Work Text:
When Wednesday agrees to buy their daughter a Barbie doll to say that Tyler was shocked would be an understatement.
“Where’s the guillotine?” Tyler halfway jokingly asked as he stood next to his wife as he watched their daughter immediately began dressing the doll in a ton of different outfits that the doll had seemed to come with.
“No guillotine, just the doll.” Was all his wife said as she sipped her earl grey tea while reading over some important case files for work.
Her teen detective days never disappeared and Wednesday had went on to become a detective in the police force, of course she didn’t exactly cohere to the rules of the Jericho Police Department, she was more like an on call investigator the cops begrudgingly called in whenever a case got to tricky to handle.
Which happened a lot to their dismay.
“Really?” He rose a brow in confusion.
She sets her tea down and looks at him with the same dead eyes that never failed to make his heart content.
“Why do you seem surprised?” She asked inquisitively.
“I-i mean I didn’t think you’d just get her the doll without you know-”
“She asked for a barbie, so I gave her a barbie what more is their too it?” She asked.
He shook his head, “Never mind.”
She hummed in response and picked up her tea again ignoring the odd expression her husband was sending her.

When Tyler enters his daughters room he’s almost blinded by what he sees.
“Daddy, look mommy painted my room pink!!” She joyously gleamed.
Tyler didn’t know if it was because he was used to his home being decorated in mostly darker colors like black, merlot, greys, and even the occasional brown when a warmer setting was needed, but the sight of his daughters room nearly sent him into shock.
But it didn’t stop there.
No.
Because the room wasn’t just decorated pink, it had daisy’s, and heart shaped pillows, and fairy lights, and fluffy clouds on the walls.
And his mouth physically went agape at the rainbow rug he found himself stepping on.
He was speechless.
He suddenly felt a presence behind him, and spun around to find his wife there with dark colored sunglasses on.
“It’s the only way I could step foot in this room.” She said before he even asked.
He listened to his daughters enthusiasm for a good while as she pointed out all the decorations her mom had filled her room with and when she had finally finished he quickly took his wife’s hand and pulled Wednesday out into the hallway immediately placing a hand on her forehead.
“What on earth are you doing Galpin?” She said swatting his hand away.
She only called him Galpin when he annoyed her a bad habit she had taken from his dad only calling her Addams when he was annoyed with her, which was always.
“Are you sick?” He said.
“No, but if I stood in that room a second longer I can’t guarantee you I wouldn’t break out in hives.” She sighed.
“Wednesday, out of all the colors you hate pink the most, why’d you let her have her pink room?” He asked genuinely confused.
“She wanted pink.” She said bluntly.
“And? I wanted our lounge orange and you said it was only one step above yellow and said you’d rather stab your eyeballs out with dull scissors.” He reminded.
“Who could relax in a room that’s orange, the paint would be louder than the conversations we’d have.” She retorted.
“That’s exactly my point, why’d you give into her?”
“Have you ever thought I just like her more than you?” Wednesday asked.
“I know you tolerate us exactly the same, nice try though.” Tyler smirked.
Wednesday rolls her eyes and leaves a puzzled Tyler behind.

When Tyler comes home from his bakery shop, the last thing he expects to see is his daughter and girl friends dancing and screaming around the house to Frozen in princess attire.
No scratch that.
The thing that almost sends him into cardiac arrest was the sight of his wife in a blonde braided pigtail and blue dress, resembling Elsa and all her icy glory.
He drops the cake he had brought home for his daughters 6th birthday and suddenly he’s Han’s from Frozen A traitor to a bunch of small crying little girls.
“Wow Congratulations Tyler you’ve managed to become a traitor once again.” Wednesday says as she assists him on baking their daughter a new cake.
“I don’t wanna hear it, it’s your fault.” He groans whipping up the cake batter as quickly as possible before the girls sentences him to death by glitter bombing.
He’d never get it out of his hair.
“My fault? How?” Wednesday quirks a brow.
“Why the hell are you dressed like a Disney princess!?” He shouts all of her odder than normal actions giving him a migraine.
“She wanted me to dress up.” Wednesday shrugged.
“And you actually did it??” Tyler is confused. “Okay, who are you, and what did you do to my wife?” He asks yanking the wooden spoon out of the bowl and aiming it directly in front of his wife’s forever frowning face.
“Ruin my makeup and I'll ruin your limbs.” She darkly retorts shoving the battered spoon away from her face.
“WHO ARE YOU!?” Tyler clutches his head his headache only worsening.
The world was out of balance, this was not his wife, it couldn’t be.
“What are you talking about? I’m Wednesday Addams.”
“Then why aren’t you acting like it?!” He stresses searching his wife’s face in desperation.
“I don’t know what your talking about.” She says her voice carrying a irritated tone.
“My Wednesday Addams would never give their child a barbie without a guillotine, My Wednesday Addams would never let a room be pink, and more importantly my Wednesday Addams would certainly never dress up as a Disney Princess just because someone wanted them too!” He stresses not sure if he was trying to convince her or himself at that point but the look she was shooting him almost made him falter.
“Your right.” She cut him off. “Wednesday Addams would normally never let any of those things happen just because someone wanted her too, but our daughter isn’t just someone Tyler!” Wednesday snaps.
His breath hitches.
“Our daughter is an Addams Tyler.” She reminds.
“That’s common knowledge.” Tyler says. “But what does that have to do with anything that you’ve been doing.” He questions.
Wednesday sighs taking a seat on the counter islands stool.
“It means she doesn’t have long until she knows that.” Wednesday explains.
“I think our daughter knows her last name Wen’s.” Tyler sets the spoon back in the batter and sits at the stool next to Wednesday.
“But she doesn’t know the meaning, what that name brings, who that name attracts and who that name repels.” She states.
“I don’t follow Wen’s.” Tyler says his brows furrowing in confusion.
Wednesday shakes her head, “Eventually the people she goes to school with aren’t going to look at her as just another girl they go to school with, she’s going to be looked at as an Outcast, a girl who’s family finds the beauty in darkness, a family that has visions, monsters, and plenty of mysteries and that’s when her life will change. The moment she stops being a little girl, and becomes an Addams.” She says.
“Wen’s-
“So I gave her the barbie, the pink room, the princess party, to give her just a glimpse into what a normal girl experiences, not because I'm ashamed of my families bloodline, or the kookiness that resides in it, but to give her that option that just because she’s an Addams, doesn’t mean she has to be an Addams.” Wednesday finishes her eyes locked on Tyler’s awe stricken ones.
Tyler’s speechless, he had know idea her thoughts ran that deep for their daughter.
Or that she cared that much about their child’s own path.
“After all these years, how do you still find ways to make me fall in love with you?” Tyler asks shooting her one of his famous smiles that always blind her by how warm it always looked.
“Not my fault your clumsy.” She says.
He laughs and leans in placing a kiss to her lips.
“NOOO ELSA’S KISSING HAN’S, HOW MANY WAYS ARE YOU A TRAITOR!?” Their daughter screams as the little girls scream in dismay. “TRAITORS GET GLITTERBOMBED!!” Next thing Tyler knows he’s covered in glitter as the girls jump on him in a pile.
“Noo I'll never get this to wash off!!” Tyler cries.
“NO MERCY!!” Their daughter and her friends scream maniacally.
Wednesday smirks thinking just maybe their daughter is a Addams after all.

Hey guy’s hope you enjoyed this little one shot!! I love the idea of Wednesday and Tyler’s kids being quite opposite to their parents, but still display Addams traits. I think Wednesday would give their kids the freewill to be anything they wanted to be, and like anything they wanted to, even if it doesn’t vibe with their families ideals.
