The punches, slaps, shoving and kicks that Perry delivered that night were brutal, not only to Celeste but to the other three women too, that was until Bonnie fatally pushed him to his death.
Unbeknown to Celeste this crazy situation would be the worst and best thing to happen to her. The feeling of guilt was crazy, she always felt responsible for the happenings that night, it was her that made perry angry, it was her that perry was aiming for, she believed that if she hadn’t of decided to leave him that he would still be alive, and that Josh and Max would still have their father. Celeste knew that if she had stayed with Perry that he wouldn’t change but she wanted to believe it so badly, so much so that she put all the blame on herself.
The blame would become crippling for Celeste, so much so she would become sick. No matter how many times Perry would draw blood, punch, kick and threaten Celeste she would always stay, because she loved him, she loved the man she married, she loved the man that fathered her kids.
3 weeks before trivia night:
Three weeks before trivia night, Perry and Celeste had a disagreement which ultimately led to sex, Perry wanted another baby, Celeste was convinced that it would be too late and that she was too old, one thing led to another and they ended up making love that night, it was the softest they had made love in a long time, usually they are angry and it reflects in the sex that they have with each other, it’s always rough and hard. He usually thrusts himself in and out at a fast pace ensuring that he fills her completely, however this time was different, it was like they had both composed themselves, they would go slow, he would always be on top, he teased at first but made sure to satisfy her needs by filling her completely with his manhood before doing slow pumps in and out of her centre. They would both reach their climax, unbeknown to Celeste, Perry would get exactly what he wanted that night however he never lived long enough to know. She never suspected that she was pregnant, not for one minute and she would find out the hard way, just a week after trivia night.
Leading up to trivia night:
The weeks leading up to trivia night were like the rest, there would be arguments, abuse but none that resulted in Perry going anywhere near Celeste’s abdomen, it’s like he knew not to touch that area just in case. Neither of them really believed that Celeste would get pregnant on the first try, as they had to try every method in order to get the twins. It really surprised Celeste that Perry would want to go through all that again as he saw how much the four previous miscarriages had effected Celeste and her health. She’d never told anyone about the four babies that she had lost before the twins, not even Madeline. It was private, Madeline knew so much about her life but also so little at the same time, those four babies that she lost were hers and she wanted to mourn them privately without anyone else knowing.
There was one incident that pushed Celeste into leaving Perry for good, they were having an altercation which was started by Perry, he grabbed Celeste by the hair so she retaliated by grabbing a tennis racket and hitting him. After getting home from the hospital, Perry said something that she had never heard him say before. “Your lucky I didn’t kill you” That was it, enough was enough, he had just blatantly confessed that he would have killed her if he would have gotten the chance, she was now scared for her life, more so that the times before. This was 2 days before trivia night. The next day Celeste set out on finding an apartment so that she had a refuge to take herself and the boys when he did finally leave Perry. She spent the day viewing apartments until she found the right one, she stocked it full of essentials so that it would feel homely for the boys. She kept flashing back to that one night that they made love tentatively to each other, she wished that they could go back, back to that couple that they rarely was together. How everything had changed, she was now getting ready to move out. Celeste doesn’t know why she left it until trivia night make up her mind that she wasn’t going home with him, was it that she would be around people all night so if he tried to kill her people would see, she really didn’t know. Everything happened so fast, once he started coming towards her she knew someone wasn't going to make it out alive, she thought it would be her.
