"What exactly would the 'discipline' be? You going to dock my pay? Ground me?"
Lockwood reached for the teapot, pouring himself a refill with steady hands. He looked incredibly calm, almost bored, but there was a distinct challenge in the set of his jaw.
"The usual," Lockwood said, his tone light, as if discussing the weather. "You know. Corner time. Spanking. That sort of stuff. Not like I haven't done it before."

Summary
Lucy took a deep breath. Then another. Her heart thudded heavily and she knew he would hear, knew she shouldn’t linger on the threshold, but with each time she came down here it grew harder to push past her fears and worries and step through.
She placed the lantern on the floor and slid back the heavy bolt. The door swung open on well-oiled hinges, a growing sliver of light arcing across the room beyond and falling on him…or what was left of him.
The creature watched her, irises glowing iridescent like a cat’s in the dark. He was kneeling on the floor, heavy chains padlocked around his wrists, leading back to iron rings set into the cement wall. Aside from the dark stains on his white collared shirt and the madness in his eyes, he looked the same as he’d always done: pale skin, dark ruffled hair, long elegant limbs.
Lockwood.

Summary
Lucy woke to the overly-loud hum of Portland Row’s ancient furnace. Due to its age, the house was very nearly always cold, leading to much grumbling in the early mornings when slippers had to be donned lest frost creep right up a person's toes. For this reason, Lucy found it rather strange that she was so warm. She blinked her eyes open slowly. The fireplace in the library lay dormant, as always, as some of George’s books were so old and dusty there was a true risk they would catch fire from the mere presence of a flame. Despite this, the room was cast in a golden glow, courtesy of the Christmas lights that were still wrapped artfully around that year's tree.

Summary
Twas the night after Christmas and inside Portland Row,
Not a creature was stirring from Lockwood & Co.
The wine had been drunk and all swords put aside,
And to slumber and rest had each agent retired.
Their salt bombs lay dormant, each flare carefully stashed,
And the bones of the turkey were put out with the trash.
Our trio were peaceful, the house calm and still,
When a ghost came a-creeping from a skull on the sill... -

Summary
"Jesus, you're just a child."
Lockwood froze, tensed to run even though he was still strapped into the awful chair. It wasn't Winkman though: the newcomer's voice was too hard, too feminine, and (despite the comment) too young. He made the spasming muscles in his neck cooperate enough to look over his shoulder and got his first look at them: a girl leaning against the doorframe, probably no older than himself. Winkman still hadn't returned and the security alarm still blared somewhere off in the warehouse. He pulled together his best approximation of the Anthony Lockwood Smile given the circumstances and kept subtly trying to wiggle his hands free of the restraints. "Forgive my presumption, but if I'm a child I belive the same can be said of you."
Or: 5 times Lucy shuts a door in Lockwood's face +1 time she doesn't.

Summary
In a matter of seconds ice is forming a thin sheet over his jacket, cracking with every shuddering breath he takes, and despite his layers it feels like he'll never be warm again. He tries to reach out for that rainbow glimmer of the cape but the cold sucks the strength from him too quickly to stretch even the scant meter to his salvation and he abruptly realizes he is going to die.
As quickly as the knowledge hits him the cold starts to retreat. Frost cracks off of his fingertips and doesn't reform. Ice melts down the back of his neck and his shiver doesn't lock up all of his muscles. He's still cold, still shuddering and weak and helpless on the ground, but it doesn't feel like the life is getting frozen out of him anymore. What's more, a soft golden light, the only real color he's seen in hours, dances around him.

Summary
He said he would be fine.
He was very emphatic about it, actually, his smile wide enough to crinkle the corners of his eyes. When George and Lucy really pushed him on it, he even claimed that he would appreciate the alone time, and that "I get enough of you two the rest of the year, I could use a break." But Lucy could tell that Lockwood was lying, that he was dreading her and George going home for Christmas.
So halfway through her bus ride home, she turned around.

Summary
In the third week of June, in the fiftieth year of the Problem, a heatwave descended upon London. From Monday to Thursday, a sky so blue, it was truly foreboding, hung above the city. The air was so hot, stuffy, and sticky, that it was almost palpable. No clouds offered a refuge from the cruel sun blazing over London. This weather made most people irritable. Lucy Carlyle was irritable too, but she had a good reason to feel so… it so happened that this was the week Lucy had realized that she was dying.
In the world ravaged by the Problem, teenagers still suffer from unrequited love. Lucy Carlyle, is unfortunately one of them and have contracted the worst version of this ailment the dreadful Hanahaki disease.
