Chapter Text

Diego slipped into his brother's room, going towards his closet. His eyes squinted as he heard some woman's giggle as he finally entered with a woman who he could only assume would be his next meal or someone who would give him his next child. Shaking his head, the younger Brando grabbed some clothes as he stood there, just listening to the woman be killed. He made sure he waited for Dio to leave before he let out a silent sigh of relief as he waited a few more beats before he snuck back to his room.

Diego slipped into his brother's clothing and cloak before he approached his mirror, staring into it for a moment. He messed with his hair to make it appear more like how Dio has it styled. Slowly, he even put on some lipstick he'd seen his brother wear the other day; he was sure he looked like a mess. Green lipstick was not a good look on him, but he had to keep up the act.

"If everything works according to plan, I can meet Hot Pants in Greece." He murmured to himself.

The silence in his room bothered him, but he knew to remain silent if he wanted his plan to work. Before he knew what was happening, he moved back to his plush bed and crawled underneath to grab the shoebox in which he hid his correspondence with her. His eyes glanced at the papers as he walked to his desk to put them in a bag to bring them with him. If Dio only knew the whole plan, he knew he'd be high on his list along with the Joestars to kill. Diego was only doing this one nice thing for his 'nephews' to make sure they wouldn't end up like their father, nothing more and nothing less.

Diego's eyes glanced at the clock: 10:30 p.m. was what it was, which meant by the time he got to the room that had the four boys, Vanilla would step away for a bit to do God knows what. Leaving his room, he stuck to the shadows as much as he could to avoid any of Dio's followers before they assumed they were him. Diego's nose scrunched as he lost himself in thought as he weaved his way through the mansion: I still dislike humanity, but I do have some respect for the Joestars, and I know I saw the Joestar birthmarks on those children. I need to get them back to their proper family. It's ironic of me to betray my own blood, but I can't keep up the goodwill act with Dio. I'll be damned if I let my 'brother' get his wish of achieving heaven.

He found himself outside the door. Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door open to see the two beds of the older boys and the cribs of the other two. The eldest raised his head to look at Diego, his eyes boring a hole through his body. "Wake Donatello up, Haruno." Diego spoke in a tone similar to Dio's as he made his way over to the cribs.

"Dad?" Donatello asked, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

Silence. Diego didn't know what to say as he picked up Ungalo and Rikiel, as he covered them with a blanket to keep them warm.

"Come now; it'll be cool outside. Walk close to my cape so it can provide you warmth."

Haruno stared up at Diego; clearly, he started to realize that Diego really wasn't their father. But he gently moved Donatello towards the cape. The harder part of their escape was about to occur: getting past everyone still milling about and Pet Shop by the time they got outside.

As they moved through the mansion, he kept up his Dio act for his followers. A few were a bit surprised to see the children with him, and whispers began about how 'he finally decided to be a good father'. Diego held his breath as they arrived at the gate to go out, and there was the problem in the flesh: Pet Shop.
