Work Text:
Salazar stood with the Ministry official waiting for her to come in and say yes to the beginning of the rest of their lives.
The others didn’t know that Rowena and he were together— He wanted it that way most of the time but sometimes he wanted to just shout it from the highest of the tower of Hogwarts.
He loved her and that’s why they had first moved to Scotland to get away from her family that didn’t approve of their relationship. That was when they met Helga and Godric and came up with the idea of the school.
But they still kept their relationship secret because Godric would turn on Rowena if he knew.
Salazar and Godric had clashed from the beginning about everything. Now he was getting married to his best friend and he couldn’t be happier. He still remembered the day she said yes.
He had found her sitting in one of the abandoned classrooms, nose stuck in a book as always and he couldn’t think of a moment he loved her more.
Walking further into the room, he waited until she finished the passage she was reading before interrupting her.
“Hey love,” Salazar said quietly, wrapping his arms around her from behind.
“Salazar! You know we can’t be like this at this time of the day,” Rowena exclaimed.
“They are in the forest and I set a charm on the corridor that will alert me if anyone is coming this way,” he said.
Sitting down beside her, he smiled and kissed her.
“Fine, just for a little while,” she conceded.
“We need to create a room that no one can enter or find that gives us the exact space we are looking for,” he said.
“I already had some plans drawn up for that, we can work on them together later,” Rowena said.
“I have a question for you,” Salazar said with nervous laughter bubbling up.
“What’s that my love?” Rowena asked.
“Will you do the honour of marrying me?” Salazar asked, pulling out a sapphire and diamond ring.
“Yes, I will marry you,” Rowena replied, pulling him into a kiss just as the spell alerted them that someone was coming.
Salazar slid the ring on her finger and disillusioned it and himself just as Helga entered the classroom.
Rowena entered the small room and smiled at Salazar. It was finally happening. They were finally getting married.
The official performed the ritual without break and then pronounced them married. When he left the two of them in the room to file their marriage paperwork away, Rowena stepped closer to Salazar and apparated them away to a little cottage not far from Hogwarts where they had agreed to have their honeymoon so that they didn’t have to hide.
They didn’t know it then but soon they would have to come up with a story of how Rowena got pregnant when there was no wizard in the picture.

“Come on, love, push!” Salazar encouraged her.
They had spirited themselves away in their room that they had finally finished so that he could be there for the birth of his daughter.
A loud scream welcomed their little girl to the world and Salazar looked on her with pride.
He loved his girls and he would do anything to protect them.
“What shall we name her?” Salazar asked his exhausted wife.
“Helena Ravenclaw Slytherin, when it’s us. But Helena Ravenclaw to the world, you know how they will react now after everything that has happened with you and Godric,” Rowena said.
“I know, I wish it was different but I will not change my views for him,” Salazar ranted.
“And neither shall you have to, now's not the time. Now’s the time to hold us, Salazar,” Rowena suggested.
“Now that I can do,” he said, climbing onto the bed and pulling his two girls into his arms.
This secret was for the best. It would protect Rowena and Helena.
