Work Text:
The crowd walks away from the beach along with the pigs except me. I stand and watch as red pick through the rubble of his once home. “5 years…” he mumbled to himself.
I couldn’t help but feel bad for him. I approached him feeling a pit in my stomach as I see just how much damage the pigs had done. No matter how rude he was to others this wasn’t okay. This was someone’s home. He didn’t deserve this.
“A-are you okay” I said nervously. Shocked that anyone would actually speak to him he looked up from the rubble in his hands. “Yeah…I’ll be fine. I probably deserved it anyway…” he’s said mumbling that last part. “It’s not fair how they treat you. You might be a grump but you still deserve to be treated like…like you matter.” I got down on my knees and sat next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. “I’m not even that mean. Or at least I try not to be.” He says keeping his eyes focused on the sand. “I understand. Yknow I’ve seen u, and what they say about you just isn’t true. You’re only mean when they’re doing some dumb shit.” She chuckles “And even when you cause an accident that’s just what it is. An accident. Like back with the guy and the egg thing. I wasn’t there but I know him personally and I’m sure whatever you did was deserved. Granted the egg thing wasn’t okay but it still wasn’t completely your fault.” You give him a warm smile and squeeze his shoulder. “Thank you.” He said simply yet it carried so much genuine emotion that I knew how much it meant to him. We both just sat there on the beach in silence looking up at the stars as we both got lost in thought.
“What am I gonna do” he whispered to himself after so long. After thinking about it I said on impulse. “You could come stay at my place for a while.” What did I just say? “The scenery’s isn’t as great as this and my place is pretty empty but I have a spare room you could crash in for the time being.” I couldn’t stop myself by that point. I got so wrapped up in thinking about how shitty this situation is that my instincts took over. Although at this point I wasn’t completely sure if I regretted the offer...
“Seriously?” He said with a shocked look. In that alone It felt like no one had done anything nice for him in a long time and my heart ached at the thought.
What the hell. I’m already in this deep. “Sure why not. I could use the company. This is just an offer by the way you don’t have to say yes. I can see you have a lot of friends who would love for you to come stay w them.” I said sarcastically holding my arms out out towards the emptiness behind the two of us.
He rolls his eyes “Haha very funny.” He said throwing that sarcasm back at me.
“I would really appreciate that” he said, his tone changing entirely. He was being completely honest and I felt my heart race. I wanted more of his raw sensitive self and I didn’t understand why.
“Cool. If you wanna grab some things I’ll wait and we can head to my place” I said smiling at him as I held a hand out to help him up.
As both of us stood He thanked me before heading into what was left of his home. He walked out shortly with a toothbrush, pillow, and a blanket.
“Ready?”
He nods
The two of you then head into the direction of your house starting a conversation not looking back.
