Chapter Text

Mikasa looks out of her window sighing.

Eren found his soulmate and Sasha found hers even Ymir and Jean found their soulmates, everyone did, except for her and she doesn't even know how to find them.

For Eren it was easy, he had his soulmates name on his wrist, so when he met Armin and the name on his wrist glowed the same blue as his eyes, he knew. All Jean had to do was see Marco and the black streak in his hair turned brown again and the first time Ymir touched Historia she remembered all their lifetimes together.

So why does it seem that no matter what Mikasa tries or says or thinks she can't seem to find her soulmate. She's always been alone, she had Eren for a while until he found Armin before him she had her parents until they died but now it seems that no matter what she does she is alone for good. She checked her body for any marks that would indicate a soulmate. Tried every method in the book but it seems as if Mikasa is just damned to a life in solitude, she'll have to accept it sooner or later, has to deal with the pain and move on, she knows that but something in her can't seem to move on, so she stays stuck. Sees all her friends with their soulmates, the person destined for them and only them and goes home to her now solo dorm room because Sasha moved in with Niccolo and Ymir dropped out to travel the world with Historia and hides her loud anger and face distorted in pain in her pillow until she passes out from exhaustion.

In the morning she collects herself, drinks some tea, gets dressed and goes to her first lesson of the day.

An art lesson, which she usually uses to nod off for a bit, since she's already finished her project. As she enters she sees a person she hasn't seen before, hunched over a sculpture of Algea, with their hood pulled so far over their head that she can only see their nose. She takes her usual place next to the heater, which means right next to the mystery person and as she takes a seat she catches a glimpse of blonde hair and blue eyes checking who's taking taking the table next to them. They sit in silence as more and more students come in, until the person, the woman Mikasa notes, grabs into her bag and gets a bottle out, uncapping it and taking a sip just to shut it again frustrated. "You want some water?", Mikasa asks her surprising herself. "Yeah thanks", the other one answers dismissively her voice is rough and dry. Mikasa reaches into her bag, searching for the bottle and hands it to the other, her hand reaches out and as she grabs it Mikasa feels a sharp pain in her finger tips, not as strong as a shock but painful nonetheless and let's go of the bottle in surprise. The bottle falls to the ground with a loud metal sound and the other immediately scrambles to get it.

"Fuck sorry", she says in the same tone as earlier. "No worries", Mikasa grimaces still holding to her slightly aching hand. The girl takes a sip before putting the bottle on Mikasa's desk and coughs slightly, then much brighter than earlier: "I'm Annie" Annie, that name rings a bell, does she know another blonde Annie? She doesn't think so but still the name sounds so painfully familiar.

She reaches out for the bottle as if to test something but no pain, nothing just cold hard metal. "Mikasa" and so the two women return to their silence, which means Annie working on her statue and Mikasa watching her while trying to not seem like a creep.
