Jane looked into Oceans eyes deeply, she hasn't broken her contact once since they stared talking. "I was in a warehouse with Karnak." She said bluntly.
Oceans jaw dropped. Like? THE Karnak? The Karnak that they all sang songs of why they should go back to their lives to Karnak? Was he brought back as well? But there's no way- Did Oceans hesitation somehow completely break the rules and brought back Karnak as well somehow?
The thoughts raced through her mind as she stared, slack jawed, at Jane. Surprised she could just casually dropped that info bomb of Karnak being brought back as well. She eventually realized she was staring though, and cleared her through once more.
"Is- is 'Karnak' referring to him in a human sense... or just a run down machine?" She asked.
"Human. He looked like me."
"Looked like- Jane what?" Ocean responded, she was just- she was in utter shock. Her hesitation somehow brought back the one who had the power to bring them back in the first place. "Where is he now?" She said, speaking again.
"I don't know, yesterday I woke up and he was gone. So I came here." Jane said shrugging her shoulders. continuing to tower over Ocean and stare at her.
Ocean thought for a minute, deciding that the rest of the choir should know about Jane and, somehow Karnaks, return. She already called Noel about it but needed to call the others.
She grabbed by Jane by the hand, noting the strange warmth emitting off of it compared to her face (And how much Ocean liked holding her hand.) for a second before bringing Jane up to her room with her, only breaking hand contact for actually get UP the stairs on her crutches. She lead Jane up to her room and dropped her hand.
"Sit down on my bed, we gotta tell the others." Ocean said as she dug around for her phone, finding it on her nightstand charging. She scooped it up and dialed the first person she would call besides Noel, the first of many phone calls today.
After awhile and a long, LONG, discussion with every choir member, Ocean send a photo of her and Jane into the group chat the Choir had to further prove Jane was there and that she wasn't 'Batshit Crazy' like Mischa said.
She paused before deciding to send one last text.
OceanOCR: Can you guys come to my house today?" 12:05 P.M.

Chapter 7: PERSONAL UPDATE !!! (Not actual chapter)
Chapter Text
Hii !!
It's me Pennydoe, or Klaus if you know me personally, And I just wanted to give a quick perosnal update as a reason for the slow chapters.
I'm just struggling a bit mentally and with motivation right now, like over the last week I got like... below 15 hours of sleep total.. But I am getting better currently! Healing takes time and I was just in a very very dark spot of torment and loneliness. I may start going to a therapist again to continue discussing the possibility of me having depression or something else like adhd since my old therapist thinks there's a high like hood that I do, and I want the help I need if i do.
So just to recap, I am healing! I'm doing slightly better and I'm getting more sleep and i've even started drawing again; even if said drawings are only half sketches. I do have a chapter in the works, but it'll probably be a bit before I fully complete it.
I do apologize and Thank you so much if you understand, I am still posting on Tumblr (Pennydoe) but it is mostly just small random words or an extremely small doodle. Just remember that healing takes time and I am taking as much time as I need..
Thank you and once again, I apologize <<33
Chapter 8: Weird Ass Doll
Summary:
The choir finally comes over, and Ocean looks like a rabid dog. They all meet Jane again and all have a mixed reaction but know somethings up, Karnak is alive as well but nowhere to be seen...

Chapter Text
Ocean was pacing around her living room, her crutches did make it harder though, which annoyed her. Jane was sitting on the couch just watching Ocean pace, her pure black eyes following Ocean like a hawk.
"Ok so like.... Karnak is alive to, Correct?" Ocean asked, reconfirming it as if it hasn't been stated many times before.
"Yes. He was there as well when I woke up in the warehouse." Jane responded, she wasn't really good at helping the situation, it was a bit stressful.
"And like.. Human human..? Not some fortune telling machine..?"
"Human human."
"So you woke up with him in the warehouse. But it's only you at my house..?"
"Yes."
Ocean let out a long sigh as she rubbed her temple, pausing her pacing to think. They were waiting for the rest of the choir to arrive at her house.
"Jane, I'm gonna be for real, you need to be a bit more specific here. Like give me more details." She said with another sigh.
"I was in the warehouse with him and yesterday I woke up and he was gone. I decided to come here so I wasn't alone." Jane explained... very badly explained...
"Ok but then... How did you even know where I lived..?" Ocean asked, she was just getting more and more questions the longer she thought.
Like for one, why does Ocean feel drawn to Jane? 2, Why did Jane come to Oceans house of all people? Noel lives closer to the fair. And 3, What the hell was Ocean gonna do about this 6 ft doll girl who obviously can't be out roaming the streets.
"Ok wait- Just... just leave the questions for when the others get here." Ocean said after a few moments of silence. "We all have questions, a ton of them." She added on before she began pacing again.
After around 30 minutes of pacing and intense nail biting (Ocean had to get like.. 3 bandages..), Ocean perked up when she heard some knocking on the door. She scampered over to it but paused as she saw Jane begin to get up as well.
"Hold up, you're fine staying there. I'll bring the others in here, Jane." She said before continuing her little one woman stampede to the door, throwing it open and being greeted by the rest of the choir. Constance was a little shocked at how quickly Ocean opened the door, looking at her with a concerned face.
"You... You okay Ocean..?" She asked. Constance had the least injuries, lucky for her, only having a broken arm and some gashes here and there. But nothing serious.
Ocean was out of breath as she responded "Please- Please come in!" She said in a rushed and loud voice as she stepped out of the way, motioning for the choir to go to the living room.
As the rest of the choir slowly entered, Constance going first, then Noel, and then Ricky and Mischa, Mischa helping Ricky in his wheelchair, Ocean lead them all to the living room, motioning wildly with her hands as she balanced on her crutches into it.
The rest of the choir looked concern at her as they slowly looked in, all of their jaws dropping as they all saw the 6 foot doll that they all thought died in the living room
"Holy shit..." Mischa started, he was astonished as he slowly approached Jane, poking her arm before jumping back as if Jane would leap and attack him. "you were not lying..." He added before walking to the others, not taking his eyes off Jane once as he did as if he saw Jane as a threat.
"SEE?!?" Ocean yelled, startling everyone in the room "You guys all called me CRAZY! I was telling the truth!" She yelled, waving her arms wildly as she was obviously irritated.
"O-Ocean.. Calm down-" Constance said as she quickly rushed over to Ocean, making her stop waving her arms around and hold on to her crutches again incase she fell, "We're- We're sorry for doubting you it's just... How were we supposed to believe Jane came back to..?" Constance added.
"Yea like- wasn't her body unidentified or something? Why is she still Jane and not.... whoever she use to be..?" Noel asked, walking up and inspecting Janes face, seeing all the cracks in her porcelain face with a concerned glint in his eyes. Noel walked up and felt Janes face before feeling her hand, noticing the different in warmth with Janes porcelain face being cold and her very much human hands being warm. He felt the cracks as well which caused Jane to quickly grab his wrist, making Noel jump a bit before clearing his throat and playing it off as if he didn't just almost shit his pants from that. "sorry.." Jane and Noel said at the same time as Noel walked back to the others.
"You guys aren't going to BELIEVE what Jane told me to!" Ocean began, her hair wild and frizzy, she looked utterly insane.
Ricky was staring at Jane before slowly signing something. "We barely even believe Jane is back, Ocean."
Ocean glared at him which made Ricky pause and stop signing, Ocean clearing her throat before continuing. "Okokok... So, I was talking to Jane and guess what.." she began, pausing to see if anyone would say something but shrugging when the Choir just stared at her with deer in headlights type stares. "Karnak came back as well."
Silence filled the room, Ocean and Jane both watching the choirs reaction with much different expressions and vibes, Ocean looking as if she was about to blow up and Jane looking.. as emotionless as ever..
"Quit playing.." Mischa said after a few more seconds, Noel and Constance both agreeing as Ricky stared with confused and narrowed eyes, all of them clearly not believing what Ocean just said, AS she said they weren't gonna believe her. Ocean looked a bit offended and let out a huff, tapping one of her crutches on the ground in a annoyed way and rubbing the scar on her face, Jane was watching her closely and grabbed Oceans hand gently so she wouldn't hurt herself which caused Ocean to look at her utterly confused. "Please do not do that. You could irritate your scar." Jane said quietly as she closely moved Oceans hand away from her face.
Ocean felt her face heating up, Noel OF COURSE noticing it and snickering before letting out a small 'oomph' sound when Constance elbowed his side. Ocean played it off by clearing her throat and continuing, "Guys PLEASE! Jane literally- Jane explained what happened to them.." Ocean said desperately, looking between Jane and the rest of the choir.
"I was in a warehouse, woke up and saw Karnak with me, as a human human like Ocean asked me earlier. I woke up last night and he wasn't there so I came here." Jane explained... incredibly bluntly and vaguely.. Jane really was not a help in this situation..
The choir looked at Jane, all of them clearly confused wildly as they heard Janes incredibly short recounting of what happened. Constance thinking in silence before speaking up, "Jane why did you come here..? Isn't Noel's house closer to the fair if you woke up in that warehouse?" She asked, Noel's eyes widening as he realized as well and looked at Jane closely. Jane just shrugged casually as if it was normal and spoke again "I do not know, I just wanted to come to Oceans." She explained bluntly as she glanced at Ocean before looking back at Noel and Constance. "Doll girl! How- oh my god- How did you even know where Ocean lived?!" Mischa said loudly and quickly as he took a step closer to Jane, he was clearly getting frustrated, not understanding what was happening AT ALL..
Jane took a step back from Mischa, she started to almost panicked, Ocean realizing and suddenly grabbing Janes hand, she didn't know why she did it she just felt the need to hold Janes hand, which seemed to work she calmed down quickly before speaking. "I do not know.. I'm sorry, Mischa.." Jane said quietly, gently squeezing Oceans hand which definitely catch Ocean off guard but she didn't say anything, instead deciding to let the others speak and be quiet for the first time in who knows how long.
Noel sighed and rubbed his temple, Ricky has been pretty quiet, clearly confused and Constance has been staring at Ocean and Jane as if stunned. Mischa looked as if he was about to pop a whole vein in his forehead as he tried to comprehend what was happening. "Where's Karnak?" Ricky signed, clearly being smart and actually being more concerned about the whole FORTUNE TELLING MACHINE that came to life and not that Jane chose to go to Oceans house and not Noel's for some reason. Jane looked at Ricky and thought silently for a few minutes before speaking up quietly. "...I don't know.." She whispered, causing Mischa to groan in irritation and confusion, Constance putting a hand on his shoulder to calm him down.
Ocean could see the rising tension in the room and decided to finally speak, which would've definitely irritated Noel. "G-Guys ok let's.. let's calm down.. I'm pretty sure Jane knows just as much as you do here.." She mumbled, still holding Janes hand, she liked how warm her hand was despite her cold face. "I'm pretty sure she's just as confused as all of us are.. And that maybe we should give Jane a break.." She suggested, actually seeming to care about this situation. Jane nodded, showing she didn't know anything that was going on as well and was just as confused as the rest of the choir.
The rest of the choir agreed, all in their own ways with Constance giving a cheery "Okay!", Ricky giving a thumbs up, Mischa letting out an annoyed huff which Noel elbowed him for, and Noel holding up a okay sign and crossing his arms. Ocean sighed and sat on the couch, Jane following since Ocean was still holding her hand, Ocean rubbing her temple before speaking "I guess- I guess help yourself to something to eat..? My parents aren't home, of course, so I guess just eat whatever.." She mumbled, Mischa INSTANTLY taking off to the kitchen which caused Ocean to roll her eyes.
The rest of the choir slowly following after Mischa, Noel only going so he could sure Mischa didn't eat Oceans entire pantry. Jane and Ocean turned to each other, both waiting to see if the other had something to say before Ocean spoke. "This is.. not going to be fun.." She mumbled, Jane nodding in response and Ocean giving an irritated sigh and leaning back on the couch as she listened to the sounds of the choir in her kitchen. She couldn't help but smile hearing how lively her house was now, especially since she was usually home alone like 90% of the time, and she felt good holding Janes hand for some reason. She replayed the events of the last 2 days in her head; Jane suddenly turned up to her house, slept in her parents room, learned Karnak was alive, and now having to explain everything to the choir, and possibly having to go look for Karnak sooner or later. She was pretty irritated about it all but couldn't help but be excited.
Ocean was also concerned about Jane, she saw how anxious Jane looked, and knew that was weird especially for the doll girl. She was wondering if there was something going on deeper beneath the surface but decided to not speak on it and just give it some time, right now she had bigger stuff to worry about anyways, such as Mischa trying to eat a raw egg for some reason...
Notes:
hi guys !! I no longer want to kill myself (I'm okay I swear.) so I'm finally writing again!!
I'll probably update pretty slowly but I actually wrote this all in one go and still feel pretty good so i'll probably be able to start writing more! I've also been drawing a lot more recently again (Pennydoe on tumblr) so i'm getting back in the groove of everything!
Thank you for being patient.. It means a lot to me!
(P.S.. How would y'all feel if I made Ricky transfemme and go by Savannah..?)
Update: So I uploaded this chapter around 3 hours ago and uh.. my online son (one of kt best friends) is currently in the hospital and they may have cancer... I might take ANOTHER break from writing if they really do have cancer but they're getting tested right now to see if they do..
