Another day, another fight, and another stray from the possibility of being whole.
It was now the dead of night, about 2 am to be exact. Can he even consider it as night, as the headspace rarely proves to have any form of a sky or galaxy beyond? Atlas was in their room, hearing both Mind's clock-like eye tick rhythmically and Heart's soft whines through the wall. Looking down from his desk, Darrell, his prized chicken, was sleeping on a pile of clothes that the Soul had neglected to put away.
Looking back at the clock, tired and unfocused, the Soul began to look back.
He wondered why Heart and Mind just switched on each other after a while. Despite all of the loops he had been in, all of the fights he had to calm or intervene, all of the calamities and concords that proved their then friendship, Soul had never figured out entirely why the pair just fought.
Honestly, they just assumed that the two got bored of each other. I mean, it was apparent in the way that; during calamity, Apollo would begin to slowly get irritated by Artemis and his emotions/ sensitivity, while Artemis would get frustrated at Apollo's lack of emotions/ emotional sense. They were meant to be opposites anyway….
And with this building sense of frustration and hatred, the incident occurred; you know, where Juno shot at the sun. Soul could never forget how late he was to find them, regretting the scene he was forced to see.
The horrified look of the emotionless automaton, and the look of sheer guilt mixed with a form of insanity on the emotional creature, had really done a number on the host's mentality.
Though, ever since that loop, the Soul has been more watchful and vigilant. Keeping a closer, and somewhat more noticable, eye on the two. While this has helped in the long run; the Soul preventing the death of one or the other 99% of times, the incident and the loops were reoccurring, and the stars were beginning to dim with each repeat.
Snapping out of his trance, Atlas looked up to the pitiful 'sky', dark only w/ light from dimming sources, and heard a crash from the living room. Sighing to himself, the Soul quietly opens his bedroom door and heads down the hall to the living room.
Reaching their destination, Soul saw Heart, who was seemingly crying while sweeping up some glass. Now, despite the Soul HATING the others for constantly fighting, they were all technically brothers, and Soul may or may not have a soft spot for both his older and younger brother.
{Do you need help, moonlight?}, the stars ask, walking up to the moon and putting their hand on his shoulder.
(N-no), the moon muttered out, (but can I get help w/ my wings, t-they're bruised in the back, where I can't care for it)
Oh yeah, Soul nearly forgot the fight Heart and Mind recently had. It wasn't too bad, not nearly as bad as the aforementioned incident, but bad enough that it left some marks on both of them.
–flashback to earlier in the day-
Standing in the doorway of the living room, the hollow vessel had seen its emotional and unemotional halves physically fighting, yelling insults at each other for Harmonia knows why.
Summoning their trident, the powerful red glow and the loud hum of the object caused the halves to stop in their tracks. Turning to look at Soul, the embodiment of their whole's heart and mind quickly tore apart from the other, scampering to be at least a couple of feet from each other.
Observing the scene, the Heart had some bruises and scratches littering his face and wings, as well as some cuts on his sweater. His mental state seemed, well, emotional. Like usual, he was beginning to cry and had already started shaking.
The Mind, despite the Heart's near-blindness, seemed to get the worse end of the fight. Bloody nose, black eye, and some bite marks littering his arms, Soul was almost impressed. Mind seemed more annoyed and irritated at Heart, considering the marks that littered his body, he might even consider going for a round 2.
{What-}
As soon as he spoke, the halves went into a frenzy, trying to talk over the other and convince Soul that the other was at fault. ([It's Heart's/Mind's fault, it- *continued bickering*]). Or something along those lines, the Soul could honestly care less.
{Listen– SHUT UP!}, the two stopped speaking, {If you two don't stop fighting, I'll forcibly entwine you both the next time any type of fighting happens.}
The two were shocked, to say the least, not expecting the Soul to go that far.
{Just- just leave} muttered Soul, with Heart and Mind complying. Leaving to their separate rooms.
-end flashback-
Soul did feel slightly bad for threatening entwinement to the two, though it was the only thing he could come up with in that moment. They do admit, it did get them to stop fighting–
(Soul…Soul!…SOUL!) The moon whisper-yelled.
{What?! What happened?} The stars responded, confused and a little worried.
(Sorry Soul, but you were staring at the wall for a good 4 or 5 minutes.), the moon replied back, (are you okay, you should lie down.)
The stars were surprised at this, noticing that Heart had calmed down and finished cleaning up the glass.
{Y-yeah I'm ok, let's just take care of your wings}
The stars took the moon's hands into his and walked to the bathroom. While the moon isn't completely blind, his vision is just immensely bad, and he has wings, making him more prone to breaking more photos that are hung up on the walls.
Sitting the moon down, who begins to take off his hoodie / undershirt, Soul looks for the med kit. Eventually finding it and removing the bandages from it.
Turning Heart around, so his back faces the Soul, Soul looks over the Heart's injuries. Soul had eventually deemed them to be not too bad, there were a couple of bruises, but they'll go away in 2 or 3 days.
Once Soul had finished wrapping Heart's wings, and Heart reput his clothes on, Soul turned Heart so the latter was looking at the former.
{Heart}, Soul asked, {why were you up?}
Heart hesitated before responding.
(I had a nightmare), taking a breath, (and I was going to make some tea when I knocked down the picture)
{What was it about?} Soul didn't care for the picture, just making sure if Heart was ok.
(...I'd prefer to keep it to myself, sorry..)
{It's ok, don't worry. Do you want to sleep in my room?}
Heart had smiled at that offer, telling Soul that he would like that.
Soul knew that Heart would like it, knowing that the emotional man dislikes being alone after nightmares happened.
So there the two were, quietly off to Soul's room, as to not wake up Mind. In said room, the two quietly spoke, played with Darrell; who was upset at his beauty sleep being disrupted, and eventually crashed at like 4 am.
