Chapter Text
Prologue: The Door
Lockwood opened the door and the smell of dust flew right into the group's faces. Lucy went inside first, she saw a little bed to the side of the room. The walls were decorated with portraits of a family of four and painted a faded shade of pink. As she was looking around she barely heard Lockwood creep up behind her. "You should know that this was my late sisters room, her name was Jessica." Lockwood said softly to them as he was glancing at a photo of her. She looked around six or seven in it.
"I'm so sorry." Lucy says with a sense of pity . George then went by the bed and touches the headboard he feels overwhelmed with a rush of grief, he never knew his best friend had a sister.
Lockwood trying to lighten up the mood showed them the trunk full of dresses and toys his sister had, and showing Lucy a box of all his mother's jewelries. "So, any questions." Lockwood said to the two who looked deep in thought.
They all went downstairs to the thinking cloth.
-30 minutes later-
"Ok, I think that's all the questions I have." Lucy says. Lockwood nods and asks "George do you have anything." George looks up." Yes, I do actually. Whys her name Jessica, why not something more unique like Marissa." he says with sassy remark.
"Wow still the same George, with his lofty remarks." Lockwood says with a smirk. He understands that George can be very blunt in situations like this, it's like his way of coping. Lockwood just chuckled it off and moved on.
Lucy looked at him like he's crazy. The phone starts to ring and Lockwood got up and answered it. " Hello Lockwood and Co, this is Anthony Lockwood speaking." he said. "Yes, this is Lisa Carter, I would like to hire you for a case."
