If You Get Hurt, I'll Kill Them

Summary:

Miguel decides to go skydiving with the rest of the Miyagi-fangs, and Robby doesn't like that idea one bit.

Work Text:

Nobody really knew how fiercely protective Robby was of his family. Granted, there was that time that Robby was pissed at Miguel for hitting Sam when they were at that beach party, long before the boys became friends, or brothers, or whatever it was that Robby and Miguel were now. But that was nothing on what happened on this particular day.

It was Hawk’s idea to go skydiving. He thought it would be fun to be able to “fly” like his namesake. It wasn’t his fault that the rest of Miyagi-Fang wanted to come along. It wasn’t Hawk’s fault that Miguel decided that he wanted to try skydiving too. It wasn’t Hawk’s fault that Robby thought that sky diving was too dangerous.

As much as Robby hated letting Miguel do something that he dubbed to be stupid and dangerous, Robby knew that it was not within his power to stop the boy who had become like a brother to him. Robby drove Miguel to the place where everyone else would be doing their skydiving. Much of the hour-long drive was silent except for the music coming from the speakers.

Then Robby broke the silence saying, “If you get hurt, I will kill them.”

Miguel knew better than to tell Robby off for the threat. He knows that it is just Robby’s odd way of showing affection, protectiveness to the point of threatening murder. He also knows that Robby wouldn’t actually harm any of the Miyagi-fangs, so he let that part go, saying, “I’m not going to get hurt, Robby. I’ll be fine.”

“I know. Because they all know that I would kill them if you got hurt,” Robby responded.

Robby's breathing was a little heavier than normal, not heavy enough to be a full-blown panic attack, but difference enough to show that Robby's anxiety was getting the better of him. Miguel noticed this and refused to respond to Robby’s behavior, which would only reinforce Robby's anxious behavior.

When they arrived and everyone did their skydiving, no one was injured, much to Robby’s relief. He didn’t want anything else to ever hurt the boy that he had come to think of as a brother ever again.
