Days when the data servers would go down were the worse, until Silver Wolf joined the Stellaron Hunters. Then finally, their technicals problems were all but an old memory ! Now, it was Silver Wolf's turn to suffer from the wrath of the DBMS.
She handled pretty well her job. When it came about the server, it mainly consisted on rebooting and correcting every, single, bugs. Which was much more tiring that fighting the Anti-Matter Legion... Depending the depth of the damages, it would take Silver Wolf an entire day at best and miss the daily awards on her (many) video games. She has been sitting and rotting among the wires since morning, and was far from being done. Paper notes and LED lights were bricking all over the tight, cold walls and cards of RAM surrounding her. The secluded space did not help her grandly. Her legs were trapped under a carpet of heavy cables and a "pins and needles" sensation was threatening to paralyze her lower body very soon.
Yet, the Data Base room is one of her favourite places. Since it was a very tiny space, not up to two people could fit in the room. A clautrophobic's worst nightmare. But this place held a heavy feeling of familiarity for Silver Wolf, if it's not the kind of feeling to bring happy memories.
But it get quickly pretty hot, even if the room was supposed to be at low temperature to not endure a fire incident. She wanted to reach for her can of soda standing next to an electric fan. She lifted it to brought the can to her lips, only to realized that it was empty. Silver Wolf grinned sarcastically, then put down the can back at it's spot. A growl of irritation was slowly rising between her teeth, until the door of the DATA room opened, letting a breeze of cold air and a blinding flash hitting her face.
" Argh !! Don't interfere when I'm..."
Silver Wolf hardly tried to keep her eyes half open, her hand poorly blocking the lights. She had to wait it to fade to recognized the silouhette facing her.
Blade, was standing still, surprinsgly wearing casual clothes, meaning that he was given a time-out free of duty for a while (usually he would wear his signature attire and even sleep in it). His tall figure standing there, in the DATA Room, was kind of ridiculously hilarious. Uncanny for him to be there, as he was the only one Hunter to poorly mingle with technology. Silver Wolf was about to ask him what he wanted until he handed her something.
" Saved you the last one " he said.
Silver Wolf reached for the object he was handing to her and gently grabbed it. At the touch, a shiver spread to her fingers. It was a can of soda. She examinated it closely. She recognized the logo of her favourite brand. Yes, this was it ! Just the sight of the graphic logo of the soda filled her with delight. With her thumb, she quickly twisted and pulled the ring to pop the opening.
" This couldn't be better ! Thank you Blade "
His appearance just right after she had the intention to get herself some, was too much of a great timing. For unknow reasons, it made her suspiciously think that Blade almost knew about her huge liking for the soda in question.
She rarely let people talk to her when she was working on tasks like solving an head aching bug, saying that it will only derange her "working genius". The true reason is that she need a lot of focus to be able to repair problems in a flash, so she could return as soon as possible on her personal activities... In general, it was much more of Kafka to burst in her working hours. That why it was supringsly for Blade here, to knock in.
Because Blade would be the last one to dare messing with Silver Wolf.
The latter hasn't moved from the door since. He peaked an eye outside, before looking back at Silver Wolf.
" You've been here all morning... Get yourself a break of five minutes "
" Nuh-huh. A five minutes break for me will turn to a two hours of doing anything but solving the bug. You know me "
Blade scratched his head.
" What do you want by the way ? " asked the gray haired girl.
" Nothing "
Silver wolf detached her eyes from her computer.
" Okay. Well while you're here, can you help me with something ? "
" What is it ? " he asked.
The grey haired girl noticed that something was slowing her down on her work plan. She needed another tool to finish faster. Silver Wolf joined her hands, gazing at him while pulling out her best puppy eyes.
" Could you go fetch my other laptop ? It's in my room, mauve with a lot of stickers on it. Please ? " she said, by prolonging the "please" a bit longer.
Without replying, Blade left the DATA room and Silver Wolf was all alone again in the silence and the rumbling of the machines again.
Ah, he left.
Silver Wolf thought she had annoyed him enough for today.
But a few minutes later, she heard some footsteps coming closer, and eventually, Blade showed up again by the door. Instead of being satisfiyed, she was struck by sheer horror.
" Why- Why are you holding my-my... My laptop LIKE THIS ??!! "
Blade raised an eyebrow, and held her laptop higher.
" Like what ? "
She pointed gravely her hands toward him, palm open.
" What ?! ... With... Just two fingers ?!! "
Indeed, Blade was holding Silver Wolf's laptop like it was a sock. It didn't seemed to be as heavy as thought, or else it would have easily slipped from his fingers.
The sight of this horror made Silver Wolf get up in a jump and grabbed gently, but in a rush, her laptop. Then she pulled it from his hands and held it tight to her chest. She sighed of relief.
She stared back at Blade. He had not a single reaction for what he has just done right now. Not a feeling of guilt was perceivable on his face.
" Fine, I'll take a break, but we gotta seriously supervise you on how you handle technology, my dude "
