Summary:

Tarak and Charan have a midnight snack.

Work Text:

It was nearing midnight when Tarak came back to the flat, quietly closing and locking the door.

He walked straight over to the bed and leaned over Charan with a satisfied expression on his face as he ran his fingers down his face.

"Thank you for all your help today."

Charan woke up and looked at him, his eyes full of confusion.

"What are you thanking me for? I haven't done anything special."

Tarak pulled him closer, holding him tight in his arms as he kissed him, running his tongue over his lips. "Sure you have, you just don't realize it. You have done several things: for one, you brought up our new divan and arranged it in the flat without any assistance…"

Charan yawned. "Yes, but that also means that I brought it up here and arranged it without consulting you. You are the one who pays all the bills here, anna, I should have at least asked you -"

Tarak interrupted him with another kiss. This time it was much slower and longer than the first one, with a promise of more to come later on. It lasted until they both broke off for air. Tarak sighed happily. He always loved Charan's reaction to his kisses.

"No, Cherry, you don't have to ask me for anything. When it comes to décor and aesthetics, I trust you completely. And now, I can tell you what else you have done: you have loved and supported me unconditionally, when I doubted myself and my abilities…"

Charan smiled and quirked an eyebrow. "Anna, are you drunk?

"Nooo, I am not drunk!" Tarak snapped and hiccuped, holding onto the edge of the bed to keep himself from falling. "I am beginning to get annoyed by the assumption that every time I am up front and transparent about my feelings, I must be inebriated as a matter of course."

Charan's eyebrows rose. "You're speaking very distinctly for someone who has had too much to drink," he said softly.Tarak closed his eyes, feeling a pang of guilt that he'd let his mood get the best of him.

"Hey, you're right. You are absolutely right! Saif bhai would never have allowed me to drink too much. We have some important scenes to shoot tomorrow. A fight scene, probably the most important one of the film."

With that, Charan sat up, wide awake. "You have been out drinking with Saif Ali? Is drinking alcohol not prohibited in his religion?"

Tarak shrugged and sat on the bed, his cheeks flushed. "Eh, Saif bhai is a Muslim the same way that I am Hindu. We were born into families with certain systems of belief, but that does not mean that we have to share those beliefs. From the way he talks, Saif bhai sounds more like an agnostic than anything else. He doesn't believe in life after death, for one. He believes that once you die, poof, that's it! It's lights out."

"Ah, and what do you think, anna? What do you think happens when a person dies?" Charan asked.

Tarak scoffed and waved his hand. "I don't know. I don't really think anything happens. Once you die, you're dead, and that's it. Your body is burned, and then all you are is dust in the wind. Or you're buried, and your body becomes food for worms."

"Sarē. So then, your brother and your father have just turned into dust. They have no souls, and they will never be reborn into another form. You will never cross paths with them again." Charan sighed. "That may be the most depressing thing I have ever heard. Oh well, since I'm already awake, I think I'll go put on some tea."

Tarak watched as Charan slipped off the duvet and stood up, smoothing out the long black kurta he had begun to use as a nightshirt. When he began to walk away, Tarak reached out and grabbed the hem. "No! Please stop, don't go. Don't leave me here alone!"

Charan glanced over his shoulder. "I'm not leaving you, bangaram. I've suddenly decided I would rather have a midnight snack than tea. I think we have a pint of vanilla ice cream in the freezer. Come with me."

"Ok!" Tarak smiled and stood up, using the hem of Charan's kurta for balance. "Lead the way."

Charan and Tarak went to the kitchen, Tarak sitting at the table while Charan opened the freezer and took out a pint of Hico's vanilla ice cream. He got a single spoon from the dish rack and sat down, giving the pint of ice cream to Tarak.

Tarak smiled and opened the ice cream carton. "Ooh, I haven't had Hico's in years! So that's one more thing I can thank you for today!"

Charan scooped a spoonful of ice cream out of the pint and held it out toward Tarak. "Open wide, bangaram."

"Yes sir." Tarak opened his mouth and practically moaned with satisfaction when Charan fed him. He smacked his lips and let his tongue loll out of his mouth when he swallowed.

"Tarak…" Charan dropped the spoon and slipped his hands under Tarak's polo, running his fingers over his abs, brushing upward to gently caress his nipples.

Tarak growled low in his throat and hooked his arms around Charan's neck. "Charan…hurry up and kiss me!"

Charan's eyes glowed. "Sarē, anna."
