1:38 am
The white moon casted a enveloping and loveable light over the ruined city. Everything that shouldn’t have happened, happened and now everything was going up in flames, literally and figuratively. Cars were burning, the roads were destroyed and littered with rubble. Countless of injured or deceased spider-people bodies were strewn over the city mess. The fighting had been going on for what? Hours now? Because it felt like it had been days and weeks of non stop fighting, injury, and blood. Miles' muscles started to ache a long time ago and honestly if he wasn't running completely on adrenaline he would've gone limp. Nevertheless, he had to push through. He had to continue fighting to save his city, friends, and family. The spot is a tough opponent, but Miles? Miles is tougher.
2:18 am
Almost all of the spider-people have fallen to The Spot. Only Miles, Gwen, Hobie, Pav, Peter, Peni, and a couple others are still standing. They've been taking hits left and right. Everyone that was left standing had tons of cuts and tears all over their body and suit. Yet whatever they throw at The Spot it barely affects him. It's not getting any easier to beat this guy. Electricity barely does anything to him and throwing punches or kicks are also hardly working . It was getting extremely aggravating and all Miles wanted to do was beat this guy then go lie down on his bed, forget everything about Spiderman, and listen to music to sleep.
2:53 am
This was bad, this was seriously very bad! Miles had gotten a striking hit from the Spot that sent him flying into a fat piece of rubble. It had left a slight imprint of his body after he had ricocheted off. This hit combined with the excessive amount of blood he's lost from every cut, tear, and scratch he got was sure to knock him unconscious. At this point he was barely able to stand upright. Miles was kneeling, eyes lidded, and just barely grasping onto consciousness. Sooner than later he was gonna pass out, or at this rate, even die .
3:15 am
" We're not winning against this thing. Miles is almost out cold and we still need him standing." Gwen says breathy beside Hobie. Both of them had cuts up and down their suit, blood trickling down out of most of them. They both had seen Miles take that awful hit and had been turning back to see if he was still alive ever since. Hobie nodded, "Alright I'll take Miles somewhere to regroup while you hold spots monster off." He turned to Miles but then looked back at Gwen, "But not because you told me to." After he said that, he was gone in a flash. Gwen huffed, "Of course…. Now," she turned back to the rampaging spot monster. "Back to you."
3:16 am
Miles felt warm, so very, very warm. Not warm like burning skin warm. Warm like a comforting and comfortable type, like being wrapped in the arms of your lover, while y'all huddle together on the couch and watch horror films. There was also a sense of floating. Like how it feels to be atop the Williamsburg Bank, overlooking everyone and everything . Was this how it felt to..die? …No- no wait-! He can't die yet- stay up!
"-Awake!" Miles' eyes blurrily peeked open. He could see the outline of another Spiderman over him saying..? What was he saying?
"S- awake Miles- pl-..." Something about being awake? Miles tried his hardest to clear the drowsiness from his mind, open his eyes up enough to see who was talking to him, and know what he was saying. Miles strained his eyes open wider and finally got it was- "Ho- Hobie..? "
Hobie's eyes shot open, excitement rushing to him knowing Miles hasn't gone out yet. "Yes- yes it's me. Now- now Miles, stay with me."
"I.. im here, at least i'm trying to stay here." Miles wheezed
"I can tell, and you're doing an excellent job now, keep it up." Hobie hurriedly grabbed Miles' hand and squeezed it reassuringly. " I just need you to stay with me man."
" I'm trying." The hand was so warm and comforting he just wanted to- "Miles! Miles man stay with me!" Right- right he had to keep his eyes peeled so as to not pass out. "Sorry, your hand... its- its really comfortable."
"Well you'll be able to hold it more often when we both make it out alive."
"Is that a deal?"
Hobie huffed "Its promise. Now can you try and sit up for me."
Oh god, that was not something Miles had any intention of doing. It hurt to even lay here. But sit up?! That was gonna be tough. Nonetheless he was gonna pull through. He gripped Hobie's hand for support, gathered up all the strength he had and forced his aching body to get upright into a sitting potion. As soon as he had done that, he ripped off the mask to get a breath of fresh air. He softened the grip on Hobie's hand and finally opened his eyes wide to get a full, non blurry view of Hobie's spider outfit. And boy did he almost break out in tears because of how refreshing it was to see. "Dude," Miles huffed, "I feel torn up." He took a quick scan as to where they were and it looked like the very top of a crumbling building. It was a little bit far away from the main battle so they're probably out of danger for a while.
"Probably 'cause you are." Hobie laughed and motioned down Miles' body with his free hand.
"Right."
Their conversation was left at that for a moment before Miles let out a rib cage aching laugh. Hobie looked at him like he was stupid, "Am I missing a joke? What's funny?"
"Nothing, nothing. It's just- this is not at all- what I thought was gonna happen. It's all kinda ridiculous."
Hobie smirked, "Well what did u think was gonna happen?"
"I don't know but anything other than this- The Spot slaughtering damn near *all* of the spider people and the rest of us being on the brink of death." Miles ranted.
Hobie shrugged, "Well I guess you gotta expect the unexpected."
"Dude, I don't get you at all."
Hobie's eyebrow quirked up, "What's not to get?"
" A lot dude! A lot, for one: you're always so chill and laid back about everything. Its like you haven't even heard of the word 'stressed.'"
Hobie huffed and took off his mask unannounced. (It caught Miles off guard a bit) Wicks popped out every which way and under them was an attractive dark skinned face with piercings scattered all over. "I don't know man, I guess I just keep it under wraps. Not letting anyone know what I'm thinking, and not caring about what other people think."
Miles just stared, hard. Just cause- "How could someone possibly be this cool."
Hobie laughed "Don't act like you aren't yourself, I've seen your dope ass art skills, and how you use humor to cope with everything. Not to mention how badass you are in fighting, your entire lightning thing and invisibility. I've never seen any spider person do it like you have."
Miles got a wee-bit hotter, was the fire getting to them? The thought of Hobie noticing all those things about him and describing him like that definitely didn't make him a bit flustered. "Oh-uhm- thank you man." Miles stammered out and turned his head. Hobie chuckled, "No problem Morales."
Morales? Miles snapped his head back to the smirking Hobie . Oh he had to have done that on purpose. And it was definitely doing to Miles what Hobie wanted it to do. But the way his last name just rolled off Hobie's tongue like butter and Miles' stomach doing somersaults. "Morales? Thats a new one?"
"Just trying to change it up." Hobie shrugged. "Do you remember that promise we made a couple minutes ago?"
"Promise? What promise?"
"When I promised I'll let you hold my hand more often when we make it outta here."
"What!? When was tha- ohh yeah. I forgot that." Miles directed his eyes then looked back. "Is the deal off?"
Hobie laughed and leaned in, nose just barely not touching Miles' "Definitely not." Miles could practically feel Hobie's breath on his lips, speaking of lips. His is so big and they look kinda soft, what would a kiss feel like? Miles thought, somehow so entranced that he forgot that the other man could see him eyeing his lips .
Know what- fuck it
It wasn't clear who went in first but it all happened at once: Hobie wrapping his free arm around Miles' back and Miles putting his free hand around Hobie's neck. And then they connected. It was sweet and passionate. It made him feel as though he and Hobie were the only people in the world right now and only them and this kiss mattered. And it wasn't brief either; it felt like it lasted for a good while. Unfortunately when they pulled back the ecstasy slowly faded out and he was left dazed.
Hobie smiled and got up, letting go of Miles' hand in the process, "Well Morales, on that splendid note don't you think we should get back to kicking ass?" He held out a hand for Miles.
Miles readily took the hand "Hell-fucking-yeah."
