For BSD fluff week 2023 Day 5 “The Sky is Lovely Tonight.”

Notes:

Hello hello. I don’t really write this ship often in my spare time so hopefully I did them justice and wrote them well enough.

Either way I hope you enjoy this sappy fluff!

Work Text:

Chuuya sighed as he laid down on his bed. Picking up his phone from where it was lying next to him, he glanced at the time. It was 23:00, a good time to get some sleep. Though it would most likely be a quick nap, considering he still had work to do. Chuuya had finished his paperwork for the day early so he could finally lay down for a bit.

Maybe I can get proper sleep for once. Chuuya laughed out loud at the thought.

That was a rare occurrence these days; more work kept getting piled up on him after the cannibalism incident was over. He kept having sleepless nights where he would do nothing but work and have meetings.

Chuuya sighed as he stared up at the ceiling. I could just sleep here and not move for a while longer. Maybe I could go for a ride on my motorcycle. Since I have the time. But sleep is more important.

Closing his eyes, he let out a content sigh when suddenly his phone started ringing.

His eyes snapped open, “I swear to god what the hell am I needed for now!” He snapped out. “Give me some peace god damnit.” he muttered as he picked up his phone. Looking at the contact, he noticed it was Dazai. Somehow, he still remembered Chuuya’s personal phone number from when they were 15. Before they started dating, Dazai barely even called him. Maybe for important missions but that was all. When they started to date, he wanted Dazai to keep it out of his phone so no one would get his number. Considering how good Dazai’s memory was, it wasn’t too hard of a task for him.

He pressed the answer button and put the phone up to his ear. “Dazai, what the hell do you need? Unless it's actually important, I do want to sleep tonight.” He snapped. It was rude, yes, but Chuuya was too tired to care.

“Not even a hello? Sigh, I wonder where I went wrong in my taste.” Dazai answered dramatically.

“Just tell me what you need.” Chuuya groaned out.

“Fine, fine. There's a spot I want to show you. It's beautiful out here tonight, I think you'll like it. I'll send you the address and I'll meet you there in about forty five minutes.” Dazai asked, more like demanded. With that tone he didn't really leave room for Chuuya to deny him.

Chuuya sighed. “Yeah I'll be there, bye.” Chuuya hung up the phone and sat up. Checking his phone, Dazai sent him an address that was across the city from where Chuuya lived. It was right next to a beach from what Chuuyas gps showed. Thank god I didn't change, it'll take me forty five minutes to get there.

He stood up and stretched. Running a hand through his hair he started to move around his room. He grabbed his hat and other essentials from his nightstand and went to his garage and pulled out his bike. Rolling it out to his driveway, he started it up. Checking the location one more time, he made his way over to where Dazai wanted him to go. He knew the city well enough to where he didn’t need a gps.

Pulling out of his driveway, he started to drive down the rocky road he lived on. As he left and the trees allowed him to see the night. He agreed with Dazai, it really was beautiful that night. As he drove through the bigger roads, traffic wasn't that bad and there weren't many people out and about. The sky was full of stars, even though some of them were covered by the big city buildings.

I really do love this city. Even with its fucked up flaws. It’s my home and will always be.

Chuuya smiled as he drove through the city. He’d finally get a moment of peace after all that’s been happening.

Arriving around the location Dazai sent him, Chuuya walked around next to his bike to find a place to put it. He was in an area full of warehouses for the many stores in the area. Some were for the Port Mafia as well. Looking down at his phone, he still had to walk a bit to get to the location. Rolling his bike next to him, he walked behind the many buildings until his phone showed that he was in the correct place. Looking up, Chuuya noticed Dazai on a roof.

Setting his bike down with the kickstand, he jumped up to the roof with his ability.

“Mackerel.” Chuuya greets. “What did you need me here for?”

Dazai looks over to him and smiles. Patting down the spot next to him as a way to invite Chuuya to sit next to him.

Chuuya sat down next to Dazai and looked up at the sky. Without the city lights and buildings covering up the sky, it really was beautiful that night. Chuuya didn’t even grumble curses or anything. It was hard to get peace within the Port Mafia. The constant fear that someone would poison you or you’d get killed on the job. The amount of death you would cause and see. It wasn’t easy. Looking up at the night sky though. It made it all worth it.

There was a comfortable silence between them as they enjoyed the view together. Chuuya wrapped his arm around Dazai, letting his hand hold onto his shoulder opposite of Chuuya.

“You're right, it really is pretty. I haven't had a chance to see the stars in a while.” Chuuya muttered, not wanting to break the silence. “Things have been so busy lately we haven't had the time to spend together.”

“Mori keeping you busy eh? I’m doing great over here at the agency if i'll be honest. We already took care of our work.” Dazai answered, laughing a bit.

Chuuya frowned. “I'm not going to the agency. The port mafia is my family like how the agency is yours.”

“Yeah I know, as much as I hate the port mafia, I understand. But let's not focus on that.” Dazai whispered. He leaned into Chuuya’s shoulder. A rare thing considering how much Dazai hated touch.

Before Chuuya knew it, Dazai was pretty much all over him. Dazai’s head was on his shoulder while he was being side hugged. Though it was more of Dazai half being on his lap like a cat.

Chuuya looked at Dazai and smiled. “You look so pretty at night,” he muttered. “You match up with the moon and stars so well. Not even an artist could cause your beauty.”

“Have you seen yourself in front of a sunset?” Dazai replied. “No matter how many times I see you in front of a sunset, it feels like I fell in love with you all over again. The sky is lovely, yet you are so much more.”

Chuuyas face went beet red at Dazai’s comment. “Sappy idot.” was all he could mutter.

“Do you want to head back to my place? I can tell you'll refuse to detach yourself from me and I need sleep. I’ll drop you off halfway tomorrow.” Chuuya asked.

Dazai nodded in Chuuya’s shoulder. “But I don’t wanna leave.” Dazai whined. Chuuya sighed. “You can cuddle me at home. Get all over me like some cat or something.”

In the end they both got up and left the roof. Though Chuuya basically had to drag Dazai up. After leaving the roof, they went over to Chuuya’s motorcycle.

“It'll take a while to get there so dont go falling asleep on me. I don't want to deal with you falling off my bike.”

Dazai nodded, he didn't make any silly response. As much as i would like to say that's the reason he's quiet, he's just tired. Even more than usual. It could be something with Oda, he still misses him to this day.

After a few minutes of walking, they reached the road where they could drive home. Making sure Dazai was alright, Chuuya started up the vehicle and started to drive back.

Chuuya pulled up to his driveway and parked his bike. Getting off it, he noticed Dazai had walked through the door to his house.

He really is tired then. He barely acts like this. By this point he would be all over me trying to argue with me.

Shaking his head, Chuuya closed and locked his garage. Taking off his shoes, he went into his kitchen and grabbed a glass of water. Dazai would most likely be asleep when he walked in so there wasn’t a point in getting him a glass of water.

Entering his room, Dazai had taken off his trench coat, bolo tie and shoes and was already in Chuuya’s bed under the covers. It was thrown off in a rush it seemed. He’d deal with it later.

He took off his own coat and put his hat on his nightstand. He laid himself under the covers and gave a content sigh.

Turning to his side, he wrapped his arms around Dazai and laid his face on his chest. He missed this, they barely got to see each other and when they did it was usually quick or for a mission. It was nice.

He felt Dazai’s arms wrap around him in a soft hold. Slowly, as time went on their bodies got closer and the bed wasn’t as cold anymore. Both their combined body heat let them both relax in the warmth. Chuuya could be with someone that night and sleep well.

The sky was lovely that night, but not as lovely as Dazai.
