Work Text:
A month had already passed since the unexpected break caused by the Crackstone incident ended and they all went back to Nevermore. Classes were back in full force and Weems, who survived the attempt on her life, was even more careful and strict about her rules. And Wednesday was hating her stay there nearly as much as when she first arrived. With no new murder mystery and her “mysterious” stalker out of the picture in the first week back, she didn’t really see any reason to stay. Especially when she was now nearly constantly surrounded by the rest of the Nightshades who thought that because she saved the school, which was not her intention as she just wanted to beat Crackstone, they were now friends. Enid and Eugene were the only two she tolerated and still all the others would not take her threats seriously; at least the rest of the school left her alone after someone tried to talk to her and she took out one of her knives on them.
As usual Enid had dragged her to the table with the other pests during lunch, where she took out one of the books Goody told her about in her dreamscape so she could ignore the juvenile talk taking place around her. The only good thing about the whole situation was that this time at least Thorpe wasn’t there to try and win her affection, as if that would ever happen. She did start to pay attention when Enid mentioned something new even to her with her usual excitement.
“Have you guys heard? Apparently we get a new classmate today! A new guy just transferred here after being home schooled and Xavier is showing him around now. I didn’t get to see him, but it seems like he got here alone.”
Wednesday didn’t even stop reading and tried to turn out the others response to this news. She didn’t care about someone new, as they were probably not worth her time. Plus with the fact that Thorpe would be his guide and most probably his roommate, she definitely was not going to talk to this person even if he started to be part of this group that wouldn’t leave her alone.
“Oh! Look! They are coming this way! Xavier must want to introduce him to us!”
“Well, well, he cleans up nicely. And that’s coming from a lesbian here.”
Wednesday was on the verge to roll her eyes at that comment and had no intention to look at the new arrival or even acknowledge him. That was until she heard the cadence of his footsteps and smelt a very familiar scent. She stopped reading but didn’t move her eyes from the book. She couldn’t believe it, he convinced mother and father to send him here too. Oh, she was going to really enjoy this. And while she was having her realization, Xavier had nearly finished introducing everyone to the new student.
“And the last one is-”
“Wednesday Addams as I live and breath. I was sure that you would be in jail or on the run by now.”
The whole quad descended into silence. Everyone was looking at the newcomer with wide shocked eyes. They were all sure that he was about to die, especially when Wednesday got up and started to round the table just to stop in front of him with crossed arms and her usual glare. The new guy was just standing there smiling a bit crazily, with a glint in his eyes that you could see even through the glasses he wore. Everyone was just waiting to see her completely destroy him and the stripped suit he was wearing. But to everyone surprise Wednesday’s lips twitched upwards before she answered.
“Joel Glicker as I die and suffer. We both know that I would never leave behind any trace that could point to me as being the one behind the crime. I would just have to make sure to frame you.”
Everyone just looked on with even more shock when the new guy started laughing loudly in the face of the scariest person they all knew. Wednesday just rolled her eyes, it was the same joke they had been making since that fated summer and he always laughed like it was the first time he was hearing it. They both knew she actually liked the joke too and the way it made him laugh, but that she would never admit to it, as repeating it as many times as she already did was all the admission they both needed. She did need some answer thought, so she glared at him till he stopped laughing and started listening.
“How did you convince mother and father to send you here too? And especially how did you all convince Principal Weems after everything that happened?”
“Oh, convincing Gomez and Morticia was the easiest part. I just told them that if I went here too it would be like we were living the same thing they did, minus the accidental murder. Principal Weems thinks that I’m going to be a good influence on you or at least stop you from killing people. And don’t look at me that way, you didn’t veto this tactic before I used it.”
This time she did roll her eyes; if there was one thing she really did not need was having her parents starting to equate her and Joel’s relationship with theirs even more than they already did. Weems was underestimating her as usual. As if Joel wasn’t totally devoted to her and would anything she asked of him at anytime without ever questioning it. He really was a pathetic man only worth her pity. She looked at the hand he offered and feeling every single eye on her she took it with a smile at his next words.
“I’m so devastated to finally being reunited with you. I could not bare even the thought of having to wait until the summer to see you again, it would have ended up killing me, cara mia.” He leaned down to kiss her hand in the same way he has always seen her father do with her mother’s.
“Oh mon cher, as always you are utterly pathetic. You know that the only one allowed to kill you is me. It seems that I have been a bit too lenient with you when we last saw each other. I will need to have a harder hand from now on.”
They both looked at each other with anticipation in their eyes and crazy smiles on their lips, before Wednesday grabbed his tie and pulled him down into a kiss. His lips were as chapped as she remembered them, not that a lot of time had passed since their last kiss just four weeks earlier. She would never admit it, but she was addicted to the way he kissed her with all the ferocity of wanting to please her, the way his kiss scraped against her softer and colder lips always intentional just because she mentioned once that she preferred his lips this way, how he would always groan when she bit down to draw blood and the way her heart would skip a beat at seeing his teeth stained red when they broke away and he was smiling at her, all the while she could still taste him and could never get enough. They broke apart just to turn toward the scream they both heard.
“What the fuck!? Since when do you even have a boyfriend Wednesday!?”
Thorpe was again being a nuisance to her and now it was even worse as he interrupted her reunion with Joel. Turning towards him and the table with the other Nightshades that were still looking at them in shock, she never let go of Joel’s tie, kind of using it as a leash to keep him close while his arms just went around her waist to hold her from behind with his face leaning down next to hers over her shoulder. She rolled her eyes when she saw at least one person faint and basically everyone getting even more shocked at the fact that she was being held.
“He is not my boyfriend, but if what you want to know is how long we have been a couple that would be six years and a half.”
Everyone was just even more confused now, but the only one with enough courage to ask what everyone was thinking was obviously Enid.
“Ehm, Wednesday, how could he not be your boyfriend if you just said that you are a couple? And how come did you never tell me that you were with someone!? I’m your bestie and roomie, I should be the first one you told!”
Wednesday felt Joel slightly chuckle at her back, definitely remembering everything she told him about Enid and enjoying even more the torment she had to go through. She rolled her eyes at her partner before looking Enid in the eyes and answering her.
“It’s very simple Enid. He can not be my boyfriend because he is my husband.”
The silence that followed was even more pronounced that before. She should actually start counting as it looked like she was making a new record fro how many times and how many people at once she could make speechless. Joel for his part just smiled at his partner’s joy in causing drama in any situation.
“WHAT!? You are married!?”
Wednesday was really starting to enjoy herself. She head at least another two people faint and the majority breaking the silence with incredulous comments. Her lips turned up in a slight smirk and while she was deciding if she should answer her roommate now or let her stew a bit, Joel decided to answer for them both while chuckling.
“Technically no, not yet. Gomez and Morticia won’t let us get legally married till we are both of age sadly, but I have been considered her husband by her family for years at this point. Gomez is always trying to make me call him dad and Morticia always introduce me as her son-in-law; it’s really just a matter of waiting another couple of years when we are both eighteen and we can sign a couple of papers to make it ‘legal’.”
Wednesday huffed minutely at his explanation, crossing one arm and pulling on his tie a bit with the other, all the while he just smiled crookedly at her. They were getting lost in their silent communication like always when Thorpe decided to open his mouth again.
“Wow, just wow Wednesday. Does he know that you stringed me along till now? Does your husband know about what you had with Tyler? Cause I didn’t really take you for someone who would cheat on their partner!”
He tried to make himself look bigger by straightening his back and crossing his arms, like he was the one in the right. Wednesday’s eyes became ice cold and her psychic powers, feeding on her mounting anger, made the whole quad cold and everyone felt a shiver going down their back. Enid looked worriedly between the three and gulped when she saw the laser focus Joel had on Xavier, knowing he just said the wrong thing and most probably he just signed his death. Wednesday tightened her grip on the tie before answering.
“First of all, I have repeatedly said that I was not interested in any kind of relationship with you and with anyone else since I arrived here; second I said multiple times that no, I did not want to spend time with you to ‘get to know each other better’ as you always put it; third you are the one who would not take no for an answer and the only reason that you are still alive is that you did not touch me, otherwise you would still be breathing. And-”
“He did what Wednesday?”
Joel’s voice was the coldest anyone has ever heard, his focus even more pronounced and his eyes were filling with a rage that was slowing become hotter and hotter. Wednesday let go of his tie, letting him straighten to his full height that left him slightly taller than Thorpe. His face was harder than Wednesday’s usual expression and everyone just realized that between the two, he was the scariest one. Thorpe only had time to blink before Joel was lifting him by his collar, making it hard to breath and being forced to listen closely to what he was about to tell him.
“You listen to me and you listen well Thorpe. If you ever try to talk to my wife, if you even just ever look in her direction, hell if you even just think again about her, you are a dead man. You already are a pathetic excuse for a man if you don’t immediately stop after a woman tells you no, but this time you did it with the wrong one. And if I ever hear from anyone that you forced your attention on someone even after being told to leave them alone, you will be begging me to kill you. Are we clear?”
Thorpe could only nod frantically and only them did Joel let him go, just to watch him cough before running away with fear in his eyes. Turning towards Wednesday, he found her looking at him with pride and affection, even if for anyone else she appeared the same as always. Walking back towards her he offered his hand again and brought her knuckles to his mouth when she accepted his touch, kissing them one at time while asking with his eyes if she was okay. She nodded minutely before turning towards Enid when she heard her start talking.
“Well, that was really something. I really hope he will stop bothering Bianca too after this. And not to offend you Wednesday, but, and I am pretty sure everyone will agree with meat least in their mind, your husband is way scarier than you. Like, by a lot. I didn’t even see him move!”
Wednesday didn’t answer her friend, instead she turned towards Joel, looking up at him with all the pride and love she felt for him and only him. He replied the intensity of the look with his own, leaning down to whisper in her ear so only she could hear.
“Well, shall we cara mia?”
Wednesday smirked and took hold of his tie again, starting to walk away with him following behind.
“Oh mon cher, we shall.”
