Big brother Shinya

Summary:

A fic where Shinya is a good big brother and Shinoa tries to be a cute brat.

A birthday fic for Jel aka my mom who is like Shinya

Notes:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEL! I came up with this idea because I really wanted to write Shinya being a good big brother to Shinoa. I had to write this because Jel reminds me of Shinya and I remind everyone of Shinoa plus I am a sucker for loving big brothers. I hope you enjoy it!

Work Text:

Shinya sighed, sitting in his room. He was bored. It was the first day he had gotten off of school as well as training for the moon demon company. He rubbed his head. While a day off might have sounded nice Shinya wasn't sure what to do. Guren was busy as usual, Kureto was doing god knows what, and Shinya didn't really know what to do. He heard tiny footsteps running up the hall. He was glad to see his sniper training was working so well. He heard a knock at the door. Shinya was sure he knew who it was. Only one person would be up so early. Shinya got up from his bed, walking over to the door. He opened the door to get a face full of glitter. Shinya coughed, hearing small giggles. He opened his eyes to see Shinoa standing there, giggling. Her hair was messy and she was still dressed in her night clothes. Shinya knew that the little purple haired girl liked to play jokes on him and hang out with him because he was nice. He didn't get mad at her for behaving childish. Maybe he adored the little bundle of trouble because she was little and she deserved to be able to act her age. Maybe it was because he himself had been robbed of his childhood. He wasn't sure what it was, but he swore to himself he would make her have a better childhood then he could ever dream of. Shinya smiled at her bending down to her level.

“I got you good Shinya-nii.” Shinoa said, bouncing around a bit. She stuck her tongue out, smiling.

“Yes you did.” Shinya said, smiling. He picked Shinoa up, tickling her. She started squirming in his arms. She started laughing, tears forming in her eyes from how hard she was laughing. Shinya started laughing. He set Shinoa down on his bed. “And I got you.” Shinoa smiled up at Shinya. Shinya ruffled her hair. “Go get dressed and we will have a tea party and I will braid your hair.” Shinoa smiled, standing up, running out. Shinya's smile faded as she left. He was scared for her. She was so young, so vulnerable. He was scared the higher ups would use her. She would be used the same way Mahiru had. Because she was like Mahiru, but at the same time not. He would protect Shinoa. He would keep her safe because that's what Mahiru would have wanted. Because Shinya considered Shinoa his little sister. He wanted to keep her safe.

Shinya always loved hanging out with Shinoa. She was so free spirited, didn't let her family issues get her down. She may have been a child, but she was aware of what went on. Even if she didn't fully understand it. Shinya sat across from Shinoa, watching her pour their tea. She set the tea pot down, handing Shiny his cup. “Thank you.” Shinya said. Shinoa nodded her head.

“Can I paint your nails later Shinya-nii?” Shinoa asked. Shinya smiled and nodded his head. He seen her smile brightly. She had Mahiru's smile. In a way it looked like the dead girl and at the same time it was Shinoa's own. It was her childlike wonder that filled her tiny smile. Shinya sipped his tea. He wished she could stay little forever. Innocent and pure. He seen the girl jump up after finishing her tea and cookies. She ran over to him, grabbing his hand pulling on it. Shinya smiled standing up. He walked over to the middle of her room, sitting on the floor. She had a decent sized room for being rejected by her family. Shinoa smiled, taking out some pink nail polish from a box she had in her room. She loved painting Shinya's nails pink. Every time she painted them it was purple or pink, though she saved the purple for herself most the time. She began painting his nails, giggling softly. Shinya smiled, a gentle smile. It was the first true smile he had smiled in awhile. He sadly had not as of late got to spend much time with Shinoa. Once she finished painting his nails, he started blowing on them to dry them faster. Once they were dry, Shinya started painting Shinoa's nails. He knew that she enjoyed these little sessions they had. Once he finished she started blowing on them to dry them faster.

“Ready for me to braid your hair?” Shinya asked. Shinoa smiled, nodding her head. She jumped up, running over to her bed. Shinya got up, walking over, taking a seat behind her. He picked up the brush from the bedside table, slowly running it through her hair. He was always careful not to pull her hair. Maybe that's why she liked him doing her hair. As well as the fact she had no one else to do it for her and she couldn't do it by herself. Shinya began braiding her hair the way she always liked it.

“Shinya-nii, you like that Guren guy don't you?” Shinoa asked. Shinya was taken aback by what Shinoa had asked. Did he like Guren? Of course he did. Why would she ask something like that?

“Of course I do. Why do you ask?” Shinya said. Shinoa gripped her skirt, tears forming in her eyes. Shinya could see from the way the little girls shoulders were shaking that she was upset. “Shinoa, whats wrong?” Shinya frowned. What could have her so upset?

“I don't want Shinya-nii to leave me like Mahiru did.” Shinoa said, tears falling onto her lap. Shinya hugged her tight from behind.

“Shinoa, I promise you. That is never going to happen.” Shinya said, petting her head. Shinoa nodded her head, wiggling her way free of Shinya's grasp and hugging him, burring her head in his chest. Shinya petted her head, smiling a little. Shinoa could be such a brat sometimes, but she was a cute brat. And she was a Hiiragi.

Shinya came home one night, later then he should have. He had been distracted by hanging out with Guren and lost track of time. He walked through the front door as quietly as possible. Once through it he seen Kureto standing at the top of the stairs, arms crossed. He could tell his big brother was clearly annoyed with him. “Kureto nii-san, what are you doing up at this time?” Shinya said, hiding his nervousness best he could.

“Wondering just where you were Shinya.” Kureto walked down the stairs, placing his hand on Shinya's shoulder. “I expect you will not be late again.” Kureto said. Shinya nodded his head. He felt a chill run down his spine. Kureto could truly be scary. Kureto nodded his head and began walking off. “Also, I thought I should inform you that Shinoa is in her room quite upset with your lack of time you have spent with her as of late.” Shinya's eyes widened. Shinoa was upset. Shinya walked upstairs to Shinoa's room. He felt like his heart was broke. He had crushed a little girls feelings. Shinoa was scared of being abandoned, scared of people leaving her. Her whole family had rejected her to make Mahiru the favorite child. She had never known much sibling love. Shinya was the only person who was there for her and as of late he had failed his job. He knocked at her door, hear soft sniffling on the other side of the door.

“Who is it?” Shinoa called out, voice sounding horse. Shinya sighed.

“It's me Shinya. Can I come in?” He asked. He didn't get an answer so he just went in. He need to talk to her. Tell her he is sorry and he won't ever leave her. He closed the door behind him, walking over to the bed where Shinoa was laying. He sat down, pulling her into a hug. “Shinoa, I promise I will be there for you more from now on.” he felt her hug him back tight, crying into his shoulder. “I'm so sorry. I got distracted, but I promise I won't leave you. I will never abandon you. You know why?” Shinya said, pulling Shinoa away enough that she could look him in the eye. “It's because you are my one and only little brat sister.” Shinya smiled. He seen Shinoa start to smile. He ruffled her hair. She started giggling. “Now let me fix your hair for you.” Shinya said. Shinoa nodded her head. Shinya couldn't ask for a better little sister.
