    The Gryffindor common room shook with music.
    The drink in her hand bubbled and fizzed. She took a long gulp from it. It burned the back of her throat, sizzling and sparking the whole way down. Hermione felt lightheaded. She felt separated and disarticulate, like some mixture diverging into its base ingredients after a long stretch of disuse. Perhaps she was just a bottle of forgotten condiments on the shelf somewhere, slowly coming apart at the seams.
