Convinced at first he was only keeping her close to make sure she kept his secret, he eventually realizes she means more to him than he would have ever thought possible. Alastor always struggles to trust though, even when it is the one person he knows he can.
This is their story told both on earth in the 1920's and in the afterlife, and where the choices they make lead them.
This story is mostly written but I am only posting a chapter a week. So it is extremely unlikely this will end incomplete. I always hate when my favorite fanfics never finish, so I am not going to do that to anyone. :)
