Chapter Text
The peaceful village of the Metkayina clan, Awa'atlu, had been in uproar since early morning due to the unexpected guests. The Toruk Makto and his entire family had come to ask for the uturu.
The Metkayina observed them with curious eyes. The legendary warrior who had saved Pandora from his own kind looked different from what they had expected. In reality, he looked exhausted and desperate. The people whispered about the different features of his family. Some boys, including the son of the chief, even made fun of them.
The tsahìk looked reluctant to take them in at first, but with persuasive looks from her husband, she granted their stay. The Metkayina olo’eyktan, Tonowari, welcomed the newcomers and introduced them to his clan properly.
“Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us,” he declared. “Treat them as our brothers and sisters. They do not know the sea, so they will be like babies taking their first breath. Teach them our ways so they do not suffer the shame of being useless.”
“Our daughters,” Tonowari looked around for his daughters but could only find one. He paused for a moment before continuing. “…Tsireya, and my son, Aonung, will teach your children our ways.”
The Sully family, exhausted from their long flight, showed relief and gratitude for not being evicted from the Metkayina clan. “Thank you.”
“Come, I'll show you our village,” the chief’s daughter, Tsireya, joyfully led the way to their new home.
Tonowari glanced at his wife Ronal, and they both noticed the absence of their firstborn. The couple exchanged a knowing look, and they had a pretty good idea of where this rogue had gone. It was a place too far to hear the horn and a place that they had specifically ordered her never to approach, let alone get too close.
“I swear I will tie her up on the reef,” Ronal grumbled harshly to her husband. Tonowari answered with a sigh and a shrug.
“Seems like every family has a troublemaker,” Jake murmured to Neytiri. They saw Tonowari frown as he introduced his children. Neytiri let out a subdued laugh. Jake watched their family’s troublemaker, Lo’ak, following behind the olo’eyktan’s daughter, already giving him a headache.
