Chapter 1: Hi, Again.

Chapter Text

When Jiwoo received the email saying she had an interview at LOONA Fashion Company, she was ecstatic. Her hard work had paid off; the endless studying all throughout college and countless all-nighters spent to finish projects were a big part of Jiwoo’s life.

And now, she got where she wanted to be. Yerim knew this all too well, she had been hearing about “I want to get into LFC!” and “LFC would be the best place to work!” way too many times.

So what was she going to do but take her best friend to a club to celebrate?

As soon as Jiwoo entered the loud room, full of people, she knew she was going to have a good night. She could drink herself away, or maybe even find someone she found attractive to take home.

It ended up being the latter option, though, when she felt someone tap on her shoulder. Turning around, she laid eyes on one of the most beautiful girls she had ever seen. She was wearing a turquoise dress, her red hair floating around her. She reminded Jiwoo of a mermaid almost, and Jiwoo couldn’t help but feel attracted to her.

“Wow, you’re even cuter up close,” she whispered after what seemed like a long pause.

Jiwoo huffed, but smiled at the stunning girl.

“I get that a lot, but thank you. You’re pretty, too.” The girl laughed, and Jiwoo felt like she was put under a spell.

“Sooyoung. I’m Sooyoung, what’s your name?”

“Sooyoung’s such a pretty name. I’m Jiwoo.”

The two women continued talking, until Sooyoung leaned into Jiwoo’s ear, asking if she wanted to come home for the night. Jiwoo nodded hurriedly, paid for her drink, and followed Sooyoung to the taxi waiting.

As soon as they sat down, Sooyoung was all over Jiwoo. There wasn’t a spot on her face that her lips didn’t touch. She moved down to her neck, leaving a trail of kisses down to the collar of her shirt. Sooyoung leaned her head back again, taking the opportunity to stare at the girl in front of her.

“I still can’t get over how cute you are,” she said in between breaths.

Jiwoo swallowed, then leaned back in to kiss Sooyoung’s lips again.

She had never been too great with the flirting, it had always worked in her favor just to skip to the action. And with such a gorgeous woman in front of her, she found herself even more lost for words than normal.

At Sooyoung’s apartment, things were no different, and Jiwoo enjoyed her time with the red-haired girl even though she didn’t say much.

Jiwoo walked into LOONA Fashion Company a week later, excited beyond her mind to get a glimpse of what it could be to work there. She walked up to the main desk, told the man working that she had an interview, and found herself waiting for someone named Jinsol.

Jinsol walked in with a Chinese woman, Gaahei. Together, the two of them reviewed her application and talked to her about what the job would entail. The only thing Jiwoo remembered specifically from that day was the last bit, when Jinsol asked her if she could start next Monday.

~~~
Jiwoo found her desk fairly easily, but she did notice that both of her deskmates were not yet there. She wondered if they just came in later, or didn’t work on mondays. The answer came, however, when two women came around the corner, coffees in hand, and stopped at the desk next to Jiwoo.
“Oh, hi! You must be the new girl,” said one of them. Jiwoo turned her head to greet her new coworkers. “I’m Jungeun, and this is Sooyoung, nice to meet you!”
“I’m…” She stammered over her words when she saw her. “I’m Jiwoo.”
~~~

This new job was harder than Jiwoo imagined, especially since there was a particular, very gorgeous, woman to her right. It was almost distracting at times, her thoughts wandering over to when she saw her at the club, face glowing at the poorly lit bar, a little tipsy from the cocktail in her hand.

She remembered that night, too, the intimacy that they had shared before realizing they were to work together soon enough.

It didn’t seem to phase Sooyoung, though, and that got to Jiwoo. She couldn’t stand that her new, really hot coworker whom she had sex with a few weeks before, never looked to be dealing with what Jiwoo was facing. She only ever treated Jiwoo as a coworker, looked at her as a coworker, talked to her as a coworker.

It was as if that night never even existed, or mattered, to her, and Jiwoo didn’t like that. She needed to know that she was worth something, that she was special enough to finally have an effect on this unfazed girl.

But this little self-imposed challenge to get Sooyoung to crack started to backfire when Jiwoo realized she may have caught feelings for the older girl.

It was at the coffee maker when she realized this. Sooyoung had come up behind her as she was waiting for the water to boil, and started to make conversation with her. By the time they both got to pour their coffee, Sooyoung said she had to go meet with someone. But before leaving, she reached out, petting the top of Jiwoo’s head. Not enough to mess up her hair, but enough to get Jiwoo’s heart racing and her face flushing.

She didn’t know what overcame her, but she went through the rest of the day on edge, butterflies forming in her stomach every time Sooyoung did so much as look at her.

It wasn’t her fault that Sooyoung was so attractive, and kind, and so helpful to Jiwoo.

And that’s how Jiwoo spent the next month, pining after her deskmate who she had definitely fucked before. But she didn’t know what to do, how to break the ice or stop herself from feeling these things.

But Jiwoo was okay with that, with these one-sided feelings. Sure, maybe she would never get the intimacy of being with Sooyoung in that way ever again, but she still enjoyed having a crush just as much. She couldn’t see it going anywhere anyways, and Sooyoung still showed no signs of returning the feeling, so Jiwoo decided to be content where she was.

And that was perfectly fine with her, until Sooyoung dragged her to an empty room one day, and confessed everything to her.
