Work Text:

Luke blindly believed everything Michael told him, about the goodness of the Celestial Realm, about how demons were nothing but evil beings full of evil and darkness, about his "ungrateful" brothers who rebelled for a sinful angel. Luke grew up with his love, but also under his lies, he looked at him as if he was the one who put the moon and stars, aspiring to be like him when he grew up.

It made Simeon feel sick.

Simeon knew the truth of that archangel, how cruel and ruthless he was, he remembered in great detail the desperate cries of Mammon begging him to be taken out of that dark room, how he abused Leviathan by treating him like a monster, the way he allowed Asmodeus to be sexualized, how he forced Beelzebub to take a position he did not want; making him train to exhaustion, as he did less to Belphegor. As he did and undid with him, as he snatched his purity and demoted him for trying to defend Lucifer. But these horrors were silenced by his lips for a long time.

Then came the Exchange Program organized mainly by Diavolo, being selected to go with little Luke, and although he had been terrified, Simeon did not bother to hide his excitement at seeing his fallen brothers again.

That was Luke's first question.

When they were assigned to the Hall of Purgatory, Luke caught Simeon in his room asking him with all the innocence and lies of Michael echoing in his head, why he seemed so happy to have met those demons, they were nothing more than evil beings. Instead of answering, he said, with all the love in the world.

"—Let us know them, Luke, remember that a book is not judged by its cover, and once upon a time they were our brothers" —Luke with indignation claimed that they were still demons.

However, he allowed himself to open up to them, taking affection for them little by little between the jokes, he stopped at some point from being just the little angel they bothered to be the younger brother of all.

But still ignorant of the darkness of them, he trembled in fear finally when Mammon had a terrible panic attack, he felt as if the world had suddenly stopped when he had barely mentioned Michael trying to know about him, Luke could not erase from his mind the watery and pleading eyes of the second brother, as Lucifer had hugged the white haired allowing him to call him by his old name, it took almost an hour to reassure him and convince him that they were safe, far away.

Simeon finally revealed to him the reason for Mammon's behavior, how the seven felt freer than in Heaven, they had abandoned God and the other angels, but they still have them, and he was able to see love in another way. Luke didn't want to believe it, he cried when Simeon in his own tears told his experience, when each brother told him his story, not to put it against Michael... The little angel would not forget Lucifer's words:

"—What we have told you, Luke, is so that you do not walk with blind faith, although Michael can love you and not harm you at all, we reveal this to you because of the love we have taken from you, because we prefer that you know what you navigate in the dark, so that you know that it is okay to doubt, to ask, to talk, that it is okay to love unconditionally but without forgetting yourself. That's okay?"

And Luke for the first time saw the perfect angel he had been, a wise one, who in love for his brothers challenged and fought, who did not allow his devotion to be blind. And he would make sure to firmly follow his advice.
