Final Breath: Determination

Summary:

This is the final moments of a man who had a whole future ahead, a future that though clouded with pain, remorse and suffering would- no, should be filled with warmth, family, love and opportunities.
Sadly, life is woefully unexpected.
Join us in this short yet sad view of those final moments.

Notes:

Hello! (⌒∇⌒)/This is my first time writing anything like this and actually publishing it, thus any advice please do share with me. This one-shot is mostly from my memory of the events so apologies if it isn't perfect, but i hope you all enjoy it. (Also ao3 kept insisting on block paragraphs and almost no paragraph break, but i hope this doesn't disturb your reading).

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

As you stare at the young boys’ burgundy eyes, you remember why you are here, why you fight day and night and why you are alive. You are filled with fiery determination and thought you know you’re dead has been sealed by the demon; you refuse to give up. You will not let your training, your friend’s passions and ambitions and hopes be destroyed. Not if you can help it. You hold on for as long as you can, ignoring how everything in you screams at you to stop, you will not give up.

After the battle, the smell of smoke and morning swift through the air as so does the awful iron smell of blood, though fatally wounded, you had managed to win this fight and save the people you care about. As the young, determined boy with burgundy eyes yells for vengeance you stare at him with surprise at first, and soon feel your heart filling with respect, happiness, and most of all.
Satisfaction.
You feel terrible pain, yet you can help but feel satisfied. You had managed to protect the hopes for the future, you do feel terribly saddened you won’t be there to accompany them, you will do so in spirit, and you will gaze at them with pride whilst you wait for them, though hopefully they won’t join you for a long time to come. Once you tell the young boys your hopes for them and the messages for your dear family, you see your mother waiting for you with a smile. "Did I make you proud, mother? Have I done well?” You thought with tears streaming down your face as you felt your body slowly collapse on you. And just from your mother’s smile, you already know the answer.

And then, you took your final breath with a gentle smile.

Notes:

So, did you enjoy it? I hope so! I believe that when you put yourself in the shoes of other, you understand them more. I wanted this story to be First point of view because i wanted to convey the emotions i felt when watching the train arc. I felt heartbroken when he died and constantly keep thinking back to him and how he deserved to live. But maybe this helps us appreciate him more, because of him being taken away from us to soon. Anyways, enough of my rant. Please, do comment your thoughts if you'd like and hey, maybe ill make this longer or even write another work in the future. Welp, peace out! ヾ(^ ∇ ^).
