The Parrotfish and his Seahorse

Summary:

Alejandro comes back to Rudy.

Notes:

Did I say that I want to take a few days off? Maybe. That didn't stop me from writing this one.

Work Text:

Rodolfo is dying of a broken heart. His love is gone for a few months. Alejandro just wants to catch some fish for Rudy but he never comes back.

Many of his herd say that's a miracle Rudy is still alive.

They all know humans have taken him. And they all know they can't do anything about it.

Rudy asks himself often why he is still alive, after many months without his mate, and without a pup of their own, he should be dead already.

Maybe his hope to see his Love again keeps him going. Or maybe his duties to his herd prevent him from dying.

But he feels his time coming. He is always weak and tired, every night he cries himself to sleep without Al by his side.

He knows that he will see his love again if he dies, he's looking forward to him.

Even all his hope is used up at some point, and that's now.

He lies upon the glowing coral reef he and Alejandro sealed their mating with the bits.

Rodolfo traces his bite with his hand.

He's once again crying. He is so tired of crying, he does nothing else anymore.

Why do the seas hate him so much?

Why did they take his love away from him?

Why?

What did he do to deserve that?

Rudy's eyes are closing. Exhausted but with a simile on his lips, finally after so many months without him he will finally see him again.

"Rudy!" Rudy wake up! I´m here love! Please wake up!”

He hears his voice! He can't wait to see him!

“Don´t die! Please! I can't live without you! Don't…don't go where I can't follow!”

But why is his love crying? He should be happy!

He feels his body being lifted.

“I´m sorry, I´m sorry Rudy. "I´m too late.” He breaks down crying, laying on his mate's chest.

Al should not cry. He should be happy he is going to see Rudy again.

But Rodolfo can't bear his love crying. So he needs to soothe his parrotfish.

“Why are you crying amor?” He asks with a weak voice. Putting his hand on the head of his mate.

Alejandro jumps looking with wet eyes down to Rudy.

“Rudy? You are alive?” Al´s voice is raw with emotions.

“No? I´m dead just like you. Finally, I can see you again. I missed you so much.” The tears run down the corners of his eyes and down into the grass below them.

“No Rudy, I'm not dead, and you also are not. I thought I got here too late. You were barely breathing and you didn't respond to me.” The parrotfish smiles, still tears in his eyes.

“Were both alive?” Rundy asks quietly.

Al nods.

“Sí. I´m sorry I was away so long, humans captured me and I was held captive. But another human helpt all of us. I won't go away again, I'm never going to leave you. "I´m sorry.”

Rundy purrs.

“It's okay, you're here now, that's all that matters.”

Both of them hug each other tightly. Never want to let go.

Small kisses here and there, till the sun goes down both of them cuddle on the hill.

Never letting go, never looking back.

Only ever love for each other, only ever planning the future with each other.

Now the parrotfish has his seahorse back, as it should be.
