Work Text:

Marinette couldn't help but giggle at the look of concentration on Kagami's face as she watched her Dad trying to teach her Girlfriend how to bake bread.

"No, not like that, you're too tense, you're not folding bedsheets, you have to knead the dough gently, like this, keep folding it over."

"My apologies Dupain-san. I will follow your instructions more precisely."

Her Dad chuckled. "It's okay Kagami, you're still new at this. And please, just call me Tom."

Kagami gave him a mischievous smile. "Yes, Tom-san."

Tom chuckled before continuing.

"Baking isn't about precision, or doing it right or wrong, have fun! Get a feel for the dough. Look at Marinette, she's not even looking at what she's doing, she's watching you but what she's feeling goes into the dough."

Marinette blushed as Kagami studied her hands intently. She was glad that after everything that had happened, they were now able to have a soft moment like this.

She felt another giggle bubble up as she noticed some flour had lightly dusted the tip of Kagami's nose, so she grabbed a cloth.

"Hold still." She said as she reached over with the cloth and wiped the flour off her girlfriend's nose.

"There, all better."

Kagami gave her a smirk and abandoned her dough to reach up to take Marinette's face in her flour covered hands.

She darted in and planted a kiss on Marinette's lips before withdrawing, and let out her own laugh. It was a lovely sound, and it came far more naturally now than it once had.

Marinette glanced at her reflection in a metal serving tray nearby and saw white handprints on her cheeks.

Narrowing her eyes and grinning, she grabbed a handful of flour from the worktop and chased Kagami, who nimbly dodged and weaved with all the experience of the fencer she was. The two girls giggled as they chased each other around the kitchen.

Marinette was happy. She knew once upon a time Kagami would have recoiled at getting a speck of flour on her clothes, or having such carefree fun for fear of Tomoe Tsurugi's retribution.

Now Kagami wore loose, comfortable clothes, not the school uniforms or formal wear she had once perpetually worn. Marinette could see the influence of living with the Couffaines in her new wardrobe, but also Kagami experimenting, finding herself and her own style.

It made Marinette happy, and she had more than a few outfits in mind she'd love to design for her Girlfriend when she was ready.

That said, she still favoured the short skirts and tights that did interesting things to Marinette.

Marinette wasn't complaining.

Kagami had come a long way.

They both had.

"All this bread and not enough cheese!" A voice whined from up on one of the shelves. The voice belonged, of course to Plagg, who sat with a giggling Tikki, who was watching their holders with amusement.

Ever since Marinette had gone public as Ladybug, there was no more need for secrecy, and the Kwamis were frequent fixtures in the Bakery. Tom always had a cheese roll ready for Plagg whenever Kagami visited, and indeed Plagg and Tikki were sharing one now.

Meanwhile Tom was standing awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head with one large hand.

"Girls, girls! This isn't how bread gets made!"

Sabine slipped her hands around his other arm, smiling warmly at her daughter and her daughter's girlfriend's antics.

"Oh shush Tom, let them have their fun. I seem to recall we used to make a lot of bread just like this."

Tom blushed a deep red, just like his daughter was wont to do, as the two of them watched their daughter, and the girl they had already started to think of as their daughter in law chase each other around the bakery, making bread… in a roundabout way.
