Work Text:
It was 2:41 am. You and Leon slept in bed. Surprisingly, the evening was good. You had dinner, took a bath and watched a movie together. And after a series of stupid kisses, they finally went to bed. These evenings were not such a frequent occurrence, and rather, were considered an expensive pleasure for both of you. But unfortunately, such moments always spoiled something. Either Leon's work or your nightmares. And neither of the two options you liked. Right now you got out of bed to drink water. When you removed Leon's hand from you, he groaned softly and rolled onto his stomach, hugging the pillow. You chuckled and wanted to stroke his hair, but refused. She was afraid to wake him up. You put on your slippers and went to the kitchen. You close the bedroom door and now head down the dark hallway. Trying not to touch the furniture. When you reach the kitchen, you hear a soft grinding from the hallway you came from. Trying not to pay attention, you take a glass cup out of the drawer and fill it with water from a carafe. You raise the glass to your mouth and are about to drink, when you hear the grinding again. "Mice?" you ask softly as you stare into the darkness. When you start drinking, you hear a thud on the floor. You push the glass away and quickly turn on the light above the stove. "Who is there?" You ask a little louder than a whisper. No answer. You grip the glass tighter and hold on to the edge of the kitchen counter. "Leon?.." Again there is no answer. You hear someone wheezing approaching you from a dark corridor. You quickly turn away. "It's all unreal... It's just hallucinations... It's all unreal..." You quickly pull the glass to your lips with shaking hands to take a sip, but when the liquid mass turns into a thick one on your lips, you quickly put the glass down on the rack and look at its contents.
Vomiting.
You see a red mass in front of you. You can feel it on your lips, just like honey. You quickly try to wipe your lips with your hand, but something grabs your leg. Something cold and so... Familiar... You scream as you turn and look down. What you see makes you cry. The creature drags its hands up your leg, scratching at the skin on your legs. You grab a glass and throw it at him. Starting to run, you fall sharply to the floor. You scream and kick the creature. Then you turn to him and crawl back. You step back behind the bar and crawl backwards, breathing heavily. With sobs. The leg is on fire. Ringing of the heartbeat in the ears. Why is it with you again? You're on medication... You're pulled out of your thoughts by a hug from your back. You struggle trying to get out and scream. But Leon's voice brings you to your senses.
"It's okay, I'm here. Tssh..." He strokes your shoulder with his free hand as he kisses the top of your head.
You quickly turn to him and hug him tightly as you cry into his shoulder. "Me again... Mom... She again..." The words become unintelligible. Coughs and sobs shake the kitchen. Leon tries to calm you down, but realizing that this is not working, he takes you in his arms and carries you into the hall. He turns on the light and puts you in a chair. You tremble and hold on to your hair. When the man arrives, he is holding bandages, a towel with alcohol, and a glass of water. Please note, another glass. He will clean the glass in the kitchen later, or you, if you get up earlier than him. Who knows .. All this lies on a glass table near the sofa. Leon sits down with you on the couch and invites you to his side. You hug him tighter and cry into your chest. He kisses on the head, shoulder, neck, forehead and cheeks. Stroking you and slowly rocking you. Talks to you. When you start to calm down, you move away to reach out with water, but you stop.
"Honey, it's easy. I'll watch while you drink." Leon pats his shoulders soothingly. Trusting him, you reach out your hand and slowly drink. His gaze is focused on the water, and when you finish drinking, his gaze focuses on you. You put down the glass and hug him again. It was quiet, except for the sniff of your nose. After an indeterminate amount of time, you break the silence. "I have to go..."
Leon's voice does not keep you waiting. "We've talked many times.. I've said a lot.. You're not going there."
You take your head off his shoulder and meet his gaze. "I can't take it anymore... I have to go there... It's just..."
His voice is neither loud nor angry, but confident. "You know what kind of city this is. And it's so dangerous.."
"Please trust me..." Your voice was more like a plea. Then Leon gave up. He couldn't stand your nightmares any longer, couldn't stand your suffering from hallucinations. Or the way you self-mutilated, thinking that they were terrible creatures that originated in the back of your mind. But he couldn't let you go. And he was afraid that you have a connection to an ordinary city in which fires occur underground until today.
"Okay.. We'll ride together.. Now let's treat your wound.." he kisses you on the lips before lifting you off his lap and placing you on the couch. Tonight, when you both lie back in bed and fall asleep as usual, you will make your fatal mistake. Gather quietly. Put the money and phone in a small bag, take your car keys and leave a note on the kitchen table.
“Hello my love, if you are reading this, then I am on my way to Silent Hill. I beg you, don't come with me. I assure you I won't get in trouble. I'll text you when I get there. Love you."
You lock the house with a key and walk to the driveway. You get in the car and start it. You look out the bedroom window for the last time and drive away. Several hours passed. It's still night, but it'll be light soon. You see the sign. So turn left ... Without hesitation, turn there and go. You go and you go. You can see the fence ahead. You drive up and stop. When you get out of the car, look at the bars. You can't open it.. "That won't stop me.. Yes?" The uncertainty in your voice is obvious. You get into the car and drive back. Stop and look at the grate. "I can..." Silence. "I can do it..." Silence again. Taking air into your lungs, you press on the gas. When the barrier was demolished, a sense of anxiety and calm settled in you at the same time. Now there is no way back. You reach for the phone. You must write to Leon. You take out your phone and type to it that everything is in order and you will soon be in the city. You put your phone in the glove box. You look ahead and see a woman. You turn the car around and slam on the brakes. Does the figure on the road move on or disappear? It doesn't matter, because you're already unconscious. When you open your eyes, everything is in a fog. Everything is so white... And... Is it snow? It doesn't look like... You take out your phone from the glove compartment. You get out of the car, slowly, because you have very little strength .. You see a lot of missed calls and messages. You call Leon. Beeps, and then beeps again.
"/// Are you okay? Why didn't you pick up the phone!?" His voice is loud. "Where are you? I'm on my way."
You stand still and look around. "I... It's so light in here.." Leon is surprised.
"Light? What are you talking about? It's just beginning to get light."
Now your voice is static. "It's bright and foggy here. I also had a small accident, but the car is intact.. I feel like I'm dizzy..."
Leon clicks. "Damn... You're lost. Listen. Wait for me, okay? Wait." Lennon says desperately.
"What are you saying? I can't hear you well... I'll look for help.. Right down the road... I love you." Then you drop the call.
"/// Hello? Hello? Damn!..." Leon drops the phone on the seat.
You put your phone in your pocket and look ahead. A difficult path awaits you... You are heading into the depths of the fog. From now on, your life will be hell. Leon, with firmness, tell the police to let him go to the city. Then he and the policeman will go there. He will look for you everywhere, but you are not there. As if the trace has caught a cold. No car, no you. And instead of a voice on the phone, interference. Surprisingly, the signal is in the city. The signal is weak, and where you are not and should not be. Now the nightmares have come true. All your sins and fears will play a very terrible joke on you.
