Notes:

I don’t really know where this idea came from, but it just an idea that I wanted to write down at least. I’m not sure how long this work will be and how it will go because I’m just writing as I go.

With that being said, I don’t know how frequently I’m going to update. This is my first fic so bear with me 😭.

If there’s any grammatical mistakes please let me know! Comments are appreciated!

English isn’t my first language, so please excuse them 😭.

I don’t know how a mafia works, I’ve just read a lot of mafia manhwa and manga, so I’m going by that knowledge. This isn’t supposed to be a accurate representation of how a mafia works, so please excuse my lack of knowledge on this topic.

Enjoy loves!

Chapter Text

The world really wasn’t on his side, thought Isagi Yoichi, one of the few insiders of the one and only mafia organization in Japan, Bluelock. Bluelock was a mafia run by Jinpachi Ego. The crime organization had started small and had a history of being the weakest organization in the world, but that title was soon cast aside when Jinpachi Ego took over as the new head. Jinpachi Ego was an only child, so when his old man died he was obviously the successor. After Jinpachi Ego’s succession, the organization took a drastic turn. Many members tried to kill the man, only because he looked like an easy target. He didn’t have the firmest and sturdiest physique, so he was looked at as weak, but all the assassination attempts were failures. Only because Jinpachi Ego was a man with skill. He suit the role as the head.

Back to Isagi’s dreadful day. He wasn’t sure as to why he was inside his boss’ office listening to him ramble on about some new mission. On most days, he would listen to the lanky man, but today was not the day. He had previously been assigned to newbies and everyone knows how that goes. Newbies are the worst to train, they get simple instructions wrong and take forever to execute them.

Isagi really did want to listen to his big-eyed boss, but he just couldn’t bring himself to. ‘Newbies and their nonexistent tact’ thought Isagi for the hundredth time today.

“Are you listening, Isagi? This mission is important and I trust you to complete it seamlessly like always,” said Ego monotone.

“Ah yes, I’m listening. It's just that our new recruits are worse than I was as a newbie, didn’t know that could be possible. I was pretty bad,” said Isagi, reminiscing his old untrained self. Ego chuckled at that.

“Yeah you really were. Had you train you myself,” said Ego with amusement lacing his voice.

“Yeah, yeah whatever,” Isagi said as he brushed his boss off. They had an odd relationship for a boss and employee, but it worked. After all, Ego had given Isagi a chance to change his life. Took Isagi under his wing.

“Give me another run down for my mission again. I was out of it the entire time you were explaining.” Isagi really needed to get the newbies under shape, but that would have to wait. He had to complete this oh so important mission Ego was raving about.

“You’re going overseas and joining hands with Bastard Munchen in order to take out a rivaling organization. The organization is a threat to both us and Bastard, so we’re going to nip that organization in the bud before they get out of hand. You’ll be there for around 5 months, get it done by then,” said Ego as he handed Isagi a passport and some documents he would need.

“Bastard Munchen, as in Noel Noa’s organization?!” Isagi couldn’t help but let his excitement out while saying those words. When Isagi was a boy, Noel Noa’s name would be heard everywhere on the streets. Noel Noa was a man worthy of praise and praise only. Isagi had developed a sense of admiration for the mafia leader and had always hoped that he could express it one day and an akin of hope sparked when he had joined Bluelock as a boy. Call it sick or whatever, but Isagi had always admired Noel’s work ethic and methods. Mafia or not, Noel was a smart and diligent man when it came to getting the job done.

“Yes, yes, Noel Noa, my lovely husband that you admire oh so much,” said Ego with sarcasm lacing his voice. One important thing to note, Ego was married to Noa. It was arranged in order to keep peace between the two organizations, but the marriage had blossomed into something romantic after the two men got to know each other. Ego would fly to Munich, Germany ever so often to meet his lover and Noa would do the same. The two would text and call frequently, so it worked out somehow.

“I mean he’s an admirable man. I remember meeting him once after you brought me to Munich with you. Oh how annoying it was to be stuck being playmates with Noa’s nephew. You really had to bring me to Germany just because Noa got a little sick. I swear you guys don’t say anything sweet to each other, but you guys’ actions say it all.” Isagi thought about the abrupt departure he had to take and Ego literally tapping his fingers the entire flight from Japan to Germany. Noa was fine, but Isagi sure wasn’t. He was stuck with the annoyest 12 year old, Micheal Kaiser. Isagi shivered at the thought of the name.

“Well his health is important and I love the man,” said Ego trying to sound as nonchalant as possible, but the slight blush was noticeable due to his pale skin.

“Noa would be thrilled to hear that from you and your stoic face,” Isagi said with amusement.

“Anywho enough of that. You’re going to be working there as I said, for 5 months to eliminate the opposing mafia organization. I believe you are going to be assigned a partner from Bastard because this issue also involves them. Noa didn’t tell me who your partner was, but he said that he was adequate for you. Something about being the perfect pair…, ” Ego said as he continued “You’ll be infiltrating the organization, you know what to do next.” Ego says this with a matter-of-fact tone and Isagi nods.

“So when shall I leave, old man?” Isagi doesn’t waste time on things and this is one of many things he doesn’t want to spend any longer than 5 months on.

Ego ignores the snarky name and says, “well in about two days. Get packed and pack the right amount, you always pack too little. And last but not least stay safe Yoichi.” Ego doesn’t use Isagi’s given name often and when he does it’s only when his emotions are overwhelming.

With that in mind, Isagi tries to lessen Ego’s fear, “I will, you know that.”

With that two days go by and Isagi is at the airport on the phone with Ego for the last time before he boards the plane.

“I got it, stop being so worried I’ll be perfectly fine, old man.” Isagi always knew that Ego worried about him more than others, so he doesn’t mind when Ego nags to him about not missing meals and getting a good amount of rest (like that’s even possible when you’re in the mafia) but Isagi won’t mention that to Ego.

Ego finally lets him go and the phone call ends. With that Isagi gets his plane ticket checked and boards the plane. Seated in the business class part, Isagi braces himself for the long grueling flight ahead of him.

The usual “and we’re off” from the pilot the plane lifts off and the flight has started and Isagi is already drifting off to sleep.

Notes:

Mane I just love Isagi and Ego’s relationship. Like they’re so dad-son coded. Ego definitely favors Isagi in Blue Lock (the manga) and no one can convince me otherwise.
