    Ch 13Elia

Elia looked out the window of her wheelhouse and marvelled at the changes even just a year could make. The green land either side of the Greenblood had seemed to almost grow roots, stretching outwards from the river thanks to the tireless rhythm of thunk-hiss as each of Tanith's great pumps worked. Great wheels half dipped into the water turned and powered the pumps that drew water from the Greenblood through copper pipes that had been buried in dug trenches to shield the pipes from the sun and lower the chance of them being damaged.

Of course her Sworn Shield had been one of the first into these trenches to dig them, effortlessly and tirelessly working alongside the unskilled poor of Dorne who had once barely scraped their livings but now with Tanith's own coin, they were forming part of a workforce that focused on Tanith's infrastructure projects. The water travelled along these pipes and was let out to fill the irrigation ditches of the new fields that were being planted, food production in Dorne was increasing at a steady rate with each new pumping station and each new set of fields that were supplied by the pumps. Not even including the new farming tools Tanith had produced, a new sort of plough that turned the soil deeper than before to allow farmers to plant their crops in the rich dark earth, and the 'Seed drills' which allowed a man to sow his fields in far less time with less wasted seeds.

    Summary

(SPOILERS up to chapter 485, I think? Unsure)

The Guild had no more therapist left to offer and sending Kyle back to one of them would just not be feasible. There was only one thing left to do now.

The Section Chief faced the unimpressed Kyle again, looking at him in exhaustion, their eyebags mirroring each other. "I suppose we have no choice but to use our last resort then… go make an appointment with Seth."

Or: Kyle is forced to schedule an appointment with Seth, how will that go?

Or or: Anobros talk (against their will)

    Summary

It’s not a real marriage, is the thing. Not for Diluc. Not for Mondstadt.

Just for Kaeya. Isn’t it enough to just let him have this one thing? He won’t even tell anyone. He’ll promise Diluc his loyalty and his skill and his faith and his trust. Diluc will shelter and feed him for an evening. It’ll be over. No obligations, no contracts. Just Kaeya’s heart in Diluc’s hands. Diluc will never have to find out.

No discomfort. No confusion. No love. Just a one-sided courtship culminating in a one-sided marriage.

He doesn’t line the tunica recta with purple, despite his own usual color pallet. He does add a few more layers than is perhaps traditional—a cool off-white like heron feathers and the palest of blue sky tones—but who can blame him? This is his wedding dress. His people are dead. Mater would disown him for weaving the tunica recta in the first place—her only son, a bride, for shame—and Pater would smile before quietly strangling Kaeya with his bare hands before he sullies the family name.

have an objection to serving alcohol to a sister of the cloth,” Diluc says mildly.

“On what grounds?” Venti chimes in from Kaeya’s right.

“Religious,” Diluc deadpans, making a little winged symbol with his fingers. “My family are devout followers of the Church of Barbatos.” The way he says ‘devout’ makes Kaeya huff out a laugh.

“Not the Church of Favonius?” Rosaria says, raising an eyebrow.

“No offense intended to anyone in the vicinity,” Diluc says. “And no offense intended to Deaconess Barbara, long may she live. But, damn. Fuck Favonian guilt, I am so glad my ancestors were on the right side of that schism

don’t think I asked your opinion,” Diluc says, and while the words bite, his tone is faintly amused. “You weren’t even planning on saying a word, Kae. Next time, we’ll plan it together. This time, this is how it’s going to go.”

“Next time?” Kaeya asks, a bit lightheaded.

“Don’t look at me like that,” Diluc says. “We’re not getting divorced just to get married again. I’m talking about vow renewal ceremonies.”

    Summary

While other nations swear that tea can bring people together, there seems to be no such tea culture in Mondstadt, much to Diluc's regret. Perhaps that doesn't mean, however, that you can't simply establish a new tradition and fix some very important things along the way.
