“I see him.”
In the dark, the two women exchange a series of looks. Natalie’s eyebrows ask, Is it him? To which Misty’s eyes respond, I think so. Natalie takes a deep breath. Misty mimics the gesture.
The man-shaped figure picks up speed.
“Should we run?” Misty asks.
“Yeah,” Natalie says. “We should.”
They don’t move.
Or: 2008. Natalie is twenty-seven, a budding musician and artist living alone in a hazy, dream-like New Orleans. Her life is calm and uneventful until one night, the day before a big storm, a familiar face in the crowd catches her eye during a performance.
The dreamy haze makes way for something much more troubling, and Natalie finds herself doing things she swore she'd never do again.
