I don't own reign.
Prologue
A young king watched and looked at the woman who taught him everything he needed to be Scotland's King. The older woman looked from the hills to the green fields of her beloved country.
It truly has been so long to have peace between two great nations.
"What doth wished to speak to me of, my king?" The older woman with a cane looked bored and weary.
"I am to go to England." The King spoke and then added, "Privately. As you suggested."
"Yes, to speak with Queen Elizabeth. I hear she is on her deathbed now." She walked slowly with her cane, tapping on the floors as a young lady in waiting guided her mistress to the chair.
"Aye, my lady aunt, Meg."
This woman is Margaret Stuart, Countess of Galloway, daughter of King James V and Lady Catherine Macleod.
She laughed softly and said, "They said she and I were the women truly beyond the lands. I like to admit now that Queen Elizabeth and I were the same. We both struggle and fight our way to power by surviving this cruel and lonely world of royalties. Bastards, they called us. Now it is 'Your grace' or 'princess.' Remember my King, they said Kings were born in the makings, but it is the queens who shape nations. Understand?"
Before he could say anything, a violent coughing fit attacked her. "KOFF! KOOF!"
She grabbed a handkerchief to cover her mouth, and the only lady in waiting, Jane and her granddaughter to her long-time friend, quickly went to her side.
King James was about to go to her, but she waved off.
"No, my King. Tis' nothing. Just a coughing fit, nothing more." The King is not convinced, but she stubbornly orders him. "Go on! The people wanted too long for a king to arrive in England. I will be here resting and will meet there soon."
King James VI and now I of England swiftly left, but he quickly returned to kiss this woman on her cheek as if he was her son's affection for a mother.
She giggles and says, "Still breaking hearts, are you?"
He laughs and bows before leaving.
The old smile left her as she looked at her used handkerchief. She found blood on them. "Jane. I fear I won't see England at all."
Jane gasped and looked at the handkerchief.
"Get rid of this, will you?" She orders Jane as she takes her bloodied handkerchief and throws it into the fire inside the fireplace.
"I must hurry and get my things to prepare." Jane quickly gathered papers and quills with ink on the board. At the same time, the old lady of the household prepares to be undressed and confides herself to her bed.
Jane came forward and presented Lady Stewart with her nightdress. She dresses up her mistress and leads her towards the bed to be confided. Warping her in the warmest wool and fabrics as it was getting too cold for her ladyship.
Jane then turns away to get the papers and ink opened with a pen quill feather settled on the hardboard for her to write.
Lady Margaret is truly amazed at how she outlived everyone and is now preparing herself to die.
First things first, she must display the inheritances to her children and grandchildren as well manner of the estate.
When all that is said and done. She decided to make her one page to write her last confession.
She prays to god and Jesus that James will forgive her.
She decided to write her only confession.
The confession that she had played the role that brought the downfall of his mother and her half-sister, Mary Queen of Scots.

I don't own Reign.
Chapter 1
Forty-five years ago….
The forest of Scotland is filled with birds, and critters all around, and the land itself is peaceful.
NREGH!
A stomping hoof onto the grounds as a hunting party is taking a tour of the lands.
Her lands.
A young beautiful brunette woman gave a 'Hyiah!' for her stallion to run faster. She loves it. She knew how to make this a thrilling activity for their sports.
Quickly she orders her deerhounds to chase their stag. WOOF! WOOF!
The woman laughed as she ran her horse faster. The rest of the groomsmen and fellow knights have a hard time keeping up with her on their horse.
Quickly target at sight. She wipes out her bow and arrow to aim at the stag.
What seems to be a slow movement. She released her arrow and it aimed toward its neck.
Stag whines in pain as it collapses to the ground by the river. Her dogs ran and barked at the stag by the river.
BARK! BARK!
She reigns her horse to slow down. She patted her stud in good gestures.
"Good ole' Robert the Bruce. It seems my ancestor wished to honor me with his stag." She comments and rejoices in her ancestor's name.
She went to the rivers where her dogs are barking and growling. She jumped down from her horse and went to the stag.
"Hey!" She whistles her hunting dogs and gestures with a signal. "Enough, enough. Hold down, my boys."
All her dogs ceased their barks but they growl for a bit. The lady of noble birth noticed something different about this prey.
The stag has bigger antlers. No doubt this is the prince of the forest.
"Praise to you, prince of the forest. For the opportunity, to end your suffering and your venison shall be honor and feast for my household." She took a knife and slit its throat. She petted it gently out of kindness and respect.
"My lady." Her knight, Sir Anthony Stewart came with sweats and panting.
"You look like you just come back from war." She bluntly said to him which the knight smiled. "With you riding like a maniac, I rather go back to war."
She loudly laughs as other men in her hunting party laugh as well. "You say maniac. I say I rode like a Scotswoman."
The men cheered as Sir Anthony bowed his head in good gestures.
"Bring the stag it looks like we have a feast for all of my household."
The men cheered even more. As two strong men came to lift the Stag.
"Let's go back to Galloway Halls."
All of them pack and rode their horse back to her household.
The servants there waiting on her and the children with an older gentleman.
"My lady," He greeted her with a kiss on her hand.
"My Lord," She smiled. She looked at her daughters and infant son. Whom she named James. She kissed her son's forehead and hugged all her daughters.
They walked into the halls.
"I need to tell you something important." The count said to her.
"What is it?"
"It is Mary, Queen of Scots." Margaret sighs as she sends her nurse to take all her children to the nursery rooms.
Inside his studies…
"You mean she is coming back?!" She hissed at that thought.
She read letters from her older half-brother that Mary is coming back since France no longer wants Mary as the second wife to the new king of France, Charles.
'Suppose that means they want a pure noble girl into the new marriage.'
"My love," Count said to her.
"You know that she has never been in Scotland for years," Margaret confirmed her facts.
"She was born here, my lady."
"As an infant!" Margaret then added, "Scotland won't accept her. She will bring all the French luxuries. Her version of courtly life is like she did in France. You do know the protestants Lord hasn't forgiven her mother, Mary of Guise of taking all good noble lords of their lands and titles."
Henry grew quiet. What many people failed to realize is that Scots are not like other people of Europe.
Scots lords are the symbol of duty, honor, and bloodlines. Take away any man's titles unlawfully, they will not forgive the slights of their ancestors.\
Mary of Guise failed to realize that. Religions, bah! Who is to say which one is right and which one is wrong?
In his philosophy, all religion has the purpose to people to bring their relationship with God who no doubt had many names for a reason.
Margaret was lucky to have hidden their true faith as a protestant and her husband was too of Protestant faith during the regent queen's reign. Mary of Guise would be loved to have her head if she did find out.
"If we bring our blood relationship towards the queen of Scots, other lords will follow us," Henry suggested it.
Margaret shakes her head in denial, "You know little of what she will do. When I see her, all I could see is Mary of Guise. And that is not a good compliment. She doesn't even know what her mother has done. Or the horrors of fear that she wants my head."
It was bad enough that King James V of Scotland has mistresses, but Margaret's mother was someone whom the king loved and showered affection front of his legal wife.
When her mother died and Margaret was left alone in the world. King James brought her to court.
James even brought her up himself to raise her personally and gave her the title Viscountess of Macleod as her mother's only true heir since her untimely death and her mother's maternal families were traitors who were beheaded and executed.
Since she was sought out by many suitors as the Kings' favorite and recognized illegitimate daughter of a king. She was a real catch.
Mary of Guise hated her and tried to marry her off to French nobles which disgusted her. Instead, she caught the eye of Count of Galloway. Henry Stewart was a fellow kinsman but from the lower branch of their family tree.
He was a clever man who needed someone of rank and wealth to boost up. And what does he have for Margaret?
Well…
He has the men and swords to lay their lives for their Lord and the ambition to rise to positions of court. She convinced her father that Count of Galloway would make a good husband.
For he has no children, and she is a young woman to bear him many.
King James doesn't have the heart to say no to his favorite eldest daughter. And Count of Galloway does have lands close to her mother's estate. It would be easier to merge two lands for Count anyway.
So, he decrees that both lands and titles will merge as Count of Calloway as their acres will be merged with her mother's estate and people as one land.
The rising status of one lower branch of the Stewart family is now a rising power and wealth. Not only he is rich and status boosted by his newfound marriage, but he used his positions in court to be the king's inner circle of advisors.
He has enemies in court, but always has friends in high places.
Henry sighs as he remembers how the queen regent dismissed him and his family in court which caused tensions between countrymen, lords, and peasants to wished to rebel against that outrageous French woman. Without his assistance had to cause the queen regent slowly pass away in private.
"My love," Henry walked around and stop his wife's pacing. "Nothing is going to happen to us. We are nobles who served the blood of King James and Mary is catholic yes. But if we convinced her to have protestant allies, she can remain ruler of Scotland."
Margaret took a moment to breathe. "Queen Elizabeth is not going to stay silent. No doubt that she will see this as a threat."
Henry answered, "Not unless, Mary renounced her claim to the English, Scotland will not have war."
Margaret nodded and quickly question, "Have you sent word to Queen Elizabeth?"
Henry firmly nodded. "Yes, with our proposal to convince Mary to renounce her claim. Scotland and England will remain friends."
Margaret nodded firmly.
Edinburgh
Mary returned to her home and lived in the Palace in Edinburgh.
Mary Queen of Scots had managed to escape the assassins with her half-brother, James at her side. She is ready to face off against any enemies.
"James will our sister, Margaret is coming as well. I haven't seen nor heard of her, but…" Mary has been hearing stories about her other half-sister. Her lady mother never likes to talk about her other than her father, King James believes she is an angel in his eyes that cannot do any wrong.
"Our sister Margaret is married and is known as Countess of Galloway and her husband was once King James V's inner circle and advisors. He was dismissed by your mother, the queen regent and that was when things get messy of the poor choices she made." James gave Mary an honest answer.
He recalls many Scotsmen were furies and angry some even left because Henry Stewart's dismissal of counsel was unjustified.
Everyone heard that Mary of Guise was a jealous woman and see Henry Stewart and Margaret being in a better light instead of herself the queen regent.
It causes endless rebellion and plots against the stubborn woman who refused to admit she was wrong to dismiss Count of Galloway.
"Poor choices?" Mary felt provoked by it. "I can understand that many subjects don't agree with their sovereigns from time to time."
"It is not that Mary. It is that since the death of your mother, I had welcomed them back in court to help me with the clans and religion's prospects. Also, our sister is not our ally. She is on Queen Elizabeth's side since she would travel back and forth in the English court."
Mary gasped in shock. Her blood is either against her or for her.
'Why is she allied against my worst enemy?" Mary is furious. Is she going to be betrayed by those who are close to her?
"Look," James defends Margaret. "Scotland was a mess, and you were gone as your mother is dead. We were suffering attacks from enemies from all sides. We were losing a fight. Margaret volunteered to go be a hostage in Queen Elizabeth's court. Instead, of being seen as an enemy. She was treated as an honorable guest as our father recognized her as the daughter of a king. I don't know what happened to her time at court, but our reports and stories said, that they treated each other as if they were blood sisters. Margaret convinced Queen Elizabeth to cease her attacks on Scotland. Margaret helped save Scotland from being taken by the Englishmen."
Mary is stunned. She cannot recall what happened nor received letters about it.
"I…I didn't know that." She stuttered about it.
"Mary, as queen you need to have her on your side. Everyone in Scotland respects Margaret too much. You need her backing." James advised her.
Mary thought back.
Compare to Mary she failed the alliance with France. Margaret did a better job in keeping Scotland away from anyone's hands.
"Then as queen of Scotland, I must write to invite Margaret to come to court as my lady-in-waiting." Mary paused her walk and added, "See to it that her husband has a place in court. Perhaps as the advisor again."
A few days later…
James came with bad news.
"What? She cannot come to court." Mary orders the reason.
James said, "She has a prior engagement that she cannot ignore."
"What prior engagement?" Mary was indecorous about it.
"As you know, her mother's lands and the estate is merged with Count of Galloway. So, you have to forgive her that she has to make sure her lands are in great care." James explained to Mary that since for a count, Lord Henry Stewart is the wealthiest man in Scotland.
Mary stood silent. She wanted to be angry, but perhaps she is too hasty. After all, Scotland is different than France, and everyone needs to protect their lands from others.
'Maybe just this once.'
"Of course, it is natural for Countess to make sure her lands are in safer hands."
What Mary did not realize is that Countess went to her mother's estate to talk to her fellow protestant Lords about what to do with Mary Queen of Scots.
It is their private meeting that could change everything.
Next Chapter, the Protestants' Lords meeting, Mary may have overplayed her role.
Rhys Ifans plays Henry Stewart, Count of Galloway. Think of him as the appearance of Ser Otto Hightower from House of The Dragon.

Chapter 2
"Times were different my king. I was once a girl forced to grow up as a woman. In our lifetime, every rule became a different game, we noblemen had to play. I knew that Scotland would not welcome a Catholic queen with open arms. I had to become a very powerful woman to protect Scotland from everyone's hands. Even your mother's."
Margaret rode up her horse as she stop a foot off her estate.
She wore the hooded cloak as she looked around as her servants and guards are being extra careful.
The footman came forward and bowed, "Welcome home, princess."
"My thanks, John." She gave her hand as he helped her off the horse. She walked at a fast pace and in a hushed tone, "Are they here?"
John nodded and said, "They are waiting patiently for you, princess."
"Carriages?" She wanted to make sure no one would spread rumors or reports back to Mary Stuart.
"Under the watering bridges where you instructed to follow the passageway under your estate." Margaret simply answers, "Good."
She stopped at the big doors opened.
She looked around at her fellow protestant Lords who kept their true faith a secret from the Queen Regent's ears. Sadly, some lords had already lost their titles due to mistakes they had made, but Margaret always made her estate a haven for all Protestant families to hide here.
She nodded and walked around to go to the head seat table.
"Please be seated." She announced as she took her seat and other lords obeyed her. Margaret looked around her protestant lords.
She spotted two men she can count on as long as they don't betray the deal she made.
Lord Taylor and John Knox were among the powerful men who reform their religion and allies of Margaret. Other Scottish Lords are men with soldiers who can raise an army and wanted freedom of religion.
"Here is what we have done after the dowager queen Mary of Guise, we help build our motherland and freed her from fear of superstitions and old ways after centuries of being bullied by Rome, the Vatican, and the pope himself," Margaret announced the past and what they have done for Scotland.
Many lords said, "Aye." And nodded agreeing with her.
"We made sure that Scotland has not fallen into our country's enemies. Prepared me as a hostage and decided to make friends with Queen Elizabeth as long as we agree that we kept the faith."
Margaret looked around as they all watched and waited.
"However, one person who wears the crown. I fear she will the undoing."
The lords' murmurs and agreement are heard a bit.
"As you all already made aware, Mary Stuart is on the throne again." She looked at her fellow protestant lords.
"No shit," Lord Edward grunted as some chuckles a bit. Margaret ignored it and looked at John Knox and Lord Taylor with puzzled looks on their faces.
"Now the question is 'What is going happened to us now?" Margaret questions what is on everyone's mind. They grumbled and whispers are being heard around the table.
"God gave us the task to spread his words." Margaret started. "But I am concerned about having a Catholic ruling over Scotland again."
Men remain quiet and puzzled by her wisdom.
"How do we know we can trust Mary Stuart and her court about laws and religion?" Margaret stated. Knox looked back at Margaret as if she admitted treasonous words in court. The holy man stood up and his hands lay flat on the table.
"No, we cannot trust a woman with the crown." John Knox fiercely said. John Know will not let another Catholic queen rule over them again.
"And why not, Mr. Knox?" Margaret looked at him curiously.
"Mary is a catholic and a woman with no authority to the Scottish crown." John Knox stated. "We should charge against Mary and denounce her as our queen."
That is when another lord disagrees. "Then who do we crown, Mr. Knox? Surely, you are not thinking of crowning James Stewart, 1st Earl of Moray."
"Nay! I will not cause our motherland a civil war. We already suffered too many battles as it is!" Unknown lord angrily refused that notion.
All men stood and the shouting battle again.
"Mary is not our queen!" John Knox argues them.
"She is the daughter of King James!" A general argues Knox.
"She is Catholic just like that bitch mother regent of hers!"
"What about our fellow protestants? Our friends lost their titles and lands. How are they going to get it back?!"
"Surely if we petition for them to Queen Mary…"
"Oh Yes, let's all give her a list of names of our lords and family who reformed their faith!" One sarcastic answer.
The Scottish Lords argue and are ready to start a fistfight if it wasn't for Lord Taylor's quick thinking of punching the table with one loud strength.
BANG!
All men silence and look back at lord Taylor.
"Enough of this foul harness! We are Scotsmen, not little boys anymore!" Lord Taylor stood as other men sat back down as they listen. "Princess Margaret is right. Mary is back on the throne and we lords must send word that we wanted to know what her plan for Scotland is."
A door bang opened had interrupted them. A guard huffed inside begging for forgiveness for entering without permission.
"You're lucky I don't carry a crossbow to shoot you between the eyes!" Lord Taylor pointed at the guard in anger.
Margaret calms him by patting his arms. "What is it?" She looks at her guard, Thomas she remembers correctly.
Thomas panted and kneeled, "We caught a spy."
Margaret's eyes widen shocked.
The next scene was where she almost ran through the halls with John Knox and Lord Taylor by her sides as other lords followed her.
Quickly questioned Thomas, "Who sent him or her?" She added.
"We do not know, princess. There were three people. Two older men and one young boy. One dead and the boy escaped, but we caught the other one."
"Anything they carried? Weapons? Coded letters of a sort?" Lord Taylor questioned Thomas. They paced and ran a bit through the halls.
"Only a bible and crucifix."
"Catholics." John Knox hissed in disgust. He shakes his head in disgust as they looked ahead at them.
"Or worse," Margaret commented. She knew that something is going on here. People with power always have a reason to strike their enemies.
She stopped as two of her guards held the spy and crossed spears in front of the man.
"Who sent you?" Margaret questioned the man.
The spy refused to answer her. "Answer me." He refused her only glaring at them.
Lord Taylor doesn't have the patience as he steps forward and grabbed him by the hair. "Answer her." He sneered at the spy. The spy let a strangled gasp and answered her.
"Who sent you?" Margaret questions him again.
The spy spit on the floor and said, "You whore." Lord Taylor did not like the word whore against Margaret. He punches him in the stomach.
The spy grunted in pain as he kneels to the ground.
"You are in the presence of Margaret Stewart, the King's daughter." Lord Taylor hissed at the spy.
"Mary Stuart is King James' true daughter." The Spy spoke in such anger as he looked at them in disgust.
"We heard words that Mary Stuart is back on the throne." The spy laughed as if he lost his mind. "You heretics are dead now." He winced when Lord Taylor pulled out a dagger close to his neck.
"Not if you die first." Lord Taylor doesn't take the threat lightly.
Margaret came forward and questioned him, "Are you saying that Mary the queen of Scots sent you to spy on me?"
The spy smiled as she caught on. Margaret clenched her jaw as she couldn't believe her ears.
"We should kill the spy and send his head back to Mary." One Lord spoke and men agree. "Aye, aye."
Margaret knew that game, but she doesn't want to make an enemy out of her half-sister yet.
"No," Margaret disagrees. She will not play Mary's game. John Knox whispers to her, "An example must be made. Sent back the spy's head and show her that her threats do not shake our protestant reform. We cannot let her push us around because of our faith."
"And we won't." Margaret looked back at Knox then back at the spy. "The queen has been persistent on presenting me to come to court. Might as well, bring forward with her little spy."
She nodded to Lord Taylor as a signal.
He knocked the spy out cold as he collapses to the ground.
Margaret looked back at the Lord, "Return to your lands. If I had one spy here, what about more that is to come in your lands?"
The Lords nodded and quickly left through the secret passage.
John Knox and Margaret had a private talk. Many had no doubt he is trying to convince her not to go to court.
"Please, my lady." John Knox pleaded with her.
"You damn well that if I do not attend then I committed treason." Margaret will not let Mary convict her for whatever reason.
"Mary is our foe."
"Foe?" Margaret gave a quizzical look.
"We all know that as a Catholic queen, Mary believes that she has a real claim to the throne of England. They said that the marriage between King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn marriage is invalid, and their daughter Queen Elizabeth is illegitimate with no claim to the English crown." John Knox notified her about the stories everyone knew about.
"And that is why I have to go. I need to remind Mary that I will only recognize her on the Scottish Throne and not the English crown." Margaret looked at John Knox. "Scotland can't afford war right now. We need to make sure that we have a king on that throne and my half-sister will provide the heir for us."
John Knox will not like that. He knew that Mary would marry a Catholic instead of a protestant and will make any children of hers into catholic as well."What of Elizabeth?" John Knox highly respected Queen Elizabeth because she was not only a woman and queen, but she declared that she would remain a virgin and protestant.
"My husband and I have a plan. We need to make sure that Mary wouldn't marry a catholic to submit her religious power. We ask for Queen Elizabeth to send whomever protestant lord to marry Mary Queen of Scots as her consort."
John looked at her surprised that they would send a proposal to England.
"Will she allow that?"
Margaret looked determined. "As long as he is from a low rank and humble background with no blood related to royalties. Then we won't have a problem with England and Elizabeth will control her from afar to persuade her cousin not to claim her crown ever again."
Margaret kneeled and said, "Bless me so that no harm is to come my way." John Knox looked at the princess on the day she converted from Catholicism to Protestantism. She went to the private practice of many protestant convents. She asked to be baptized and converted to their faith.
The coming of a battle of wits and bloodlines is being tested.
Reviews are welcome.
I am blending Reign and Queens: The Virgin and the Martyr tv series. So I am making John Knox stick to his true historical image and personality.

Chapter 3
"The day I left the safety and family home. I return to the court of your mother, Mary Queen of Scots. I won't lie. I was displeased that I was summoned if not for the insistence of her spies. I locked him up in a crate and gagged and tied him to present him to her. I know what I am doing is considered treason, but I must remind her that Scotland needs stability and peace. Not succession to be the queen of England nor war of religion."
Edinburgh
Another hot day in the fields, as the farmer is the father of three boys working on the fields for wheat.
Two of the older sons carried barrels of wheat to the cart where their horse would pull the cart.
While the father worked with his younger son ten years of age.
The boy wore a hat to block the heat from the sun.
The farmer's wife is inside cooking the meal while two of her daughters-in-law help with laundry to hang on the string.
The wife came out and said, "Lunch is ready! Come inside!" She returned to get the plates ready for the outside table to eat.
The farmer Thomas heard his wife and said, "Come on! John, Edward!" His two eldest sons heard their father and went to clean themselves up before lunch.
Thomas then went to his youngest, "You too James!"
James heard his father calling as he was about to leave for lunch.
That was when he heard horses from the distance.
James quickly looked back and narrowed his eyes to see the distances. It looks like a larger party holding their flags, horses in sync positions to move forward.
They came closer than expected. James quickly ran to see the upcoming parade despite his father's wish to call his youngest back.
James came forward as the line started to form an open space. Few commoners recognized their Lady as she marched her horse and party forward.
The common folks saw a noble party carrying the flag of Wolfhounds on the green fields. With four pokers and each side.
Many came forward and cheered for their beloved lady and her lord husband was riding in front with his warhorse, Satan.
Quite a common fear for such a warhorse, but a shield to show his enemies that the devil will come for you.
They came forward to Mary Queen of Scots court.
And oddly enough people started to whisper as they saw a man dragged by rope and chain as he gagged.
He looked filthy as they traveled a long distance. People had asked who is this man.
Mary was sitting on the throne to hear petitions until a guard came running inside and said, "House of Galloway is here."
Mary stood surprised that her older half-sister was there.
"Prepare to greet our beloved Galloways."
Mary was waiting on the throne with James, Greer, and many courtiers who quickly came to greet Henry Stewart, Count of Galloway, and his wife, Margaret Stewart Princess of Scotland.
"Announcing their graces, Henry Stewart Count of Galloway, and his lady wife, Margaret Stewart princess of Scotland!"
They all dressed in proper Scottish clothes and their presence gave the entire awe, caution, and envy for the power couple.
They came forward and bowed before the royal monarch and only queen, Mary Queen of Scots.
"My queen." Henry started as they rose.
Mary answered, "Lord Galloway, I am glad to have you and my beloved sister return to my court for not only my sake but Scotland's."
The courtiers applauded at the statement.
Henry leans forward and whispers to James' ears. "We would like to talk with the queen in private away from eyes and ears."
In a private room…
Mary couldn't believe her ears.
The real reason was not that she ordered them to come to court to help rebuild Scotland.
They brought this man who claims he was sent by Mary herself to spy on them and report them on their question of faith.
James looked upset, but he shouldn't be surprised. After all, both his sister and brother-in-law had converted from Catholic to protestants. Naturally, they don't trust Mary not because she is a catholic, but because Margaret had feared her lady mother Mary of Guise all her life.
Margaret couldn't help herself. She only sees Mary as the reflection and blood of Mary of Guise.
'But she cannot let that stop our sister bond.' Mary naively insisted. Mary firmly believed Margaret should trust her and serve their queen as it is a God-given right.
"Can't believe this," James hissed. Mary snapped out of her mind as she watched James's face turn stoned with rage.
"My queen," Henry Stewart began his statement. "You must find out if this spy was one of yours or…"
"Someone else." Mary finished his statement.
"I believe we should speak with this spy."
Mary walked down her halls as others followed.
Through before she could speak with the spy, she saw the guards gathering at his cell muttering and looked around in confusion.
"What's going on?" Mary questioned her guard, and he said in confusion, "My queen, the prisoner that Lord and Lady Galloway bring is dead."
"What!" Margaret hissed as she strides forward and pushes the guards out of her way. She looked at the sight.
Blood spatter on the floor. Looks to them like he slit his wrists first then his throat.
The last written words on the wall in his blood said, "You heretics will burn as our beloved Mary Queen of Scots will finish her mother's mission. Purge them all."
Margaret was pale as a ghost. Yes, Mary of Guise's so-called mission was to finish the Protestants off for good. She remembers how she prayed to God and begged that Mary of Guise would not purge them.
The prayer had answered that Mary of Guise had died.
As awful as it sounded Margaret was happy.
Happy that the mad catholic queen is dead.
Happy that Margaret doesn't have to live in fear anymore.
But at this moment she is angry. She knew this wasn't a suicide. The blade was on his left hand. She recalled that he was right-handed. In other words, someone had silenced him from telling the truth.
Someone had killed this man, so he doesn't talk about who sent him. Margaret was led away from the scene by her husband with the same mindset as hers.
They looked at Mary calmly as they wondered, 'She seemed surprised, but that made them wonder who ordered his death before they bring him before her?'
But that didn't dispel the rumors. Many whispered that Mary of Scots had silenced his death in order not to connect her crime.
And they fear that Princess Margaret of Galloway is endangered.
Reviews are welcome.
