    That's the harsh reality of Lilians "normal" life. Thankfully her five "digital husbands" and her love for fanfiction are a pretty good distraction for the ever repeating numbness.

    So… How did it happen that one single night, being drunk with your bestie after your fucked up heartbreak, trying out a random ritual, results in waking up to your world being completely and utterly fucked?…

His eyes find mine slowly after. "Not only did the N109 Zone or parts of Linkon appear… But there have been sightings of what seems to be Skyhaven and the HQ of the Farspace Fleet… The rumors were confirmed when EVER held a press conference yesterday… It's… worse than we expected… EVER and the Farspace Fleet have pretty much taken over control of most things relating to the government. They're reshaping the laws and everything at the moment, rooting their influence even more. And there isn't much resistance against them since their whole fucking weapon arsenal came with them…"

    After that I don't remember much… I fled from that place and hid myself somewhere. That was until I could feel the tug of something, as if my very soul got called forward, like a tether that nobody but me could see. Imagine my surprise that, at the end of that pull, I found none other than you. Or more specific some version of you… It was like the shell of your body but without the real soul to it, it was… creepy. You didn't remember what happened, not the catastrophe, not the explosion, not your own death and I didn't know what to do with all of that… So the only logical thing for me to do was to continue caring for you like I did before until I could figure out what happened and what was going on with you… At times it felt like you were actually you, as if your soul came back for a moment only to be gone shortly after that…"

    Let go of my hand, Master Diluc." he warned harshly, glaring daggers at him. "I'm sorry I said we can talk about things, but it'll just make it worse."

    I'll make it worse, he didn't say.

    Diluc didn't let go. Even when he knew it pained them both. Even after seeing that Kaeya was still afraid of him.

    "No, no. You can't keep running away. We both, can't keep running away-"

    He simply freed his hand from the redhead's grasp, avoiding his gaze, and took hurried steps towards the door.

    He was a coward. He always had been.

    "Please."

    Diluc's unfiltered plea, filled with pain and exhaustion, made his steps falter. His hand froze mid-air on its way to the door handle.

     

    "W-what?" he stuttered.

    "I said- I don't really care about why you were left here... or what for. I only care about the fact that my brother decided to add his own share of weight on my shoulders. On the very same day my whole world collapsed on me, Kaeya." he turned his gaze towards Kaeya, allowing him to see the unshed tears shining in his brother's ruby eyes.

    "Any other day of our lives, any other day, I say. It would have been fine. But the day I had to mercy kill our father and the organization I dedicated my whole life to turned their backs on me? It sure wasn't your brightest idea."
